They thought they had broken the server in Stormwind but other shards were fine. There’s obviously some logic that tries to put people in the same guild in the same shard, and they pushed the shard to its limit.
But you’ve got to ask yourself, shouldn’t it be relatively easy to implement a rule that makes a best effort to put guild members together but separates them if the shard is at capacity?
Then it hit me: it’s by design. Blizzard had made an architecture where Olympus DDOSes itself on quarantined shards while everyone else around them plays the game normally.
Honestly though it's a valid test from a qa stand point. It did show a failure and what could happen at what point and the cause. I doubt many people in these subreddits do much work with launching servers. I've worked with both cloud based and physical (what I call on prem) servers. Launch day will give me nightmares, I wish their dba's the best.
Exactly what do you think is gonna happen at 60 when we introduce World Bosses or major events like the opening of AQ? Or do you think that's NOT part of the game?
If you guys wanna sit on a dead server then go play retail or era smh, it's called an MMO for a reason and these stress tests being pushed to their limits by streamers will ultimately be good for the game in the long run
Bro. This literally IS the community. The streamers across the board, be it Esfand, Asmongold, Swifty, etc. changed the entire experience of WoW Classic objectively for the better.
If you want to look at a actual toxic community and what ruined the game look no further than the GDKP Andy's, swipers and min maxxers
yeah, these were the live servers, and the client is the live client (if you look at it now it's preinstalled and named different). They have one in Sydney, did you happen to shard to one in LA.
Asmongold is "the guy" in question. Large streamer with a large and "enthusiastic" fan-base. People dislike him for various reasons but one of them is the insane amount of people that gather and zerg his vicinity constantly. Where he goes, you're sure to hear about him constantly (trade chat for example).
Asmongold is one of the most popular wow streamers. People are upset because you'll eventually hear or see someone from an 80,000+ member guild. He also does political commentary, and since this is Reddit, and people on reddit have a somewhat... toxic predisposition to certain political leanings, they're very vocal about their hatred for him.
I didn't know who he was until I saw him constantly mentioned on here. Checked him out myself afterwards. Although he's harsh, he's sensible for the most part. At least he doesn't shock dogs or make starving kids dance for cookies like Hasan does.

Blizzard doesn't justify it though. You are prompted with a warning before you even start the game saying that action will be taken against you if you do any of that.
If someone is bothering you, use the ignore feature. If someone works around that, use the report feature so they get suspended/banned. You know. The mechanics that were introduced for these situations.
I'm the first person to say slurs but yes they are 100% factual that asmoncucketeers are clogging up trade chat with sexist and racist when they can just make another a private chat for just them
