Racism Watch A few posts during the riots in France

Context : There are currently revolts taking place in France that have escalated, resulting in widespread destruction and numerous instances of looting at businesses. This sparked reactions all across the globe.

During these revolts, many people used Japanese anime-style cosplay. This prompted a reaction from the Japanese, who told them to stop exploiting Japanese culture in this way.

Many also drew upon Chinese folklore or took inspiration from Mao-era China, a move that prompted some Chinese people to tell them, in no uncertain terms, to go fuck themselves with their bullshit (I posted one example among many others, p.4)

What fascinated me were the reactions from some POC. There POC but they're talk just like white racist. The same old reflexes... fetishizing Asian women and demasculinizing Asian men. (p.1, p.2, p.3. There is a Black man with a prostitute, it is not the man who is posting)

They also targeted Asian businesses. https://www.instagram.com/p/DeupYpgDNrF/

(Don't pay any attention to the account, there aren't many images of the rioters, and this is the only one I could find where this guy complains that Asians, in this case, Chinese people, are too rich.)

Also, let us not pretend otherwise, some Japanese, Chinese or other Asian individuals have also made racist remarks, notably following the fire at the Limoges town hall or when they discovered that the rioters had deliberately targeted businesses owned by Asians, precisely because they were owned by Asians (p.5 and Instragram link).

I don’t know what to think about all of this.

In short : french rioters made use of Asian cultural elements, some Asian people were dismayed to see their cultures associated with this whole mess, and they ended up being the targets of racist remarks. I am referring primarily to the Japanese and Chinese communities, but in France, there is also a significant Vietnamese and Southeast Asian population, a legacy of the French colonial period (French Indochina) and the Vietnam War.

Addendum: I apologize guys, but for some reason, all the images have been deleted from Reddit. I personally downloaded, edited and posted from my hard drive. Just go look up Young Hmong Conservatives on Facebook. However, I think I got duped due to a moment of idiocy on my part because the images posted by the page are undoubtedly AI generated.

I am considering deleting the post, but we'll see how it goes first.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I never thought I would see the day that pigs fly and hell freezes over ( https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61580659949530 ). I wonder if Chai Vang would agree.

Imagine if the great Southeast Asian refugee crisis of the 1970s was happening now, in 2026, the MAGAs/Right-Wingers would be like, "Hell Nah! We don't want no military age young Southeast Asian men in our country," and Ann Coulter, "We don't want know useless old people from Laos that contribute to nothing except for the drain on our economy." (Ann Coulter really said that about Southeast Asian refugees).

The history of the Hmong and the CIA centers on the Secret War in Laos (1961–1975), a covert U.S. operation where the CIA recruited the Hmong ethnic group to fight against communist forces. Following the 1962 Geneva Accords, which declared Laos neutral and barred official U.S. military presence, the CIA established Special Guerrilla Units (SGU) led by General Vang Pao to disrupt the Ho Chi Minh Trail, protect secret radar sites like Lima Site 85*, and rescue downed American pilots.*

The alliance relied on tens of thousands of Hmong fighters, INCLUDING BOYS AS YOUNG AS 10*, who were trained, paid, and supplied by the CIA. While former CIA Director* William Colby credited the Hmong with saving over 50,000 American lives, the campaign resulted in catastrophic losses for the Hmong, with estimates ranging from 30,000 to 40,000 military deaths and massive civilian casualties due to intense U.S. bombing.

When communist forces took control of Laos in 1975, the Hmong faced severe persecution and genocide for their alliance with the United States. This led to a mass exodus, with thousands fleeing across the Mekong River into refugee camps in Thailand, and eventually resettling in countries including the United States*,* France*, and* Australia*, where their descendants continue to seek full recognition and veterans' benefits for their service.

I tried adding references for the AI summary above, but Reddit won't allow it by deleting my 1st and 2nd posting attempt.

  • From 1998 through 2019, the U.S. deported a total of 219 individuals (including Hmong and other Laotian nationals) to Laos.
  • In May 2025, the Laos government shifted its policy and accepted an initial group of 65 Hmong, Lao, and Iu-Mien Americans deported from the U.S., with additional ICE enforcement and deportations continuing into late 2025

Racism Watch Scared Wh!te Person Flexing His Wh!teness by Living Viciously Through Dead Men.

