Question Light on/off
Alexa has turned lights on and off randomly for about 24 hours. Bedroom light came on at 3 am. Living room lights have gone off and on at least 3 times. What's happening? Is there a repair?

A few days ago I was sitting on my bed watching tik tok with my earphones. It was around 11 pm and I laughed at something I saw on tik tok when suddenly my alexa played my laughter. I didn’t say anything like ‘record’ or smth like that. I didn’t even say her name. It was really creepy.

See video here. When telling Amazon Music to play on either of my two Echos, I get an odd “skipping” behavior as though the sound stops playing while the track is playing in the background. Notice how the song continues to play on beat even though several seconds are missed.
No amount of power cycles fixes it, and no amount of router power cycles fixes it either. It can’t be a buffering issue because the song still plays on beat. And now my second Echo is starting to exhibit the same behavior.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is going on?

Has anyone else noticed that the echo show 11 has an issue with the alarm volume? Sometimes it works just fine, but other times when the alarm goes off, it will be so soft that you can barely hear it. Like it changes its volume setting to one. But it doesn't. If you look in the settings for the device, the alarm volume could be set at eight or nine and still does not sound hardly at all. It's barely audible. When you then speak to the echo, her voice is at full volume, and music plays at full volume with no problem. But the alarm volume is barely audible. I have tried everything. Literally the only fix is to unplug it and then plug it in again, and then the alarm is back up to its normal volume. It's absolutely unreliable to use as an alarm clock, and sadly that's what I bought it for in my bedroom. I'm wondering if I just need to get a different Amazon device there or something different altogether. And it's been going on for about a year since I purchased it. Furthermore, it is not just that particular device. I have 13 Amazon echoes in my home and two of them are echo shows. Both echo shows only exhibit the same issue. Both dropped the alarm volume to an audible. The only fix is to power down and then power up again. I can't be the only one.....

Hey everyone,
I wanted to start a discussion and document a recurring issue I’ve been analyzing regarding the Alexa+ Preview conversational context across devices.
Specifically, there is a distinct structural breakdown and memory degradation occurring when transitioning active conversational sessions between physical hardware (e.g., Echo Dot) and the Alexa mobile app.
Key Technical Observations:
1. Cross-Device Context Loss: Active session state, short-term memory buffers, and multi-turn conversational threads completely drop or reset when shifting from an Echo Dot interaction to the mobile interface.
2. Architecture vs. Session Resets: Rather than maintaining a persistent neuro-symbolic logic frame across endpoints, the pipeline appears to treat endpoint shifts as hard session disconnects, wiping active dynamic variables.
3. Contrast with True Conversational AI: Comparing this against early conversational architectures (like Evi) or persistent contextual models, the current preview implementation struggles to pass state tokens smoothly across heterogeneous endpoints.
Has anyone else in the preview program observed this specific cross-device context drop? If you've analyzed the session traffic or found any local workarounds to keep context persistent across hardware, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Last night \[21-10-26\] around 12:30 AM, I was scrolling through on my phone when I suddenly heard my Amazon Alexa say, “Welcome,” from the next room. (I had set up its motion sensors so that whenever someone entered the room, Alexa would automatically say, “Welcome.” ) But at that moment, I was just Laying in bed using my phone, and out of nowhere, Alexa detected something and said, “Welcome.” and the whole room was empty when i checked.

i set mine up thinking i'd use it for everything. and it ended up being timers, music, and the weather.
there's a whole list of stuff it can do, but i never remember the exact words, and saying it out loud in front of other people feels weird anyway.
so what do you really use yours for? and is there anything you stopped using because you couldn't be bothered to remember how to ask

I‘m trying to watch Paramount+ on my echo show 11 with the integrated silk browser but I keep getting error 3304. How can I fix it?

I made a comparison tool of some of the Echo Projects (mine included). This is not intended to be a who wins but a tool for users/potential users to see what each project offers. If ANYTHING needs added, fixed, removed, or you have suggestions to make it better please let me know. The tool can be found here: https://huskerminion.github.io/techo5/comparison/
EDIT: Another way to search the same data (pick devices, then features) https://huskerminion.github.io/techo5/comparison/choose/#d=echo-show-5-2&s=1

Since Amazon has discontinued the Echo Link, it hasn’t worked with my record player. I used to use my Echo Link to play my records to speaker groups around the house, but earlier this year it seems to have stopped working. I put off the trouble shooting but for the last week or so I have been troubleshooting and looking online for resources. It appears that the Link has been put to pasture and is no longer supported and many seem to have the same issue. Anyone else having similar issues? If it truly is a goner, anyone have any suggestions for a way to accomplish the same thing, analog record player to echo speaker groups?

I have an echo dot but its speaker driver tore a little, need to source a new one. I think the specs are 1.5 INCH 40MM Audio Speaker 4Ohm 8W. Any idea where I might be able to get one in India ?

Heya,
I have a -lot- of reminders to help me in my mental struggle of a goldfish memory life.
My echo dot's are still going off, but I no longer get push notifications. I have tripled checked phone and app settings and they are all on, yet still I get no push notifications from my Amazon Alexa app.
Other apps are fine, and they do appear in my 'notifications' list in the app, but I don't wanna manually check each time I miss one.
Any idea/experience?
Thanks!

Its been going on for at least a few days now. If i ask "What's 20 divided by 2" the echo answers back "Twenty divided by two" and stops. Even in a followup the answer is either non-existent or non-sensialcal. Has anyone else seen this?

Hi, I have an Echo Show 8 (latest generation) and two older Echo Dots. Until a few days ago, all three showed up as devices in the Alexa app, and I could set an alarm on one of the Dots from the app.
Now the devices have disappeared.
I re-added them in the app, but they only show up as groups, not as devices anymore. I can no longer change any settings on the Dots. And when I set an alarm in the app, it can only ring in the app itself. Neither the Dots nor the Show can be selected as the alarm device.
I can still set an alarm on the Dot itself by voice command, just not through the app.
Could this have something to do with Alexa+? There seem to have been some changes recently. (I use Alexa+ on the Show 8; the Dots aren't compatible. But until now, the mix worked fine.)

With Alexa now the thing will listen for a full 20 seconds after you stop talking, and sometimes I have had it continue to listen even longer than 20 seconds. Is there ANY way to make it stop listening as soon as it is done answering so it doesn't start thinking I am talking to it while I am trying to answer my mom directly after asking the dumb thing a question?

Anyone found a way to make the video work? Funnily enough, ads work ok.
Thanks!

This happens constantly. I've not opened Amazon Music on any of my devices yet this shows up on the same Echo Show 5 ten or twelve times a week, the sound bars bouncing around indicating something is playing somewhere (in this case Yo-Yo Ma) though no sound is audible. No voice commands will convince it to stop, pause or quit. The only method I've found to dismiss the widget is to restart the device.
But it will be back. Oh, yes, it will be back. Anyone know what's going on here and how to make it stop?
