Hi everyone!
So sorry I have been MIA from this sub. A lot has been going on this year and it’s been a bit difficult keeping up. However, I should be getting a new computer soon and will be way more active here.
We have had a few suggestions for sub changes and will be working on implementing:
A rule to include locations in posts. They can be as specific as your city or region you live in or just naming the country. But it will be required soon.
A rule regarding trying to sell things of your on the sub.
A wiki that will help beginners: such as listing bird feeders, any gear for birdwatching, what to do/who to call if a bird or owl has been injured near you, etc.
There are still questions about a discord server. We will be more than happy to create a discord server if that’s what you all would like so you can live share, chat and build a wholesome community there with each other.
Hope you all are staying safe! So sorry again for being gone for so long.

I've never really thought about it, but there are probably a lot of insects that end up seeking shelter from the rain under roof shingles. Makes total sense, I've just never seen a bird do this.

My bird feeder camera footage of quail often includes ring-necked and white-tipped doves. The Doves are so violent - they are always wing-slapping everyone! They also like to raise a wing in a pre-slap warning. They also like to distract with the wing warning then wing-slap with the other wing! That is the funniest thing to me - fake with the left and BAM! in with the right! Little Mike Tysons over here.

He landed on the railing of my apartment. Earlier this year he also ate the baby of the pigeon that was nesting on my bottom balcony.

This young House Finch is deep in his awkward phase, molting into his adult red and looking a little rough around the edges. But don't let the scruff fool you - he held his own against a mature male for his spot at the feeder. Scrappy little guy earned his seeds today. Sound on for the full experience!

Hello, I'm new to bird watching. I'm curious what apps (if any) do you use to monitor and/or identify birds. What do you like/don't like about it(them)?

I have two bird feeders attached to one of my windows by suction cups and its really popular and I wanted to set up a camera that I can put above them and aim down but all the ones I find have to be attached to a tree branch so I was wondering if anybody knows a camera brand I can simply attach to my window with a suction cup