I struck a nerve. I didn't respond privately to the message because I know the LOW IQ racist jack-ass could careless for mine or anyone else's measured responses. The mental gymnastic is strong with this one.

People like him or her are too dumb to ever do any kind of critical thinking about history; they live vicariously through achievements of dead men, whom people like him put under the whiteness umbrella when it suits them. A few hundred years ago, Swedes and Italians were considered too swarthy to be whites; a little over a hundred years ago, Irish were considered a less than a human. The Irish know this, which is why they fight for human right the most. Less than 100 years ago, H!tler saw the Slavic people, east of Germany, as inferiors, but you know, if you achieve something great, then you're white. Remember all the Polish jokes? If you're non-whites and you achieved something great, it's still a result of having been exposed to whites.

ProfessionIll879910:14 AM

You weirdos are so intimidated by proud White people... It's actually hilarious. You're offended by everything, yet ashamed of nothing. Entitled to everything, while contributing nothing.

Speaking of group of people (white under the western and NATO umbrella) who are nothing but virus on the world. Who intimidates whom here? Fear of the proverbial dark-hoard is a white thing.

The truth is, we're just better. We are at the top of the food chain. We are the strongest and the brightest. We are the most powerful group in the world: the most feared, the most respected, the most desired. We are everything you want to be, but are not. We have no guilt, only pride. And we are tired of you blaming us for your own bad choices.

As for the being on top of the food chain, I give him or her that, but the strongest? They are nothing more than a bully with a gun who's running out of bullet. The Iranian government is exposing that scam. As for the most desired, this is a group of people who feared losing their genetic to the point that they enact laws. No other group on earth created anti-miscegenation laws. Some of you probably have never heard of Hollywood's Hays Code.

  • The Hays Code (1930–1968): This industry guideline prohibited interracial romance on screen. Since most leading men were white, this effectively blocked Asian actresses from playing romantic leads opposite them, forcing studios to cast white women in Asian roles (yellowface) to maintain the romantic plotline.

As for blaming 'whites for our bad choices,' we never asked whites to sprayed Agent Orange on Vietnam, bombed Laos that left un-exploded munitions that make some 60% of the fertile land useless as we speak. That goes for many indigenous Latin Americans, etc., etc.

No demographic has contributed as much to Western civilization as White people. Make a list of the 1,000 greatest, most important, most influential figures in the history of our civilization, and 975 of them will be White men. We are the creators and guardians of the world you live in - the most productive, entrepreneurial, innovative, best-organized, most hard-working group of people!

When a low-iq racist white person talk like this, it's generally a scared little person who have nothing to show for, in life, other than to tout the achievements of others. Where most sane people of all background would admire the achievements of great men and women, racist idiots weaponize it. The notion that, say a Chinese person, improves upon a white European invention, somehow that nullify the genius of Chinese person is a ridiculous notion. It is as if that doesn't require original and abstract thinking to invent new ideas on top of the original. Imagine me, a Southeast Asian person, claiming a Chinese, Japanese and Korean innovations as part of mine and my ethnic group's intrinsic genius. If racist whites are going to go that route, then why ignore the invention of the gun powder? The gun powder gave the Europeans the tool to fulfill their violent nature, just saying.

I'M PROUD TO BE WHITE. WHITE LIVES MATTER!!

There's nothing wrong with be proud of oneself and one's people. I'm proud to be Southeast Asian, but I am not genocidal about it. The 'Proud to be white' usually comes with violent intent.

Your model minority status will get attacked again, this time by other minorities. This seems to be rising in France, but pretty sure gonna spread to the rest of the western sphere in coming years. Don't expect the yt government to come help you because they have only done you harm in the past.

I myself have started to plan to move back to Asia. Better to build my own people than being attacked from both sides.

Op/Ed Jonathan Choe (Asian Conservative) is a Walking-Talking Contradiction

I am not a true believer or a devotee to the mainstream liberalism. My  grievances with the Republican brand and American conservatism boils down to three things, Perpetual War*,* Socialism for the Rich (taxes should go to captain of industry and they will trickle it down to the rest of us) and Their Perpetual Mission to Take Away the Social Safety-net*.* The latter have more to do with racism than the supposed evil of socialism they have been spewing since the ending of WW2. White conservative think social safety-net ONLY goes to minorities.

