I’m fostering a chow chow mix and she’s very scared. I’ve had her for about 5 or 6 days and she’s warmed up to her living space very well (once I leave she brings her toys and some of my clothes into her cage and sleeps, then jumps on my bed and rolls around with her toys) however she only really plays and enjoys herself when I’m not home. I know it takes some time and that’s not my biggest concern. A concern of mine is when she uses the restroom. It seems like she tries to pee then paces back and forth, trying to pee again. Then paces again. Then tries again and maybe after like 4 times she actually pees.
I know she’s still trying to get used to her environment, I’m not complaining at all I’m just more or less curious if this is normal behavior or if I’m doing something wrong

Hello everyone. I just thought I’d share my beautiful 14 year old, Nala. She is my best friend, and I’ve been lucky enough to have had her as my companion for 13.5 years! She came to me totally unexpectedly and I’m happy to say she’s still going strong. 🐻
She’s lost a few teeth here and there but she still gives the best spins and smiles for bic bics (treats) and her din dins!

I feel like this might be the only place I can throw this rant out to. These people are selling “pure bred shows” displaying their Merle coat as “exotic” and “extremely rare”. And then venting they don’t want “Karen’s” messaging them to tell them there’s no way they are purebred. Well.. they aren’t, so that’s why you have been getting these types of messages. And you shouldn’t be posting that they are purebred when they aren’t and you can’t provide papers for the $5,000 price point.

Hi all,
Just wondering if some can provide some help and reassurance!
My lovely little chow chow broke some nails in a freak accident last Saturday and he’s been in incredible pain really since then. At the time the vet sedated him and bandaged him up (they since came off and they gave him a cone rather than sedate
and bandaged him again) they also suggested I give him some paracetamol and since then have proscribed Gabapentin 3 times a day.
But it’s been so stressful in the in between times - he’s still trying to lick his paws and there’s still so much pain after a week. Thankfully he’s not let it change it and he’s still lovely but it’s so stressful and frustrating.
When Will it get better?! Can he be proscribed something stronger?!
Thanks so much

I been feeding her Jinx grain free salmon. But I see that grain free may be bad due to Legumes. Should I feed her refrigerated food or can food or which dry kibble is recommended? Thank you !

Does anybody else’s chow have this tag on their eyes? Mine scratches hers so hard, it started bleeding. She has an appointment but I just want to know if this is normal or if it’s serious? They said she’d have to go under anesthesia to remove it but I get try to avoid anesthesia as much as I can.
Thanks for input.

are they able to live together successfully and safely if the chow is introduced to the rabbits from puppyhood?

We lost our sweet boy Tuesday. I’m absolutely shattered. We adopted him from the shelter and he was thought to be 3 ish at the time. We had him 10 years so he was at least 13 years old. He passed away in his sleep. We had been dealing with his sundowners for the past 8 months… 5 pm on he would bark all night long and it was so frustrating… now it’s eerily quiet. I miss his sweet face. This picture was just last Friday morning 💔

🐾 Seeking a Loving Forever Home for Kobe
Meet Kobe! ❤️ Kobe is a 10-year-old Chow Chow mix weighing approximately 45 pounds, and he’s looking for a loving forever home to spend his golden years.
Kobe has a big personality and an even bigger heart. Having grown up around a tiny Yorkie and a cat, he sometimes seems to think he’s one of the little guys himself! He’s also great with young children and can be a surprisingly gentle, lovable companion.
Kobe takes his job as a guard dog very seriously. No matter what house he’s in, he immediately goes on duty to make sure everything is in order. His security routine mostly consists of barking and acting tough, but underneath that intimidating exterior is a total softie. 😂 He’s generally comfortable around women and children, while he can be a little suspicious of men at first, especially those wearing hats. However, once he realizes someone is a friend and not a threat, he usually warms up pretty quickly.
One important thing to know about Kobe is that he absolutely hates being confined in a kennel and will definitely let you know how unhappy he is about it! Finding a home where he won’t need to spend extended periods in a kennel is one of my biggest priorities.
Kobe deserves a home where he can feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I’m hoping to find someone who will appreciate his quirky personality, respect his needs, and give him the love and stability he deserves in his senior years.
Rehoming him is not an easy decision, and my biggest wish is to find the right person or family who will treat him like a member of the family. ❤️
If you think you could give Kobe the loving forever home he deserves, please reach out. I want to make sure his next home is truly the right fit for him.

My vet said there is nothing wrong in this x-ray. But, I want to cross check it with some other vet. So, if you know any vet who just look at this x-ray and see if anything wrong with my dog. He had been limping in right hind leg for past 4-5 days. And, yesterday, he almost gave up putting any pressure on his right hind leg. He just stands on rest three legs.
