Stock for refurbished items varies greatly. Some listings only have a few items in stock and sell out quickly. Please report this post if the listing goes out of stock.

Ahhhh "LHR" cards...almost makes me look back fondly on the crypto mining GPU shortage...compared to today's shit market

We didn't know how good we had it...

u/realribsnotmcfibs 1d ago

Seriously.
Even back then my brother picked up a 3090 affordably.

I want a 5090 for my big ass dual 4k ultra wide that is pooping on my 5080 and they now cost as much as a clean 1991 Miata. My wife will at least let me buy a Miata. She will smother me in my sleep if I pay 6k for a graphics card for my e game.

u/Ifuqaround 1d ago

My Kingpin 3090 was $2100 directly from EVGA in 2022. Not exactly affordable for many people.

Sure beats $6-7k if that's what you mean by affordably.

u/mrniceguise 1d ago

MSRP was $1,500 and most of us were getting FTW3 cards for around that price at the time. For the flagship-est flagship card ever at the time, that felt appropriate. The thing aged very well too, so I don’t think any of us really felt like we’d been ripped off.

Now? Everything new in the space is a ripoff.

u/imaginary_num6er 1d ago

Does EVGA even have warranty?

7

u/Desert_Nanners 1d ago

Yeah, if memory serves it was better than most.

My 2080 super got bad artifacting within like a month of ownership and the warranty to get a new card was super quick.

I bought a used GPU from a mining farm after one of the crypto crashes, got a really good deal (though of course a little risky since it had been run 24/7 for a couple years).

If the AI/data center bubble ever pops, things could get interesting.

u/sshwifty 1d ago

I was fighting with eBay sellers that wouldn't lower prices on 3090s below $550. I was an idiot in retrospect

u/Aedarrow 1d ago

The pop up headlights are worth every penny

3

u/realribsnotmcfibs 1d ago

Oh I know it. I had a 91 with a 1.8 and random bolt ons. I later swapped in a 2jz.

I am now ready to settle down with a nice stock 94.

1

u/Aedarrow 1d ago

The jump from 1.8 w adding to full-blown big turbo 2jz is huuuuge. I bet that thing RIPPED. How was the turbo lag?

1

u/realribsnotmcfibs 1d ago

Tbh I never found out. It wouldn’t have been bad it was only a 68mm on a 3.0L. The S300 chassis is large. I had that same turbo on my 12 sti made mid 700whp on e98. Ripped hard. On a 2j it should have been good for 900+whp.

I broke the rear end shortly after getting it going. (Ford rear end) decided i wanted to move on to new projects and did.

I do regret selling the Miata. It needed real money dumped into the rear differential and safety equipment along fixing some of the short cuts. But a buddy and I built that car in a year or so in my garage when I was like 21.

It had a solid motor, six speed trans, good fuel system, pro efi 128 ecu, a nice custom engine harness etc. I’d kill to be able to work on that car again today. I’d do a lot of things a lot nicer with my income today and skills I’ve learned since.

u/Aedarrow 1d ago

This sounds about like me. Growing up I was a dsm fanboy, and still am to this day. I had a 92 Talon Tsi AWD when I was younger, and I kick myself for ever getting rid of it. Now I’m older and a clean awd turbo gen 1 or 2 dsm are becoming more and more rare, and parts are getting more scarce. I just daydream and drive a Camry nowadays.

in 2021 according to nvidia's earnings reports- consumer graphics cards made up over 60% of nvidia's total revenues reported across all of their product segments.

in 2026 according to nvidia's earnings reports- consumer graphics cards are so insignificant that they bundled that product segment with automotive and a few others under "edge computing" which makes up 7% of their total revenues collectively.

From being a majority of the money spent with NVIDIA in 2021, we have become so insignificant to nvidia's bottom line that they don't even feel the need to maintain the optics by even offering us the 5090 die anymore.

we had no idea how good we had it. 😭

1

u/WesternOk5765 15h ago

Yeah it was nice when a 3090 was $500. Well they weren't but I got one for that once.

