They should also put the spell coefficient in the tooltip, might help a little if you see that the base damage isn't going up much but the multiplier is? Assuming it is.

The multiplier is not going up, its that the old ranks multi instead goes down when you level.

I don’t know if it’s different in forever, but in classic I believe spell power coefficient is casttime/3.5

I think it's similar to that (not 100% sure), but I just know OP and others were staying in comments above how in Forever they nerfed down ranking spells by lowering their coefficients if they are too far below your character level sounds like.
