“Exploit early, exploit often” is a saying for a reason. No one gets punished for this most likely.

Its insane how many ppl are convinced this isnt a thing.. and exploiting in wow will lead to perm banning or something.

Exploit Early Exploit often has been a thing for TWO DECADES. Theres a reason for that

Ya I’m just done arguing with people. They can think what they want lol.

Garrosh Heirloom, BFA s1 M+ cache and Midnight had the thing with the tokens in launch that got instatly rerolled to name a few.

edit: and back in WOTLK Athenes paladin got rerolled as he was going for worlds first 80 using an dungeon exploit.

They don't always ban but they do alot of times do rerolls / wipes on early exploits.

I remember when Amazon had their game "new world" ruined by exploiters and instead of banning exploiters they just said "yeah keep it" destabilizing the entire economy at launch basically already putting a death nail in the game the first weeks into it.

Funniest part of that whole fiasco was them not shutting down servers immediately when they found out and by the time they did anything there had already been so much gold dumped into the market and traded around that it was impossible to unravel the web and know you weren’t deleting legit currency and I guess a roll back was off the table for whatever reason. So they were just like 🤷🏻‍♂️ keep it I guess

i remember being able to out the game in windowed mode and just wiggle the screen around and you were essentially invincible. Basically, client side actions could not happen while the screen was being dragged. It was pretty funny when people figured it out.

I mean they ban people for bug abusing… They would probably hotfix things like this and ban anyone who abused it too much. “Too much” is whatever they decide at any given time lol.

1

u/Fit-Percentage-9166 2d ago

This kind of egregious abuse absolutely has been and would be penalized. Exploit early exploit often usually applies, but not something as blatant as this.

2

u/cjh42689 2d ago

You’re huffing the copium if you think they would ban people who did this

1

u/Fit-Percentage-9166 2d ago

Lmfao they've regularly banned people for less, just look at the RWF. What would I even be coping about, this is already removed

u/cjh42689 2d ago

Retail world first races is the most disingenuous thing to look at of course retails premiere thing that draws big sponsors and guilds is going to be policed.

In classic exploiting no not nearly a drop in the bucket comparatively. I could link some similar exploits that went completed unpunished if you like.

In classic blizzard can barely keep up with banning bots that are literally fly hacking lol.

1

u/Fit-Percentage-9166 2d ago

Again, you are just completely delusional if you think Blizzard would let people get away with exploiting to level 60 in five hours in wow forever. There would be insane blowback from the community and huge negative press that people were able to just skip the leveling process in a game mode explicitly advertised and marketed toward casuals and embracing the "journey."

I could link some similar exploits that went completed unpunished if you like.

Go for it.

In classic blizzard can barely keep up with banning bots that are literally fly hacking lol.

Yea, because these are tens of thousands of these accounts and they don't care if they get banned. Talking about disingenuous and then comparing botters to the world first level 60.

C’thun Pet debuff stacking with Nihilum and Insidia went unpunished they kept world firsts.

During various phases of Classic re-releases and modern anniversary events, players abused server layer-hopping, group sync features, or specific quest loops (like early Blackrock Depths or open-world tagging anomalies) to farm rare items, duplicate gold flows, or skip straight to level caps.
Thousands of regular players who casually abused layer-resets or temporary experience multipliers kept their earned levels and items because the scale of participation was too broad for total rollbacks.

I’m absolutely delusional for thinking since blizzard didn’t punish these people they won’t punish other people? Need more examples?

You’re the delusional one for thinking people are going to get banned for exploits even though there’s tons of precedent set that they don’t.

C’thun Pet debuff stacking with Nihilum and Insidia went unpunished they kept world firsts.

Lmao, a single boss on content that only a tiny, tiny fraction of the population would ever experience.

During various phases of Classic re-releases and modern anniversary events, players abused server layer-hopping, group sync features, or specific quest loops (like early Blackrock Depths or open-world tagging anomalies) to farm rare items, duplicate gold flows, or skip straight to level caps.

Actual gishgallop with you just mixing in a bunch of things that happened with things that didn't and exaggerating or straight up making shit up.

Abusing layer hopping is not at all comparable, whatsoever, to this apple exploit. By several orders of magnitude.

"Group sync features" were never a thing in classic.

Farming rare items and getting a ton of gold like from the SOD incursions are absolutely nothing compared to going from 1-60 in 5 hours.

Nobody ever skipped straight to level cap in any version of classic lmfao.

I’m absolutely delusional for thinking since blizzard didn’t punish these people they won’t punish other people? Need more examples?

Yea, you're completely delusional and you've proven it. I'm well aware of exploit early and exploit often. I wouldn't expect to be punished for any of the things you listed that actually happened and probably used a significant portion of them myself. The exploit going on here is on a completely different scale and would 100% be penalized.