If only I'd mortgaged my house and sat on all my 2022-2024 electronics I'd have a quarter million extra dollars. And somehow that's not an exaggeration.

3

u/KevinBBQ 1d ago

But I also remember when 3080s were selling for over 2K and Rtx 3070 over 1K @.@ in 2020-2021 sigh lol

1

u/MJ26gaming 1d ago

Yeah I got a 3070 ti at like $1100...

0

u/onlyPressQ 1d ago

Was it even bad during that time, u buy the gpu, mine on the side and get most of ur money back anyway... I did that shit with my 3060 and made a couple hundreds

12

u/Narezzz 1d ago

The supply shortage was bad, yeah. My local microcenter released cards once a week and you literally had to line up before dawn to get one

7

u/RageMuffin69 1d ago

They would immediately sell out. Was easier to get them with Newegg bundles. But at least buying one meant you’d end up profiting from mining.

65

u/Soil-Final 1d ago

Slightly slower but significantly cheaper 5060 Ti 8 GB I guess

15

u/HisRoyalMajestyKingV 1d ago

About 13% slower at 1080p according to Tom's Hardware's GPU hierarchy table. Or, flipped, the 5060Ti 8GB is about 15% faster.

The 3070 does use 40W more according to the official power ratings (220 for 3070, 180 for 5060Ti), though real world, it seems the 5060 uses a bit less than what it's rated.

That said, the price difference between the two cards is, ah, shall we say, a bit breathtaking these days.

2

u/Current_Homework_143 21h ago

Yeah, 3070 is more comparable to 5060

2

u/HisRoyalMajestyKingV 13h ago

Yep, or the 4060Ti.

32

u/DetectiveHot4772 1d ago

If someone buys this or has a good 30 gen card, just use https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/. Gives new gen level frame gen making it very similar performance to 50 series if it has the vram.

21

u/alman12345 1d ago

They also broke open all of the Nvidia products for Nvidia users recently, apparently hardware flip metering wasn’t as integral in generating multiple frames as Nvidia wanted to pretend it was. When Nvidia released the DLSS 5 DLL it seems to have set off a ton of projects.

19

u/NewsFromHell 1d ago

you ar ebetter off using https://github.com/sdli1995/dlssg_for_sm86
this is bypassing framegen lock on 2000/3000 series cards and rewrites deep learning kernels to optimize hardware usage on older architectures. I use it on 3080ti and it works flawlessly.
Of course the game should already have DLSS implemented.

u/SEND_ME_FAKE_NEWS 1d ago

I wish hardware 4:2:2 decoding was this easy to enable 🥲.
I should have sold my 4090s for 5090s when I had the chance.

Instead, I have to keep using Intel.

1

u/eke2k6 1d ago

Add an Arc A380 to your setup. Thats what I did before I got my 50 series. DaVinci Resolve automatically uses the arc to decode, and the more powerful gpu for effects processing.

1

u/SEND_ME_FAKE_NEWS 1d ago

So still Intel haha.

But seriously, I would if it wasn't itx. Though you got me thinking of whether this would work with it as an egpu.

1

u/judethedude 1d ago

Bro thanks for this

1

u/AxiomOfLife 1d ago

woah this is so cool

1

u/Swatbolt 1d ago

You can also use optiscaler in a lot of titles to get frame gen on older cards.

1

u/Current_Homework_143 21h ago

More like a 5060

-10

u/ReturnAnxious8631 1d ago

I’ve had a 5060 no Ti and a 3080 Ti and tbh they perform equally no bs. I know it sounds stupid but I had similar frames with both

26

u/PollShark_ 1d ago

Someome was cpu bottlenecked

5

u/daniel4653 1d ago

Bull crap, a 3080TI would perform close to a 5070/4070 Super.

