Venting Coming to the library sick???

• Upvotes

Look I understand (to some extent) coming to a class sick if it has a terrible attendence policy. But someone was genuinely coughing up a storm on a QUIET floor of the library to the point where people left that entire wing of the floor to avoid it. It was the type of coughing that makes you feel sick and (I may be slightly exaggerating) echoes through the room.

I say this in the nicest way possible. Please study at home or at the very least on a non quiet floor with a mask. šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

B/CS Life Disabled Voter Suppression at College Station Utilities Location

Just wanted to vent about my experience and warn anyone with disabilities who is planning on going out to vote.

The poll workers attempted to turn me away from the handicapped entrance, and this isn’t the first time that this has happened at this voting location. Not that it matters, but I have visible scars from two cervical spine surgeries (I’ve had 5 total surgeries on my spine, but the other three are thoracic or lumbar), I walk with a limp, I have a disabled placard and a medical device ID card. But since I’m in my early thirties and don’t use a mobility device, I guess I just don’t look disabled enough for them.

The woman running the location initially asked me what my disability was(legally she cannot do that), but suddenly she wasn’t interested when I offered to call up my surgeons or show her my medical ID. Like, I love talking about my disability. My academic background (got my degree from A&M this spring and plan to come back for my Masters next year) is in disability rhetoric, so, please, ask away.

By far the worst part of the experience was when I told her that they did the same thing to me two years ago, and she responded with ā€œwell, there are other voting locations.ā€ I even went out of my way to accommodate their nonsense this time. My friends are all going to vote on Sunday, but I decided to go alone this morning to avoid a crowd. I would have even waited in line if it wasn’t long, but unfortunately I’m currently dealing with a flare-up from the past week of crazy weather so it is extremely uncomfortable to stand in place for extended periods.

At least I was mentally prepared this time. Last time, I had to bail on my post-voting plans and to go to my girlfriend’s apartment and just cry with her for hours, and I was incredibly depressed for the next month or so from feeling so unseen.

Ask the Aggies Is anyone else having trouble with the AggieSpirit bus tracking map? 😤

Post image
8 Upvotes

I’m using the official Texas A&M app, and every time I try to check where the buses are, I get a warning saying ā€œThis Connection Is Not Private.ā€
The live bus locations aren’t showing up at all! I’ve attached a screenshot of the error.
Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me? Does anyone know what’s going on or when it’ll be fixed?

Ask the Aggies Limited Ballot Rather than driving home?

Howdy!

So I am a Harris County resident official and registered to vote there, though I don’t think I will be able to drive back home before the election ends.

I have two options though, 1- Drive to the closest polling center, cast my vote then drive back to Cstat. 2- Vote in Brazos County but a limited ballot (So State Sen, Governor, etc)

What do y’all think I should do?

Other The TAMU to Monsters Inc. Pipeline is Apparently a Lie

When I was a kid touring A&M sometime between the mid-2000s and mid-2010s (yes, that's an absurdly large window, but I'm not doxxing myself on Reddit lmao), I heard that Sulley from *Monsters, Inc.* was named after Sul Ross.

Naturally, I accepted this as gospel for well over a decade.

Unfortunately, I recently decided to investigate and discovered that the whole thing is apparently a myth. šŸ’€

So, like any reasonable person, I wrote an entire essay tracing the historical rabbit hole from Cynthia Ann Parker to a giant blue Pixar monster.

For anyone interested in my completely unnecessary investigation:

Academics Social anxiety project help, will pay for time

I’m doing a project on social anxiety and mental health in college students. One component requires asking questions from fellow students so I set up a form, if anyone is willing to help by answering the questions I can give the first participant a voucher code for $25 DoorDash.

New Student Questions Spring transfer sorority COB/ Spring Rush

Howdy!
TAMU is one of my top choices for transferring in Spring 2027, I’m going to be a sophomore and I was wondering what sorority rush would look like for me if I were to participate. I know I could always wait to do formal recruitment in the fall, but if I were to do it as a sophomore in the spring what would the process look like? If anyone has done this please help a girl out! What should I know about it, or should I just wait for the fall?

Academics Should I use my last Q drop on ISEN 320

Howdy! I’m a junior ISEN major taking ISEN 320 this semester. I did badly on the first exam, the class keeps getting harder, and I’m thinking about Q dropping it.

The problem is that it’s my last Q drop. Freshman year I didn’t understand how valuable they are, so I used them on classes where I was getting B’s instead of A’s to protect my GPA. Now I’m worried about two things:

  1. If I don’t drop and get a D or F, my GPA falls to around 3.1–3.2, which hurts for internship and full-time recruiting.
  2. If I do drop, I have no Q drop left for senior-year classes.

My plan is to go all in on Exam 2 and decide after. For anyone who’s been in a similar spot:

  • Did you use your last Q drop, and did you regret it?
  • How did retaking ISEN 320 (or another core ISEN class) affect your schedule or graduation?
  • Any tips for doing well in 320 from here?

Thanks y’all.

Ask the Aggies Tamu nursing spring 2027

howdy yall, I’m really nervous about the nursing application results. I wanted to go get some insight on my stats to gauge if I shojld basically have hope or not…I’m a re-applicant. I applied last semester for fall 2026…unfortunately I wasn’t accepted. I have improved my gpa and my medical experiences.

my overall hesi score was a 91 with a 84 in anatomy. (I hadn’t taken anatomy 1 or 2 atp so I studied the entire course in a week, and I didn’t have time over the summer to study to retake it)

core gpa: I think a 3.5? I have a few Bs

science gpa: I think a 3.89? only one B

overall Tamu gpa: 3.79

medical experience: I have my cna license (I got this over the summer and used it a lot in my interview) I also have some certifications like ekg tech that I got in highschool and my bls

volunteering: in a few Tamu service orgs like starlight aggies, ags reach, and volunteering through my Flo and slo

job experience: shift leader at my hometown ice cream shop the past three summers, and barista at sweet eugenes for a few months

leadership: I was a section leader in band in highschool and an officer for my Flo last year

languages: I can speak fluent English and Spanish, as well as intermediate French.

im very worried about my gpa and hesi score. However, I was confident in my interview, I felt much better than the last time I did the Kira talent. i talked about patient experiences while doing my clinicals, and my leadership at my job along with customer interactions. i check every single email notification on my phone and I’m growing more and more anxious everyday. šŸ˜•

Ask the Aggies 5 free wings Pluckers promotion at games?

Did they stop doing the 5 free wings at football games? I haven’t seen them put up any QR codes this semester. Was wondering if there was an official reason or something I haven’t seen anything about to online.