Introduce you to this moron Asian Man Conservative Jonathan Choe (Link is from The University of Washington Article). I can spend days breaking this guy's psychology and compiling a list of hypocrisy. Check out the headline in his latest Facebook Post, he literally blames Asians for the homelessness and crime in Seattle's Chinatown/International District and praised Nick Shirley for his expose` of Lam's Seafood EBT fraud. Choe's hypocrisy here is that he postures himself as proponent of Asian business in the Seattle area, but he never does any actual deep-dive into anything. He file reports for Turning Point U.S.A, appeared on Fox News and other right-wing news outlets because they milk him his hatred of Seattle and Washington State's liberal governments, shine lights on the homeless problem in Seattle but does nothing else but lip-service for the right-wing media. He filed the 'Blame The Asians' report on the 11th of October, praised Nick Shirley, but since Shirley's report have been debunked as misleading, Jonathan Choe have kept mum about it, no retraction, nothing.

Choe's new target now is the protest in France where he echoes the Right-Wing media talking of blaming it on migrants. Just to show how incompetent he is and a white-bootlicker supreme that he is, he ignores the protests in other European countries, which would have given a clearly picture of the economic root of the economic crisis that plagues Europe due to their proxy war of choice by supporting Ukraine and supporting [Ise@rl](mailto:Ise@rl). In a sense, Johnathan Choe is the epitome of the right-wing/conservative philosophy, fear mongering through spreading minimal information to stroke fear. Now, he and Nick Shirley just slapped Asians across American as scammers and thieves.

In my opinion: The entire system sees Asians as pushovers, and they're right. It's not that we Asians don't want to fight back, but it is because Asians aren't organized due to division, and people like Choe is a contributing factor. In the eyes of the dominance society, Asians are stuck between Boba-Libs and Conservative Asian Bootlicks like Choe. Now, The Tangerine man dangle the possibility of stripping people of their naturalized citizenship if they cause trouble.

Regarding the EBT fraud happening in Chinatown/International District, it is what it is because the city knows that Chinatown/International District is the only place where the homeless can spend their EBT. Scamming or not, the city turns the other cheeks because it's lesser evil option. I can't read the Asian business owners' minds, but if I were them, being stuck between a rock and hard place, I would have the mindset of 'It is what it is.' It's not Asian's businesses' job to regulate anyone, especially under the strict rule governing the rights of EBT card holders. Targeting Asian businesses is just going for the low hanging fruit. If anyone bother to do the math, how much no one is getting rich off it? If I am generous and say every single one of those homeless people sell their EBT, it's not going to make a dent in the city's budget compared to KICKBACKS Trump paid his buddy $14 million to do the reflecting pool; ICE over paying Trump's buddies by hundreds of millions of dollar for their useless warehouses for the 'PURPOSE' of housing illegal migrants detainees, or Christy Noem spending $220 millions overpaying her friends for her commercials? These are just the ones we know of.

Check this ouut, I'm just a dumb-a$$ on Reddit doing a much better job at reporting on frauds than supposed journalists Johnathan Choe and Nick Shirley.

Op/Ed Elon Musk is the Modern Captain of Industry Great White Hope

Thumbnail
youtube.com
12 Upvotes

Preface:

  • I sincerely love living in the U.S., and I do not have a sweeping hate of Americans. I am, however, annoyed by the MAGA, Tea Party and under whatever other names they went by in the past. It is because they are useful idiots. The oligarchs use them as the symbol of Murica and drown out the voice of reasons.
  • The Great White Hope refers to both a racist historical term and a 1970 biographical drama film. The phrase describes a white boxer expected to defeat the reigning champion Jack Johnson, the first African American world heavyweight champion. The term gained notoriety through the efforts of writer Jack London and reflected the intense racial backlash against Johnson’s dominance in the ring.
  • In modern contexts, the term is largely considered offensive and archaic, though it occasionally appears in sports commentary as a disparaging label for white contenders challenging Black champions. Its usage today is generally restricted to historical discussions or as a critique of racial dynamics in sports media.

To understand why I call Elon Musk the modern captain of industry Great-White-Hope, we have to step back to the 1980s was there was a guy by the name Lee Iacocca whom the media touted as the savior of the American industries, not just the auto industry, despite him only being the head of Chrysler at the time. Lee Iacocca was supposed to have been the answer to the 'Japan Panic.' Just simply do a YouTube search on the Lee Iacocca, you'll get the sense of what the American oligarchs were going for at the time. There's a sample what I mean (YouTube timestamped link).

