Our bodies don't like sustained low gravity and sustained radiation exposure. Or lacking adequate natural resources for survival, prompting the question why would we?

He wants to build large spinning space stations at a Lagrange point. Unless technology makes an extremely, extremely rapid leap, it ain’t happening in 19 years
Billionaires always think they are the smartest people in the room and that their ideas are the best

Only explanation is he might think world will be inhatible because of emissions

There aren’t even enough intelligent people on earth for that to be true. You can’t just throw people into space. They have to be trained, methodical and logical human beings. Basically low-level astronauts at best. All these billionaires have the dumbest predictions and takes on every issue. These men are not geniuses, the people that work for them are.

Unless you go with the expanse style setup of impoverished belters who are weak from lack of gravity, trying earn a pittance mining space

u/kevonicus 2d ago
You can’t have workers mining in space until smart people go first to set all that up for decades. Definitely would never happen in twenty years like this moron is saying.

Unky Jeff had to acquire a robotics company for any chance of having an automation capability that worked reliably.

Smelling your own farts all day, being surrounded by yes men and having unhealthy amounts of money are apparently very detrimental to someone's mental health and intelligence.

People can’t survive long term effects of being anywhere else but earth. Why is this even a discussion?

Wake me up when that colony on Mars is done.
Fwiw. Assuming none of the other million things go wrong just being in space (outside the protection of earth's atmosphere) increases cellular aging by a factor of 10. Fuck that.

u/jjmoreta 3d ago
What work will there be to do up there anyways?
And let's say somehow in the next decade we would able to get colonies going. Highly unlikely and I doubt we'll be able to solve the radiation problems unless we build underground.
But the costs of living up there are going to be ridiculous. You're either going to be doing manual labor in space suits or ultra rich and risking damage to yourself by being in low gravity and exposed to high doses of radiation.
Just read about what any astronaut that spends any length of time on the ISS comes back with.

Lol no we won't. We can barely get back to the moon without rockets fucking up and we have so many problems here on earth still.

I assume this will go the same way as when musk said people would be living on mars around now..........................

What exactly is the allure of living on mars? It would be neat to have a few permanent research stations for science, OK maybe some mineral extraction for materials that are economically viable/impossible to get on earth.
But unless we’re gonna terra-form mars there is no reason I would ever want to personally go there. Except maybe as a relatively cheap once in a lifetime vacation. But even then like wtf is there to do?
Planet earth works just fine for the human race and we should should be working really hard to keep it that way.

If I wanted to look at a patch of dirt with long stretches of nothing I'd just go live in the desert. F mars I'm staying here

Ok. If it’s that soon (it won’t be) why don’t you and all your billionaire pals go first and get it ready for them, Jeff.

When you resort to name calling, it shows you have no argument and nothing to add to the discussion.

Let's stop listening to what they say. They are completely out of touch with reality.

Imagine how many rockets it would take to get a million people and supplies into space. Probably a million. There is no chance this happens.

Let’s start with the billionaires. And then stop

Yeah for real how about they take their genius on over. The ai and robots can pretend to be a rich a hole in a mid life crisis and these guys can make their way and discover space for us. Put em all in a spaceship and wave goodbye!

u/Casualposter 2d ago
Yeah I hear space is really great it’s where all the elite go. You all should totally join the other billionaires in space. Don’t worry about us we’ll just be toiling down here in Earth.

but why would they? millions living in space doing what? long term zero g is very destructive to your body

We already do live in space, just within a protective atmosphere of breathable air made worse by people like Jeff Bezos.

Let’s send him up now to get everything ready. Oh yeah, and turn off all the communication
