Its like I'm 17 in 1997 again

Got some more EA ships to go with the rest of the squadron, a Nova, Sagittarius, Oracle and 4 x Tethys. Still WIP, gotta do the engines and guns and some other details (bridge lights and numbers/lettering)

Been painting them up in the Dilgar War/Earth-Minbari War paint scheme of off whitey grey with blue striping. They'll go with the other ships of the group. Apart from the Omega these are generally very older ships, all I'm missing is an Avenger CV and an Orestes Monitor!

He's my favorite character. They had Sheridan and Garibaldi, too, but this is the only one we wanted.

Is it just me? Or do you think the makeup department went "Hey you know what would be funny? If we made Sheriden look like Sinclair."

Anyway this is President Alcuzan from The Orville.

I hadn't realized how much I missed this show until I finally returned to it. If there had ever been a hint of doubt about the season's direction after the war ended, this episode completely silenced it. I'm so in again!!

That creepy way ISN describes every event, subtly placing each moment, each interview at the station to create a narrative that, even knowing the real context, makes you understand how realistic it might sound to others. That hate speech and implicit terror, mixed with condescension for the one in charge... It's not something you haven't heard from someone online or, worse, from a credible media portal.

How beautiful and horrible it is that something that aired almost 30 years ago still feels so fresh and close to our reality.

Amazing after almost 30 years, Sleeping in Light still brings me to tears every time.

This time it especially hit hard at the end when they all gather in the elevator, and I realized Claudia is the only one of those people still alive.

Mods: I sent a message a couple of days ago asking whether a sale post like this was okay and didn’t hear back, so I hope this is permitted. If not, please feel free to remove it.

I’m moving house and having to downsize. These books have followed me across many states and many houses, taking up a full shelf, and it's time for me to part with them. I've listed the 19-book script set on eBay.

It includes:

• J. Michael Straczynski Volumes 1–14
• Volume 2.5
• Babylon 5 Scripts: Movies
• Other Voices Volumes 1–3

Volume 15 is not included.

The set is in good overall condition with normal shelf wear on the older black volumes. I’ve included detailed photos in the listing.

I’m selling the collection together rather than splitting it up.

Happy to answer questions or take additional photos for anyone seriously interested. Help me find them a good home!

Taken from the news in Paris, my B5 fan brain was triggered…..

Zog yes, or Zog no?

what’s stopping humans from having more victories.

in the entirety of human minbar war humans only won 2 battles, the opening and the black star destruction. but I feel like they could of canonically won a few more, Sheridan isn’t the only smart commander out there, humans if anything is resourceful.

was the minbar overwhelming force and superior tech just really that overpowering? I mean the black star didn’t notice the nuke mines…

thoughts?

edit: lawls the internet is so fickle, let’s downvote the person asking a question XD

So I've watched all five seasons, the re-edited pilot (that comes with the DVDs), and In the Beginning. (Have to admit I found season 5 to be a bit of a slog, particularly with Byron and the telepaths. How is it that people who can read minds are so clueless about how other people think?) Do I watch the other movies? Do I watch Crusades? Do I read any of the books? If so, which and in what order?

Edit to fix my misnaming the telepath material.

Figured it'd be a cool detail to share with the class since I noticed only the deluxe edition has it

I saw In The Beginning and Earth ships got cut down like butter. It's like me stomping on ants. Why did the war lasted over two years? I would think seeing how useless Earth is, the war would be over by a few weeks....

Another two stations complete!

How would it effect the show and universe in general if an earth force ship had been destroyed by the shadows at the behest of Lando causing EA to help the Narns

Any Super Furry Animals fans? Thought it was a good joke.

Local auction house to me has had this come up, but sadly unless I want to be 'sleeping in ditch', I can't afford it.

I've been thinking of a small part of that episode - re-watched it a month or so ago.

Kosh or his ship interacted with the maintenance staff assigned to where Kosh's ship was stored - Bay 13. They were terrified and stopped working in Bay 13. Such timid, unimaginative souls. What a grand opportunity they wasted. (Would I have done differently? At the age I'm at now, 56? Yeah, I'd have stuck it out. As a very young man? Probably would've given in to the fear, no doubt about it.) If they'd stuck with taking care of Bay 13, who knows what their destiny would have been? (One or more turned into a pro-Vorlon Morden? LOL, you never know.)

I have to wonder, though - surely EF intelligence put someone in the maintenance staff to spy on Kosh or his ship? If true, running away wouldn't be at all good for one's career.

What do my fellow B5 fans think?

When I first saw this scene as a teen, I found the lady's parroting of Clark's talking point to be a little obvious. I now think differently.

"Shadow Dancing" (s3e21)

So I was watching the Expanse with my better half, and since I'm a half season ahead of her I was watching B5 on my laptop till she gets caught up.

And I was thinking, if you remove the pronto-molecule stuff it is conceivable that the expanse is a prequel to B5. And after I said that out loud, we got into a fight that is coming close to ending this relationship.

And because I am never going to find another girl who's idea of a date night is beer, pizza, and bad scifi movies. We agreed to let you guys settle the argument for us.

Welp I lost, we both forgot the dates. Now I need to go wash a cat (an actual cat mind out of the gutter pervert)

(some dates are educated guesses based on canon novels and in-program dialogue)

1991: USSR dissolved (relevant to San Diego bombing)

1991-2084: Vorlons begin to introduce telepathy in humans, first generations of human telepaths born

2084: "Earth Central" begins tracking human telepaths (presumably select nations such as the USA , Netherlands , South Africa, Japan)

2085-2156: Compulsory registration of telepaths begins , MetaPol is founded to enforce this (psi cops exist prior to psi corps)

2157: Centauri Republic make contact, Earth Alliance made official, numerous nations join

2161: Psi Corps founded with the increase in trade with aliens requiring commercial telepaths in negotiations

2230-2232: Dilgar War

2244: First contact with Minbari etc