These are but a small samples of

During the decade of 1980s, Japan was dominating the auto and electronic industries by making better and more reliable products and selling them at a cheaper price. Although I wasn't aware of the context back then because I was just a kid; I do remember constantly seeing Americans having 'Japan Panic' everywhere in the media. That panic/anxiety stretched into the 1990s. Actually, Japanophobia didn't fade until it was replacement with China. Some of you probably heard the saying, "History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes" - attributed to Mark Twain. Well, I'm here to tell you guys that, sometime, history does repeat itself because Elon Musk is an exact carbon-copy of Lee Iaccoca. How is that exact? Elon Musk's flying car stunt and how the media, particularly, the conservative media is treating as a win over China. My favorite YouTuber, RM Brown, put it best in this his 40 minute take on the Elon's car stunt. Simply, like Lee Iaccoca and other white hope/white hype, it's just flares over substance. I wish American industry succeed, but not like this because it's full of hot air.

Discussion/Question Why Humanities and Social Sciences are the next boundary to push for Asian diaspora

I dug up a little bit of statistics on degrees obtained in the United States by race and came across this little chart from 2021:

Source: https://www.equityinhighered.org/indicators/undergraduate-completion/field-of-study-for-bachelors-degree-recipients/

70% Asians received degrees in STEM, Business, and Health, while only 18% received degrees in Humanities and Social Sciences, which include history, political sciences, history, philosophy, and psychology, and only 8.5% in applied fields such as law and communication. This statistically reflects the current distribution of Asian workforce obtained by the BLS, where you can see Asians typically dominate in computers, engineering, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, and wholesale businesses. I am sure these numbers will vary just slightly in other countries, but for the most part, I think they paint a similar picture of Asians across the world. This is all nice and well, but I argue that the Asian diaspora should take a greater interest in political, social sciences, history, philosophy, and law in their country of residence because these fields will help in better Asian presence and representation.

Role of Asian Diaspora

The Asian diaspora has a very important role in the greater pan Asian representation. They hold a unique position of Asians as people and culture, serving as the bridge between their home countries to the greater world. They are the frontline, the pioneers, to show that Asians can lead, succeed, and dominate the world, not just as background characters. However, I find it baffling how some Asian Americans would emphasize on being strictly Americans while sipping on matchas and watching Kdrama at home, as if their identities as Asian can be separated just because they are in the US. Your identity does not change just because you change locations. Studies of your own roots and history of your forefathers can greatly shape how you see yourself as a person and instil deep respect and values to your being and position in this modern and multicultural society. The history of Asian Americans is full of so much tenacity, courage, and entrepreneurship, but sadly neglected or shamefully cast away by Asians themselves, and as a result, our parents and grandparents fail to teach the next generations of who they are. They instead force their kids to strictly study mathematics and sciences to become doctors and engineers as if those are the only things that matter.

Progress in Asia will not help you

Political and social representation of the Asian communities aboard are wholly owned by them. No amount of Kpop or economic progress in their home countries can fight these battles for them. Asian Americans face their own unique political and social challenges in the US. Asian Europeans have their own. Even within Asian ethnic communities, such as ethnic Chinese in South East Asia, have their own unique history and political situations that they themselves must face and address. This is why despite all the progress in their respective home countries, they are still facing discrimination at all stages of life from school to work to politics and even daily social lives, because they are not learning the right subjects and thus unable to take necessary actions to correct them.

History, philosophy, political, social sciences are the answers to your ailments. Do not get discouraged from learning these subjects just because there’s no immediate economic benefits unlike doctors, engineers, and business. Do not discourage your own kids if they want to major in them. While you do not necessarily need to get a degree in these, having keen understanding will greatly serve you personally. If you are 30+ with a stable job, I highly recommend you start learning these things and study them as if you are going to write a thesis. Read books, develop and discuss ideas with your peers. Great leaders of revolutions have always been students of history, political, and social sciences. For example, Sun Yat Sen took great interest in economy, history, and politics while he was in Hawaii. Gandhi and Lee Kwan Yew were lawyers. These are not accidental. Social and political leaderships require words, speeches, and public discourse, not mathematical equations.

