Before you share your first post here, please familiarize yourself with this subreddit’s rules. Rule #1 is especially important: this subreddit DOES NOT serve as an alternative to the kind of medical care and advice your budgie can only get from an avian vet. If you have a budgie medical question or concern, talk to your avian vet instead of posting here! Also, be sure to read this subreddit's wiki--odds are very good that your question has an answer in one of the wiki articles! (We usually remove posts that ask about something that's answered somewhere in the wiki to keep the clutter to minimum here.)
Also remember this is a pet budgie subreddit that encourages rescue and adoption and strongly discourages breeding.
This is a place to share cute budgie pictures, videos, and stories, but it’s also a place to learn more about budgies. There are many times when someone will post a picture, video, or description, and you might notice something that isn’t best practice for good budgie ownership. It might be a cage that’s getting dirty, or some overgrown toenails, or something like that. Even if that issue isn’t the main reason for the post, please bring that to the attention of the original poster (OP) in a supportive and constructive manner so OP can be made aware of a better way of doing things.
Likewise, OP might consider proactively addressing things in their post that a typical budgie owner might be concerned with if they don’t know all the facts. It might be something as simple as, “Don’t worry, this was before I cleaned their cage” or “I’m taking them to the vet next week for their nail trim.”
This is a great way to share information from the Wiki in a very effortless manner, and you are all invited to do so! We used to have just a few summons, but the list has grown enough that we compiled it in this part of the wiki. You should check it out!

Some rules:
We encourage you to share pictures! Just make sure they are accurate to the situation and don't break the rules in the sidebar.
Remember: this subreddit is just one of many possible places to make a budgie connection. Also consider FaceBook, Craigslist, Nextdoor, other online communities, as well as real-life bulletin boards in public places. See all the previous weekly posts (that have content) by clicking here.
Our wiki also has a list of parrot rescues you could check out - whether you're looking to adopt a new feathered friend, or have to surrender one due to life circumstances. If one of these rescues is near you, please consider reaching out to them!

I posted about Barry before, recently, This was him in his prime; sadly, he just passed. Barry was one of two budgies who came to us as rescues, discovered abandoned in an apartment. He and Tony (who died after a year and a half) showed signs of chronic malnutrition that likely went deeper than their more recent abandonment. Barry never learned to fly like our other birds. We never knew how old he was. But he lived five good years with us, with a flock and family who loved him. Rescues can be difficult to look after, you don't know what issues they have, but, I will say again, they are totally worth taking in if you can give them what they need. Good-bye, Barry. You were such a sweet and gentle bird.

New vet was very thorough🩷. They both have bad rod bacteria but only Clyde is showing symptoms . Got oral antibiotics and some that goes in their water . Clyde💙is 27 grams and Baby💛 is 34! Baby was clearly not happy about being in the weighing box.. He kept thunking his tiny fat head on the lid.
Clyde is still not feeling well but he is fighting it well too. He's less puffy up today, and more vocal, no vomiting either! I can still tell he's sick but not as scary as yesterday. Baby is as chipper as ever.
They preened each other on the way there and back 🥲🩷 Which ive never seen them do.. I am hopeful for Clyde and i really pray he doesn't go downhill, so scared. I'm happy to hear him chitter around a bit today .

So I have a cockatiel. Today while I was out, I found a budgie in our parking lot. Lil guy is kinda nice idk.
Two weeks ago, my cool maintenance guy told me about another budgie that was being abused in our apartment complex (locked in a closet, small dirty cage, I included pictures). I didn't want him idk how to care for a budgie and I have my bird idk how theyd get along especially with the size difference. Since I already had one, I went and got the other cause I got a cage and thought why not. It's a different cage then my cockatiel. The budgies are friends now, idk what to do especially with my cockatiel.
The one I found outside is fine with hands, the second one is terrified of me.
All of this an hour after I dropped my car off to be fixed cause it broke and an hour before my interview at a big company. I'm so exhausted.
Edit: the budgie is not in the cage I got him in. I threw it out and gave him new toys and a new cage. The new cage is twice the size of the one he came in. No mirrors.
I actually got the new cage when I found the one outside. Just decided to add the second one, I remembered him and felt bad I didn't take him earlier.

These two have been talking up in each other's face for like 30 minutes now. What are they doing? Talking smack to each other or plotting my demise?

I bought a Bird heater from Kaufland and my birds dont seem to care about it. I would also say touch heat is like 45° its not nice feeling but if you hold your Hand close to it, I feel nothing... is it useless ?

Got this little running wheel for our budgies about a week ago. Nobody touched it
Then Dwen, our new budgie, gave it a try. Sunny saw him and decided to try it too.
Now Sunny's a full-time gym rat lol. I swear I hear that wheel spinning all day.
And Moon? Tried it for literally ONE second and walked away
Guess the gym life isn't for everyone.

Just got my birbs their forever home :) .... It's so much bigger than I thought. Can't wait to have them move in. Hopefully they're not too intimidated.

This is Yurio, my second ever budgie and he's so different from my first baby it's incredible to observe. He's such a little weirdo 😭 I barely see him sitting in a normal position. Here I present to you some of the stances I caught this gremlin in. What's your favorite? :)
