Significantly, Das and Ranka will be produced before SEM Court as their two days judicial custody expires today. In this backdrop, Justice Prasad orally told the petitioners, "Would it not be better for you to withdraw this, see what happens at 2 PM and then follow the course of law."

This is why.

We're reaching the point where no reason is required. Throw whomsoever you want in jail, be the judge, the jury and the executioner. Very soon this will trickle down and law and order with break apart completely.

There is a reason why rationale is required in a democracy. You start bending the laws as a higher authority (which I wouldn't say the police is, but the actually higher authorities, the courts, aren't stepping in, so anything goes) and things break down.

They go down this path, and the public will lose all faith in the police (which arguably it has). Vigilanteeism will increase, people will reject authority of the police and engage in greater violence with them and within each other. Bad precedents will be (and have been) set. Courts will not be able to function properly either. Los Angeles from the 70s to the 90s is a great case study.

And no one will be to blame when a proper analysis is done. Not Cockroaches, not Congress, not general protesters, but the police, the courts and the government.

Nothing like that would happen and happened . Don’t worry they would be out on Bail . In most cases it’s preventive custody..

No one is put in jail unless they break a law . In civilised societies there are laws , permissions etc that are sought . One cannot trespass unauthorised n hit public servant . Avoid all this , get permission on authorised places everything should be ok.

By allowing unauthorised protests we are opening Pandora’s box . Protest MUST be done but under the laws n rules else you are calling for anarchy .

This is balanced analysis and impartiality must be maintained without taking either of the sides .

This is the issue. We have reasonable bounds as established by the constitution for protests. Then why was Section 163 imposed?

Was there any credible indication that on October 10th, people would act violently? There was a march by the INDIA bloc as well a few days later, was there any violence? Was a police officer hit that day during the march? Where is the evidence, of a Police Officer being beaten up during the INDIA Bloc march?

People were sitting there asking for Pradhan's arrest for a month, was there a single instance until the police started lathi-charging protesters with nail embedded sticks and sexually harassing women (there is a video, and because you fools are so ignorant, let me remind you, it shows a police officer, thrusting a stick towards a woman's private parts and he can be seen laughing with a fellow police officer at this action), where was any violence on part of the protestors?

You're talking about a Pandora's box. By unleashing brutal force of rabid police officers lacking proper training upon ordinary citizens, was there not a pandora's box that was opened? What about hindutva goons assaulting women? There is clear evidence that the police was working in cahoots with those goons. They were enabling private players. Was that not a pandora's box? Today no woman can trust the police because of their actions, upon direction of the Central Government. Girls were left in deserted stretches by the police, who doesn't take responsibility of preventing rapes in the city, forget in that instance.

Where is the balanced analysis and the impartiality when the State is acting in dangerous ways?

People like you infuriate me. Netas can be rapists, but protestors must be sadhu sant no? Police officers can be violent while throwing youngsters and senior citizens in buses, but people fighting for their rights must ask for permission and sit at home if the State tells them to. The same State that has been manipulating the Election Commission (the burden of proof has very clearly completely shifted on the EC because of their actions after the allegations).

That works when the government has the ability to digest dissent and protests. The current government does not. It'll always find a way to reject protest locations.

Even when you believe they were wrong to trespass on jantar mantar, the police could detain them and release them in a while, maybe a day or two. You don't send one to tihar for a week for trespassing. You do it to kill dissent.

The actual problem is Judiciary, which is acting like Fufaji, "Kaam dhaam kuch nhi, bs raat din bakch*di, Latent nhi dalo, Kutte kyu khule h, Bachhe Cockroach, Makkhi hai".

probably because judiciary and legislature are different ??
and I would have agreed with you if their weren't several instances where SC has opposed government decisions as well.
Electoral bonds was a better option providing more transparency (if they had removed the contribution limit instead) yet the SC cancelled it.
and there have been several such cases. Courts are almost unpredictable most of the times. They may or may not support the ruling government's decisions. and whatever be the case govt can not excercise control over judiciary. Judges have way too much powers (slightly less than CEC)