To conclude, I think social and political leadership will be far more important than ever for the future. AI will slowly take those engineering jobs away, but it can never take your identity and leadership away. Asian representation in your own respective country is wholly owned by you and yours to fight. China cannot save you. Kpop cannot save you. Remember that the pen can be mightier than the sword in some cases, and I think this is one of those.

Media/Snark Nick Shirley - Bird of a Feather Flock Together

Preface: I became aware of Patrick Bet-David way before Trump's first term through a Laotian friend who worship both David and Trump. Bet-David's social media career started out interviewing ex-cons, war veterans (the kind that bragged about killing) and other low-lives of society. His overall vibe was one of hiding behind the 'anyone can pull yourself up by their own bootstraps' slogan as a part of the RIGHT WING coordinated attack on the left, particularly the MeToo Movement and Black Lives Matter. From the start, Bet-David rubbed me the wrong way because, for me, I can sense when someone is full of crap. Well, when I read up on him, his shady business dealings didn't surprise me at all.

The conservative political pundit, Patrick Bet-David, is the money behind Nick Shirley, the a$$hole behind, supposed, Lam's Seafood EBT controversy. You may know Patrick Bet-David through his Valuetainment YouTube channel. To make it brief, Patrick Bet-David made his millions running a 'multi-level marketing (MLM) firm selling life insurance. The legality of his business model was a matter of a loophole.

Patrick Bet-David founded and ran PHP Agency, a financial services company that operates as a multi-level marketing (MLM) firm selling life insurance. While critics, including YouTubers like Coffeezilla and various online forums, characterize this structure as a pyramid scheme due to its heavy reliance on recruitment fees and the fact that most agents earn little to no income, the business model is technically legal as long as it sells actual products.

Regulatory investigations, such as one by a Memphis TV station and reviews from the Better Business Bureau, have concluded that PHP Agency operates as a lawful MLM rather than an illegal pyramid scheme. However, the structure has drawn significant criticism for disproportionately benefiting top recruiters while placing the majority of participants in a financial disadvantage, a dynamic often likened to a "lottery" where most players lose money.

Nick Shirley family members are no saints either.

Nick Shirley’s family has not been criminally convicted of fraud, but his parents, Paul and Brooke Shirley, were defendants in a 2018 federal bankruptcy adversary proceeding in Utah. The court-appointed trustee alleged they and other family-linked entities engaged in fraudulent transfers of assets from the collapsed Thrive National/Thrive Systems company to insiders, including Brooke’s sister Amy Hall and a related entity, Maiton, LLC.

-The case was jointly dismissed in 2021, consistent with a settlement, with no public trial or criminal judgment.

-One source claims the family paid a $20,000 settlement in 2021, but this is not corroborated by other reporting, which describes the matter as a civil dispute without criminal charges.

-Critics have cited these civil allegations to question Shirley’s credibility, while supporters and media fact-checks note that civil accusations are not equivalent to criminal guilt and that no proven criminal fraud has been established against his family.

AI Summary of Nick Shirley relationship with billionaire Patrick Bet-David. I know some of you don't like AI write-up, but I don't want to go back and read up on a decade worth of casual reading.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nick Shirley is associated with billionaire Patrick Bet‑David, who is the founder and CEO of Valuetainment Media and has promoted Shirley’s work.

According to a Valuetainment YouTube video titled “Largest Fraud In The WORLD! – Inside Nick Shirley’s BILLION DOLLAR Minneapolis’ Daycare Fraud Bust”, the channel — run by Patrick Bet‑David — features Shirley’s investigative content on Minnesota daycare funding fraud YouTube. In that video, Bet‑David is explicitly identified as the founder and CEO of Valuetainment Media, and the clip is presented as part of his own media platform YouTube.

Patrick Bet‑David is a well‑known conservative media entrepreneur, author, and self‑described “billionaire” in the media and consulting space. He has built Valuetainment Media into a major outlet for conservative commentary and has frequently collaborated with and promoted independent journalists like Nick Shirley YouTube.

Key points:

  • Billionaire: Patrick Bet‑David
  • Role: Founder and CEO of Valuetainment Media
  • Connection to Nick Shirley: Bet‑David’s media platform has featured Shirley’s investigative videos, and he has publicly promoted his work YouTube.

