This is actually a pretty decent price.

Run extensive tests if you get one, these Acer Nitros are full of lemons

What’s the psu

u/mikeythegameronredit 1d ago
PSU is normally ok from what I've heard. I've had two of these prebuilts and both came with a high power 850w 80+ gold non-modular.

Ordered this a couple hours ago, unfortunately was just cancelled by the seller...

u/Eating_parrots 1d ago
Same here, if they cancelled mine they'll probably cancel all unfortunately.

Third party seller
BEWARE

u/Raptor3861 1d ago
Haven't been on Newegg in years and this deal seems really good to me. How wary should I be

u/ducky21 1d ago
This has the consumer protection level of buying something on FBM with PayPal. There isn't literally nothing, but practically speaking, there's nothing.
It's also a total crapshoot if Acer will honor the warranty. If by some miracle this seller is a dealer, then you're buying from a mom/pop computer shop with Newegg as the middleman, but there are vanishingly few of those left in 2026 and it's easier to just assume the best case scenario is not what you're staring down.

I personally would pass on this. If the item shows up missing something, they screw you over big time (even with recording of package opening)
Not sure about damaged item since it's 3rd party as well.2

It’s very similar to Amazon so if the product is experiencing issues or it’s not as described, you have 30 days from date of delivery to return.

You could buy this, sell the Mobo CPU and RAM for $650 pop in a 9800x3d bundle and have a top of the line rig for $2500

u/BallZestyclose2283 1d ago
Doesnt this have some shitty proprietary mobo? Gl selling that. I avoid acer/hp/lenovo/dell prebuilts for this reason.
4
u/resetallthethings 1d ago
no probably not
HP/dell/lenovo are more likely to, but ACER doesn't typically bother on stuff like this and uses standard ATX/MATX boards

I bought this Acer Predator Orion last November and I can confirm it DOES have a proprietary motherboard. I'm not sure if that's relevant considering this one is a Nitro (I'm not very knowledgeable about PC building in the first place) but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

Yeah but you can bundle it with the CPU and get good value for it that way. I sold a $120 CPU and a 50 Mobo in a bundle recently for $200

I'd love for the term "rig" to just die when it comes to talking about PC's.
I'm like 100 years old. It just needs to die already.
Do you call it that when talking about it in person, or only on Reddit? It's not heavy machinery.
8
u/Uhcoustic 1d ago
I don't know, my last pc was pretty heavy with its full tower case.
-7
u/Ifuqaround 1d ago
I have older HAF-X's, haf 2 500's, etc.
Not rigs. Not heavy machinery. If that's heavy to you, maybe you should try to lift something a bit heavier, like a grown adult? I bet a grown adult is heavier than your full tower PC.
10
u/Uhcoustic 1d ago
as a grown adult, i'm not really upset by someone using the word "rig".

u/Ifuqaround 1d ago
It's not ruining my day. =)
Sitting here with a beer.

u/Destructo-Bear 1d ago
Oh so your old person hobby is to drink beer and whine about kids these days?
-2
u/Ifuqaround 1d ago
And sitting on my porch yelling at kids who use the term 'rig' to describe their 30lb PC that took about 30 mins to an hour to put together.
In case of a prebuilt, took no time at all.
Are you going to Costco to buy a rig?

u/OfficialTMWTP 1d ago
I could not imagine being this affected by a nickname for a computer

u/Destructo-Bear 1d ago
Ok Grandpa let's call it an old fashioned bean counter

u/Ifuqaround 1d ago
I prefer PC or computer. I think that works?
Going to work on that oil rig anytime soon? Just as stupid as the boomers.

u/Bigfrie192 1d ago
Do you know the word rig has multiple definitions? These include verbs and nouns. Here are some that are applicable to computers.
Dictionary.com: apparatus for some purpose; equipment; outfit; gear.
Merriam-Webster: tackle, equipment, or a machinery fitted for a specific purpose.
Google: a specific piece of equipment, vehicle or structure assembled and fitted out for a particular task.
While the use of the word is generally focused around actual mechanical machinery, it is widely (and correctly) used when referring to computers

u/Ifuqaround 1d ago
I had no idea.
It was used as a term when I was building PC's 30 years ago.
It's dumb. You can be mad that I don't like it, just like I can not like it. All good.

u/Graphic-J 1d ago
It's now showing a $3010 price. Hell no.

Damn, pieces together this seems closer to $3k. I'm in need, but not in the market. I'd pick this up most likely

u/Mutated-Nut 1d ago
I have an Acer prebuilt. Horrible. 3080 died in 4 years due to probably bad air flow and the motherboard software sucks

u/UnwardedBush 1d ago
This looks like a normal price from the beginning of the year, assuming the GPU at $1,200, 32GB of DDR5 RAM for $400, and a 2TB SSD for $200.
3
u/NamellesDev 1d ago
I'd the gpu was parted out how much would the rest of the system score you if you sell it
2
u/Witch_King_ 1d ago
It's an F suffix CPU, which afaik means no graphics.
2
u/NamellesDev 1d ago
Yeah that would make it harder to sell alone, I'm trying to get a 5080 for as cheap as possible what would u recommend
2
u/Witch_King_ 1d ago
It'd be kinda tough. Very fast CPU would be weird to pair with a bargain bin GPU. Might be easier to sell with no GPU?? Or buy a different CPU that does have graphics?
2
u/Ifuqaround 1d ago
You're not going to get a cheap 5080 now. I'm sure you're aware of the times.
You should have bought one a while ago.

u/Difficult-Mobile5206 1d ago
Feels like people are upvoting the post without really looking into it. 3rd party seller with 4.3 star rating. I wouldn’t take the risk

u/riopower 23h ago
Took screenshots for this seller to make sure I don't buy anything from them in future for sure. Bait and switch is shitty things to do in any situation.
5
u/Eating_parrots 1d ago
Lowest price I've seen on a 5080 prebuilt in a while. CPU leaves something to be desired but otherwise it's a solid deal.

Not sure what the difference is but this one is only $30 more in case the one I posted goes OOS.
3
u/NathanLeadsTheWay 1d ago
Difference seems to be this line:
1 Year Manufacturer warranty from Velztorm (Professionally upgraded by Velztorm)

Honestly, as someone whose been waiting for a 5080 deal after missing out on the Walmart one with a 9800X3d, I passed on this.
I know that those Intel CPUs heat really aggressively and ideally need an AIO for sufficient cooling, so not a fan of an air cooled alternative.
Also, just not a fan of a 3rd party sellers.
Good luck to all.