1

u/cjh42689 2d ago

We’ll have to agree to disagree. I’ve shown examples of nothing happening to exploiters. You want to say they ban mythic world first raiders for exploits and then ignore C’thun world first exploiters not being punished so I’m not going to take what you say seriously anymore. Wow has looong history of not punishing exploiters. Hopefully if there is an exploit in wow forever early on there is punishment for exploiters but I highly doubt it.

u/Fit-Percentage-9166 2d ago

I’ve shown examples of nothing happening to exploiters.

You said you had many examples of similar exploits. None of what you gave is on the level as skipping from 1-60 in 5 hours.

they ban mythic world first raiders for exploits and then ignore C’thun world first exploiters

That was 20 fucking years ago my guy.

Wow has looong history of not punishing exploiters.

Again, the scale and severity of the exploit is why this particular one would have been punished if people abused it in live. I've never said that WoW punishes all exploiters or anything like that. I literally said I exploit early and often myself.

Exploit early exploit often is what has ruined most modern mmos. Game companies need to man up and start banning early and often instead.

2

u/cjh42689 2d ago

Banning people for unknown exploits in a new release game is a bad look.

2

u/No_Beginning_6834 2d ago

It's not. People know when what they are doing is wrong. Oh I found this thing that gives 100x faster xp, yeah that's not intended, oh this vendor gives me infinite money if I click a million times really fast. Not intended. Common sense ain't hard

1

u/cjh42689 2d ago

Going off of past behavior nothing would happen this would be just another time in which players duped gold, items, or experience, and went unpunished.

1

u/JustATextBox 2d ago

Just because that's what's happened in the past doesn't mean it's a good thing. The fact that people have ever duped gold, items or experience and gone unpunished is dumb af.

Sure, maybe there's some nuance to it - if you accidentally dupe 1 gold, reproduce it and dupe a 2nd gold, and then report it immediately and never use it again? Yeah you probably don't deserve any punishment other than having 2 gold removed

But if you hear about that dupe, specifically go try it, and constantly dupe gold until you have 3k gold? Then yeah, just removing the gold isn't a punishment, you deserve a permaban. People wouldn't be exploiting as hard as they do if they knew that harsh punishments for it actually existed

1

u/cjh42689 2d ago

Never said it was a good thing. Merely eluded to punishing people unknowningly exploiting is bad and that’s a tough line to draw in a new release.

1

u/SpeedyReign9 1d ago

It’s not though man, come on. “Unknowingly exploiting”. Really? You think blizzard meant to add these exploits for a small group to just stumble upon it?

1

u/NTufnel11 2d ago

That's true but it's ultimately the developers responsibility to catch bugs. Banning someone for taking advantage of an oversight is challenging.

They're not trying to create some confluence of factors to exploit a bug. They just walked up to a misconfigured quest giver.

It's not the players responsibility to make the determination that this is probably an oversight and not working as intended

1

u/OldGamer42 2d ago

How do you expect a developer to find bugs in a million lines of code that no one person or even group wrote? That an insane statement.

How many quests can you turn in more than one time that aren’t time gated in the game?

Game design isn’t like your little web app. And the insanity that is PC hardware configurations and interference from software and drivers is even more insane than your hot take.

Bugs will happen, exploits will happen. It is the players responsibility to report problems. It is the game developers responsibility to fix them in quick order. If this happens in production the appropriate fix is to disable the quest entirely, rollback(preferably) or delete all characters who exploited the problem (anyone who turns the same quest in more than 5 times knows what they’re doing), and move on with life. You don’t need perma-bans or other overreactions. A character who uses an exploit is an invalid character. If the problem is gold or item duping, you can validate the mail system for sending…duped items or gold sent? Now it’s an account problem and the account needs a delete.

Man, good question. That's a tough one. Oh, I have an idea! TESTING

It's the customer's responsibility to find bugs for you? Talk about an insane statement.

I know it's not easy. I'm genuinely not sure why you have to respond like such a gaping dickhole though. My little web app? What the fuck is wrong with you?

I guess you're a very serious person who knows things, but maybe consider a modicum of decency if you want to actually have a discussion.

1

u/OldGamer42 2d ago

Tell me you’ve never worked for a game design and development company without telling me you’ve never worked for a game design and development company.

If you think that World of Warcraft can be tested for bugs such that the player base isn’t going to be the ones who find all of them you know absolutely nothing about the conversation you are trying to hold with someone who has worked in the game industry for about 7 years if his career including as a lead in the testing industry.

Good luck my dude, keep having opinions on that which you have no experience and know nothing about.

1

u/NTufnel11 2d ago

Respectfully, get fucked

u/Tolken 1d ago

We're the testers. "Beta Testing"

1

u/Silly_me_101 1d ago

Turning in a repeatable quest repeatedly is not an exploit.
Whether this quest should exist is a different topic.

1

u/No_Beginning_6834 1d ago

If every other repeatable quest is go halfway across the zone and killed 13 of this or collect 20 plants that only grow over there and are quest items so you can't stake them to preturnin, then yeah it's reasonable to say that is an exploit and not intended.

1

u/beren12 2d ago

This is as it’s designed however.