Note: While Bet‑David is the billionaire behind the media platform that has promoted Nick Shirley’s content, there is no public evidence that Shirley is directly employed by Bet‑David or that Bet‑David personally funds his work. The association is through media collaboration and promotion.

Racism Watch Asian woman faces racism in Montenegro

Asian-American woman faces racism from teenagers in Montenegro mocking Mandarin & howling dog sounds. Let’s support her / other Asians by bringing attention to this and the arguments by native Montenegrins in the comment section denying this behavior is appalling. I, as tall built Asian-American man haven’t faced Ching chong racism until I came to Montenegro as well and on several occasions by teenagers here in Montenegro. There is clearly a gaping lack of education in this country even in comparison to other Eastern and Southern European countries by miles. Please do not go to Montenegro and spend your money there, even if youre trying to save money to go to an affordable country. Your money and time is support, and the lack thereof is also a choice.

Why would they even mock a country that has contributed magnitudes to world history, old and modern.
Montenegro people has never contributed anything to history.

News The Breakfast Club names Khuslen Saruultuya, the Florida man who shot the Uber driver for stalking his gf at her home, the "Donkey of the day"

I get that the whole segment is about clowning someone, but Lenard decides to be racist right off the bat as he starts the segment by making fun of Khuslen's name with Jess cackling like a hag at it in the background.

And while he makes sure to let the audience know that Khuslen is being charged with drug possession too by bringing it up repeatedly, he conveniently leaves out the part where the driver came back at 3:25 AM at the woman's home to ask for her number despite her saying no the first time around like a psychotic stalker. All to frame Khuslen as an insecure bf who's apparently also dumb as rocks too, deserving of the donkey title.

Diaspora Experience Asians for the win again. This time in Scotland

Post image
44 Upvotes

The far-right is on the rise in Scotland for the first time, well, EVER really and Musk is boosting them so when you start hearing about things happening there through the lens of far-right talking heads on social media, keep these stats in mind as to the REAL reason why the native Scots might be falling behind.

FSM is Free School Meals eligibly, it's a standard way of adjusting for socioeconomic factors to give a better like-for-like comparison of ethnicity alone.

And it's not just various types of Asians, Africans are doing well there too.

EDIT: These are the results of the end of schooling exams that all pupils in Scotland take at the age of 16. They are equivalent to GCSEs in England and Wales (Scotland has a slightly different educational system). Level 6 and above are the highest levels of attainment and therefore the hardest to achieve. The FSM adjustment tries to remove societal factors like poverty, which always have an effect on educational attainment, to give a better like-for-like comparison with their ethnicity as the only difference between the groups.

Media/Snark People are Waking Up to Lies in Nick Shirley's Lam's Seafood Asian Market EBT/SNAP Scam Hit Piece

Thumbnail facebook.com
51 Upvotes

Actual multiple crime was committed ON video, but it wasn't by Lam's Seafood Asian Supermarket:

  • Nick Shirley bought an EBT/SNAP card on the street from someone (Crime - Buying EBT/SNAP).
  • Nick Shirley offered to sell EBT/SNAP card for the Asian woman (Crime - Offering to Sell EBT/SNAP).
  • Nick Shirley accompanied to woman into Lam's Seafood Asian Supermarket to have her purchase food (Crime - In the Process of Selling EBT/SNAP).
  • Nick Shirley and his buddies barraged the Asian woman whom they sold the stolen EBT/SNAP card too (Crime - Entrapment of the Asian Woman).

People are wising up to Nick Shirley's clutching at straws to defend himself from Lam's Seafood's very competent clapping back against the accusation of EBT/SNAP fraud (links below). Checkout the negative comments on the video Nick Shirley posted himself on Facebook. Even people who are his longtime fans are questioning his hit piece of Lam's Seafood Asian Market.

I am glad Lam's Seafood is fighting back. The local conservative pundits like Brandi Cruz, in this video, are or was in the process of using Lam's Seafood as the symbol of minority owned businesses' corruptions. Local conservative pundits gripe about the city of Seattle or the Washington State giving grants to local minority owned businesses that operate in depressed neighborhoods to fight against 'FOOD DESERT.' Even after Lam's Seafood presented their case and debunking Nick Shirley's accusations, Brandi Cruz still came out with - "Well it's time the government look at their record books, just to be sure." Her/their cognitive dissonance wouldn't allow her to concede that she was wrong.

