that’s why there’s so many defenders of the layering and dungeon queues. the game is no longer community based like it used to be. i mainly quit for life reasons but i tried to pick it back up in shadowlands and that just wasn’t it at all
I did em for loot but didn’t feel bad because I knew I was getting pretty decent xp, now I feel bad because I feel like I’m delaying my leveling to get loot that I’ll outlevel, so it doesn’t feel as worth it
I feel bad because I feel like I’m delaying my leveling to get loot that I’ll outlevel
If the idea that pre-60 loot is not rewarding enough, because you will be upgrading it anyway, why are we even bothering with Classic+? I thought one of the main points was to move away from the retail mentality of rushing to max level when the game "actually starts"?
It's funny how visceral this sub is when it comes to retail, but looking at the outrage on this change, a large section of this sub craves that retail gameloop of being locked in an instance for 99% of the game.
Goomba fallacy, also I dont think it’s necessarily the retail loop, I’ve never played retail, I’ve only played OG Classic into TBC into Wrath into MOP I just want the dungeon experience to be the same as Classic. I don’t think it needed any change.
Because that's how the game has existed since release. You know that the gear is going to be replaced, but it was worth running a dungeon multiple times to get a good drop that would last you 10 levels or so.
The loot is rewarding, but not rewarding enough to lose 3 hours of level grinding for most players.
I know hearing that personally offends people for some reason, but not everyone enjoys the game the same way you do.
I would only have an hour or 2 to play the game a day, I'd rather spend that time leveling my character over grinding dungeons multiple times for little xp. I wish I could do both, which is how it was in vanilla and classic
You didn't see that in beta? Usually you'd get a group to do a dungeon back to back. Never had anyone want to. And I tank lol. I didn't want to either but always asked as the tank since it's beta. I'll only run them once as is.
I will happily tank a dungeon 10 times because there are some bracers in there I want. Then I'll run it five more times because the rogue wants some boots. Then I'll run it again because the druid needs to grab some socks for a quest they forgot about or something.
Might run it a couple more times afterwards just for funsies.
In any version of wow i like trying for bis within a few levels. Its sort of min-maxxing but im not doing it in the most efficient way. My monkey brain just enjoys achieving the best for each level.
Right? "There won't be any healers since they'll run it once for the quest" and "Alliance won't do SFK". I've always run dungeons because I enjoy them. Getting tired of fat neckbeards trying to force a narrative.
I see the greater majority wanting 'normal' dungeon xp while playing the beta,, on Reddit and Blizzard forums. I'll play regardless of what happens and am super stoked for Forever but I'd rather have normal dungeon xp, too. I still didn't see who benefits from this change except gold farmers and bots. There might be a minority that enjoy running it for gear or other reasons. But I'm seeing that at the minority where I look and experience 🤷
Not that I'm interested in such a thing but... Do you think it's a good thing there's a free in game way to do it as blizzard is making money off ppl paying for it?
Oh I'm sorry, I missed the option to auto kill all the mobs in a dungeon as soon as I zone in. I've apparently being doing it wrong this whole time and killed them my self by, you know, playing the damn game.
Wait you mean you dont run SM wings until you run out of resets for the hour?
Well, not anymore only because I have limited playtime. Back in Vanilla though I ran the crap out of SM wings! But again, I didn't run them for the xp. I was already 60 by then. I also didn't run them to rush other groups (although I did that a couple of times too because it was no skin off my back). So why'd I do it? Because it was fun as heck! I also re-ran Deadmines a few dozen times.
Sometimes I ran dungeons because I loved the aesthetic, the music, or maybe out of a little bit of nostalgia. Sometimes I ran them to actually explore the dungeon since when I would usually run it with a group and need to focus on clearing the mobs rather than taking in the scenery. Sometimes I ran them multiple times when I was level appropriate because I really wanted a specific piece of gear (like Cruel Barb or the Blackened Defias Chest or the Robes of Arugal or Albino Crocscale Boots).
Today? Honestly things haven't changed much. If I have time I would still run these dungeons multiple time, xp or no. gear or no. Especially knowing the level cap won't change and they're planning to develop content outside of "end-game" raiding, I do believe I won't mind taking a bit longer to level up. So again, time permitting, I will absolutely try and see if I can get my SM clear times fast enough to hit that dungeon lockout. Sounds like fun!

After looking at this subreddit, I feel like I was the only one doing Dungeons for loot only.
