Buying Advice Can anyone with a Lenovo Duet Gen 9 (Kompanio 838) test the Codex Linux GUI?

Hey! I’m considering the Duet Gen 9 (Kompanio 838, 8GB) for running the native Codex GUI through Crostini.
Would anyone be willing to test whether the ARM64 Linux desktop app installs and runs properly?

I’m particularly interested in touchscreen support, responsiveness, and battery life. Want something portable when I’m on the road. Thanks!

I find any Linux work outside of the terminal painful on mine. It's fine in a pinch but I wouldn't want to use it for any length of time.

Agh i can figure, since you mentioned it, does that mean codex cli or cc, pi etc does work?

I've not used those specifically, I run vscode when needed, but I've not had any problem with apps running just that they are slow. ARM64 is very well supported now due to Apple chips.

Hmm i see thanks jai. I just decided i want a portable device to work on from cafes but also a tablet size. Taking my 16’ laptop is too damn much lol

I did too, I was disappointed I'm afraid. It isn't suitable for more than very light Linux work

Damn.
I’m starting to feel maybe building a custom vm and just connecting remotely might be an option

Codex cli works straight on the terminal as expected.

Have not tried this gui app.

But both agy Antigravity CLI, Claude code cli, and codex cli all work perfectly fine on the crostini and baguette terminal on this device

Hello! Have you by any chance tried Antigravity 2.0 on it?

I had tried it before, it installed but it didn't authenticate, there was a major issue with logging in.

But that is not an issue with the cli, so I just use that. I think the cli is their solution to Chromebooks. Because for Googlebook they have the android Antigravity app

I wish they enabled the Android version to also be installed on ChromeOS :-/

I have 8 gigs. And battery is great for me. Though, I am not often without a charger. I bought one of the IKEA sjoss cheap ones so I take it with me, it doesn't add too much weight, compared to the brick that comes with the tablet. So I leave the Lenovo brick at home on my desk with my monitor and keyboard and I bring the IKEA sjoss with me.

And I am also only charging it to 80%, so I can't really say much about battery, cos I also use it for university, and when I'm on lectures I just put it in battery saving mode and type away so it lasts a lot. For my use cases it is great.

My only pet peeve which I think Google isn't ever going to solve is the file manager not saving per folder settings like there is one folder I want organized by date modified an the other by alphabetical file name.

Anyway, good luck with your purchase!

I find Android Studio, after a nightmare to install it (because on Linux officially it doesn't support Arm), actually runs very well on the Duet 11 Gen9 (Gradle is slow as fuck, but OP shouldn't have this issue with Codex).