Of course, look at who was supporting Nick Shirley with a softball criticism.

L\** Nguyen (An Asian Woman)*

Hi Nick, I’ve been follows you for quite some time since you broke a huge fraud case in Minnesota . I’m a good supporter for what you do. But this one I think you have jump into a quick conclusions and not investigate deeper before you put this video on social media and call person a committing a fraud. It happened similar story all over the country as you already know, The problem is the government allowing people take advantage of government system for so long and not be able to keep track. The system need to be fixed and only give 2-3 years terms and require people get back on their own and food stamps or housing will no longer beneficial for them.

Ps. Also this person is a language barrier and she doesn’t understand what you’re trying to said, you should go to the one who have authority to all this problem . Please clarify the video and don’t let people think you are wrong in this case, Good luck.

Addendum:

Dumb-a$$es sitting at home Judging Lam's Seafood and other Asian business by citing previous investigations into Lam's Seafood, etc., etc. are f**king clueless about how the law dictates to the store owners of what they can and can't do. Store owners are limited because they are NOT ALLOWED to shame people due to the social stigma associated with using EBT/SNAP. Store owners can't deny services to anyone other than trouble makers. If there was, lets say,1 legit EBT/SNAP card holders being mistreated out of 1,000 scammer who sue the store, it's a big legal headache for the store owners. I know this part because my girlfriend used to work at a produce department. Someone sued the store for denying service. It only takes one lawsuit to succeed. Critics act as if the cashier are superhuman with eagle-eyes looking out for scammers. Then, there is the scenario where a caregiver at a group home shopping for more than one disabled elderly EBT/SNAP recipients. Non of the stuff I said here is 'WHAT-IF-ISM.'

Anyone remember Ming Tsai? One of my favorite chefs. It's too bad his restaurant Blue Ginger closed down. He was a guest speaker at my wife's graduation and I was impressed at effortlessly he spoke. He's definitely a natural tv guy.

Diaspora Experience After a few years abroad in Europe, it’s time to go. The racism got to me.

I’ve been abroad living in various European countries for a few years. I don’t want to give specifics. But I’m leaving next month. The blatant racism and more subtle microaggressions is exhausting. I can’t do it anymore. I get it from all ages and genders. The anti-Asian racism is normalized and even celebrated. It has torn me up in many ways.

I’m not posting this in any expat or travel sub because I know I’ll be attacked… “yeah but XYZ” “You’re too sensitive” “The politics are different. Those comments aren’t offensive like you think they are.” “just ignore it”

It’s tough as I saw myself making my life here. But it got hard and hard to do that dealing with horrible and closed minded people.

I guess I feel sad. Like I’m giving up. Maybe I’ll regret it. Right now though I’m TIRED of fearing to exist.

Discussion/Question Asian separatism (Jungle Asian trend)

Trigger Warning

I'm probably going to get a cesspool of downvotes and a lot of hate for saying this, but this is something that's been weighing on my mind for a little while now, and it's something I wanted to speak about.

One thing I've been noticing online when it comes to a lot of Southeast Asians is a growing sense of separatism toward East Asians. First of all, I understand that, in general, different Asian ethnicities have a history of dealing with separatism. I also understand that colorism is still an issue in Asian communities, and I'm not denying that or suggesting it's completely gone. However, in my experience, East Asians nowadays seem to be relatively non-racist compared to the stereotypes and prejudices that have historically existed. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but that's just been my personal experience.

Lately, though, I've been noticing what seems to be a lot of hostility and separatist behavior coming from some Southeast Asians on social media.

One trend I've been seeing is people referring to themselves as "jungle Asians" and saying things like, "We're not the konnichiwa, sushi-eating, straight-A Asians." The way I interpret this rhetoric, it almost implies that Southeast Asians are the tough ones, the cool ones, and the non-stereotypical Asians, while East Asians are reduced to the usual stereotypes.

And honestly, that rubs me the wrong way.

To be clear, I don't have a problem with Southeast Asians. My issue is with this particular discourse and the separatist behavior I've been noticing more frequently on social media. I think it needs to stop because it's creating unnecessary division between different Asian communities.

I also think some people don't realize that this rhetoric can actually hurt their own communities' reputations as well. Believe it or not, many Southeast Asians can pass as East Asians with darker skin, if that makes sense. I've noticed that a lot of Filipinos, in particular, look very East Asian to me, and I've been noticing this for years. It seems even more apparent to me lately.

