B580 is getting harder to find... feels like its about to vanish everywhere. This might be one of the last good deals on one, unless you have a Microcenter nearby (its $309 there).

But why are people paying 300 for a weak gpu
16
u/ChessBooger 1d ago
What's the alternative? A better GPU cost substantial much more.
-9
u/vexnificent 1d ago
Depends on the use of the user, ray tracing vs raw performance etc
16
u/ChessBooger 1d ago
So you're saying just spend more money to buy a better GPU lol

You can get the same or more performance off a 3060ti, 2080ti, 6700xt, 7600xt, 3070, 3070ti, and more if needed without spending more

Dont think thats fair when comparing the used market.
If you are, in this case, dont lump the B580 in it since its not used

Welcome to 2026.. where the 5050 is $500. Nothing wrong with the B580 for most games. Its still got 12GB of VRAM and is faster than the 3060 12GB which is now $150 more than this at most retailers.

u/vexnificent 1d ago
3060ti is 225-250 for more performance. 6700xt provides more performance. No one is buying a 5050 or 5060 compared to many other cards that are out there

3060 ti is cheap as the vram makes it useless for AI.
The B580 is a little faster than the 3060 12gb for AI, hence why they are getting hard to find.

3060ti is 225-250 for
moresimilar performanceFixed this for you - it's about a 10% difference on average. And I say that as someone who thinks that the 3060 Ti was a phenomenal product and probably the best value GPUs up until the B580 launched.
To answer your question, though, a lot of people are just afraid of buying used. And while I roll my eyes at the folks who pretend that an 8gb card is useless (it's not, especially at 1080p), if I can get more VRAM for a marginally higher price, I'm willing to do so.

I think it's been this price for a while. Still the best deal on a 1080p card IMO unless you wanna go used.

Been outta the loop for a minute... why are B580's $330 now?
I picked up one of those Intel-branded ones for $249 from Best Buy less than a year ago for my server.

Prices are significantly up from where they were a MONTH ago. Enough so that it feels like the shock between 2025 and the first half of 2026.

Are these cards worth while? I just built a new machine, and I am having a hard time justifying spending 800 bucks on a 5060 TI 16gb

I built a pc with this 8 months ago and don't really have any complaints at all. palworld was crashing every couple hours after 1.0 launch and they patched the driver within a week

I played pal world for like 120 hours then dropped it. It was fun but I ran out of stuff to do.

They're less exciting at these prices but, yeah, the Intel cards have been solid for me. I've got a B570 that I picked up for a secondary machine around the holidays last year for $170 (with a free game!) and it's been a great little card for 1080p. A lot of folks seemed to worry that the product line would be abandoned back when Intel announced that they were stepping back because of the current state of things, but software and driver updates have continued at a pretty regular pace.
The B580 will be great for 1080p, and should even perform well for some 1440p gaming.

9070 is an option at around $500. It won’t do you any wrong for the price.

Where are you seeing 9070s for $500?
-6
u/Primary_Cat3975 1d ago
I did not round up, my bad. The lowest I’m seeing a 9070 on Amazon is $580.

9070s are not $500 cards anymore.. more like $700 if you are lucky. Even the GRE is getting hard to find for less than $600. The B580 is the only good budget card left.

u/HisRoyalMajestyKingV 1d ago
If you're talking new, then you're lucky if you find the 9070 GRE for $500 these days. I swear it feels like the market was a completely different world just 2-3 weeks ago.
the 9060 XT 16GB is at least $500 as of today. 😱

Yeah - I have just had a bad past with amd cards and chips between heat and failures. Nvidia has never been bad to me, they're just expensive.
My new build is an Intel 265k, 32gb ddr5, and a beefy board and case. Really deserves a high end graphics card.

Ran 7800xt and 9070 in itx formdt1 and haven't had any thermal issues in 3 years Runs w10 and steamos perfectly too

Valid honestly. If you have the money, nvidia is literally a better investment than stocks and gold if you plan to sell in the next year or two. so genuinely do buy any card you can as the price will go up and possibly become a form of currency if it already isn’t now. You have a great system too, and with AMD out of the picture, intel really is going to bottleneck your overspecced components. NVIDIA seems like the only way for you to go here. That is if you can find a card new or used at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, all that’s still “worth it” for the price is likely the 70 series, 5070/ti. It just makes the most sense compared to the higher cards and lower cards being way too much for the price. $500 for a 60/ti or over $1200 for a 5080/ti. 5070 has retained its value at about $700-$800 kind of well. The prime series 5070 (non ti) is about $800.