21

u/G70F 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's a blower card. Don't see these often these days

1

u/Nutsack_VS_Acetylene 21h ago

Because they blow

21

u/imaginary_num6er 1d ago

I’m waiting to sell my 2080Ti at MSRP

28

u/itanite 1d ago

fuck 2026. seriously

21

u/habudacavada 1d ago

Man... I remember I bought a used RTX 3070 for $320 out the door almost 4 years ago. This is about $293 after taxes for me.

5

u/CartonBox1975 1d ago

I bought a refurbished 1650 from Zotac before for around $50 bucks to have a card to test with and had no issues. Price suck right now even for Zotacs refurbished and open box cards however I would get this over a good faith Facebook Marketplace deal.

-8

u/Destructo-Bear 1d ago

Nah hook me up with marketplace weirdos all day long. I've dropped $20k on marketplace PC hardware this year so far and it's all been good. Did get scammed on a 3060ti because I wasn't doing my due diligence but that's a drop in the bucket compared to that I've made in profit on these deals

6

u/gatsuk 1d ago

Last year I bought 3070ti for 160 in fb marketplace. Today prices are insane even for old cards

12

u/dggrjx 1d ago

This is the about used market rate, at least you get a little warranty here? Sad times, indeed

5

u/LaCiDarem 1d ago

Would this be worth the upgrade for a 5700 xt?

2

u/BigSchmikey 1d ago

I went from a 5700xt to a 3070 ti, hoping it would do better for 1440p. In my experience, it was better, but not enough for me to justify the purchase. Definitely more than enough for 1080p though, my 3070ti went to my brother and it's still running strong a few years later.

At this price? Maybe.

1

u/ThatOnePerson 1d ago

If you're interested in new games, for compatibility yes. Without DX12 Ultimate on the 5700Xt, you won't be able to run games like FF7 Rebirth for example

3

u/_zir_ 1d ago

Bought a 3070 at launch for 400 and thats when scalpers started becoming really prevalent and also 6 years ago. This si pretty expensive for what it is imo but if you're desperate, I don't think has much of an AI tax since it has such little vram. Also tbf i sold it like 3 years later for more than i bought it because of scalpers again.

3

u/Destinesia_ 1d ago

Damn I forgot about the LHR designated cards lol

1

u/Akanash94 1d ago

You can find cheaper deals and better cooler variants on Ebay. It's an okay deal. Personally, I won't spend anymore than $300 for a 8gb card in 2026.

1

u/TruckTires 1d ago

For what it's worth, I've bought two different refurbished cards from Zotac, and they've been perfect. Looked and ran like new, and still running fine a year later.

1

u/SpectreInTheShadows 1d ago

How does this compare to a 3060ti?

My niece has a 3060ti, wondering if it even makes sense to "upgrade" her when she only plays 1080p.

2

u/insufferable__pedant 1d ago

Not really an upgrade at all, the 3060 Ti was just a cut down 3070. Performance should be pretty similar in a lot of games - the TechPowerUP relative performance chart puts the 3070 at an average of 14% more performant than the 3060 Ti. You'll probably see much less of a difference in a lot of applications.

1

u/Blue-Thunder 23h ago

I remember when these were selling for $199.99

1

u/ZombieManilow 21h ago

Holy crap I have a non-LHR 3070, a 2060 Super, and 2 GTX 1660 Ti just sitting in a drawer. I never imagined anyone would be paying this much for a card that old.

1

u/ThatNewKarma 12h ago

I really regret selling my old build when I upgraded last year.

Sold my 3070 for $150

1

u/BigE1263 1d ago

I’m not going to support a company that doesn’t support warranty’s

4

u/Ifuqaround 1d ago

None of them seem to support their warranties these days.

Just blame the consumer.

3

u/bkgn 1d ago edited 23h ago

If there's no competitive benefit to honor warranties, no company is going to honor warranties. In the current market they don't get punished for it.

1

u/gthirst 1d ago

It's a refurb zotac lol, just go to hardwareswap and find a better deal on a better card.

1

u/phoneacct696969 1d ago

Go intel for this price range. B580 under 300.