I'm Korean, and I've been mistaken for Filipino many times. Likewise, I'm sure plenty of Filipinos and other Southeast Asians have been mistaken for Chinese, Korean, or other ethnicities. We don't always fit neatly into the categories people expect us to fit into based on our appearances.

That's part of why I think this rhetoric is counterproductive. Some people seem to want to distance themselves from East Asians so much that they want to be placed in a completely different category of Asians, or sometimes even want to be considered non-Asian altogether.

In my experience, Vietnamese people seem to be among the Southeast Asians who most openly embrace their Asian identity. Ironically, though, the whole "jungle Asian" label would fit them the most (I do not mean it in an offensive way by the way) considering the Vietnam War, the Viet Cong, and everything Vietnamese people endured during that period and so forth. Yet I see this rhetoric coming from a lot of Filipinos especially but other Southeast Asians as well.

The issue is that some people seem to be indirectly insulting East Asians by portraying us as soft, weak, sheltered, or defined by the stereotypes associated with us. Meanwhile, Southeast Asians are presented as the tough, cool, non-stereotypical Asians who supposedly don't fit those same expectations.

I understand what some people might be trying to accomplish. They want to reject the stereotypes associated with Asians and establish their own identities outside of those expectations because even they understand even today many non Asians don't care to separate and just see all Asians as...well Asians but if the way they do that is by indirectly insulting another subsection of Asians, then aren't they just reinforcing the same stereotypes they're supposedly trying to denounce?

It's a slippery slope, especially when you consider how much people judge others based on appearance alone. As I mentioned earlier, I'm Korean, yet I've been mistaken for Filipino many many times. I'm sure plenty of Southeast Asians have had similar experiences being mistaken for East Asian ethnicities. So I don't think promoting this kind of narrative is good for either side.

I understand wanting to distinguish your culture and identity from those of other Asian communities. There's nothing wrong with that but there is a fundamental difference between celebrating your own identity and trying to establish it by putting another group down.

And when people repeatedly use this kind of rhetoric, I think there's clearly at least some undertone of separatism involved. I don't think it's fair to dismiss that possibility outright or pretend that this kind of discourse is purely pride and honoring their own specific culture

Anyway, I'm prepared for the cesspool of downvotes, the hate, the gaslighting and taking what I said the wrong way and flip what I said but I wanted to bring attention to something I've been noticing and get it off my chest.

If I haven't made it clear by now, I have the utmost respect for Southeast Asians and Asians in general. This isn't about disliking Southeast Asians or criticizing them as a whole. My issue is with this particular trend itself, (not the people) I've been seeing on social media and the unnecessary division it seems to encourage.

My problem isn't with Southeast Asians. My problem is with the rhetoric and the growing sense of separatism that some people seem to be promoting.

Edit: The people here gaslighting and making excuses for this is exactly why we'll never get anywhere

Media/Snark Nick Shirley caught spreading misinformation on Vietnamese community enabling food stamp fraud

TL;DR:

Nick Shirley badgers elderly Vietnamese lady into saying "yes" when he repeatedly asks her if she's committing food stamp fraud (even though it's clear that she doesn't understand him and misunderstands his intentions). He then makes her take him to the seafood store where she buys her stuff and baselessly accuses all the staff there of being complicit in fraud.

Diaspora Experience Young Asian police officer takes charge and forces creep filming girls in Manchester to go away

So much to like about this video, but primarily that he has other, white police officers with him, but it feels so natural for him to be laying down the law here. The man he's forcing to go away clearly did not expect that assertive tone from him, nor did he expect to get his hand swatted away so dismissively, and for the cop to move in on him and force him to back away.

His youth, even his shorter stature might lead people to have made wrong assumptions about him, but it goes to show that perceptions around Asian masculinity are little more than a hollow stereotype. Loved this

As I have stated time and time again regarding foreigners coming to Asia. This is another water is wet scenario of course but why are so many East/Southeast Asians this socially inept, what is the driving force of this bullshit and not being able to pick up on it

Vietnam gets a shoutout as of recent since they are naturalizing anyone with " outstanding " talents. So a bunch of soccer players are coming from Africa, Europe, Middle East, and Latin America to get naturalized all of the sudden.
