The NES black box set... in magnet form.
It's beautiful... there's something so cool about that initial 30 game set, when I saw this auction pop up on eBay, I had to get it. The quality is top notch, and while they likely won't stay in a set here forever, it's really cool to look at right now.
I already have another 60 NES box art images on order from the same guy, lol.

‘The Lottery’ - the plot twist that my young mind couldn’t fully comprehend. Times may have changed, but the story seems familiar…

So what’s everyone reading?
I was talking to my Gen Z neighbor who didn’t know of Sleepy Hollow or Rip Van Winkle and now I want to read all the Irving stuff. I haven’t read it in years and what better time than now. I also liked those since I’ve been to Tarrytown, Irvington and Sleepy Hollow.

The old neighborhood.
I only live about a half mile from the house I grew up in. I often get to walk my dogs past the house my parents raised me in and see the houses my neighbors lived in.
It's all slowly been worn down, but still brought a smile to my face, until today. A few months ago, one of my old neighbors passed away and today I realized that he was the last neighbor to still be in that area.
All the other people I grew up with and around have all passed on or moved away. Now the slow wear and tear seems so much worse.
A bit sad and humbling. I sure miss those people. Didn't know where else to post it, and thought maybe some other Xs have similar experiences.
If your parents are still around. Make sure to hug them for me.

My first "computer" the Sears Talking Computron
I remember getting this for Christmas in 1986. It blew my mind at 7 years old. It talked and I could play Hangman! When I saw this pop up on eBay I had to pick it up for the nostalgia.

Discussion I Struggle with Emojis
I am not sure if it is my age or my personality but I cannot for the life of me understand when someone replies with a random emoji to a message I send them.
Like 🫢, is this shocked? Is it tired? or this! 😮💨 are we smoking? are we tired? (why are all emojis tired). I can't even get it most of the time from context clues and I just have to straight up say "I have no idea what you are conveying with this"
I am so old.

How differently do you parent your kids vs. how you were parented?
Are you guys more or less helicopter-y than your own parents? Does that cause conflict with your parents? I'm very much a "he'll learn from the consequences of his actions" parent, though I do have his phone lo-jacked.
Had a situation this morning where my kid slept through all 5 of his alarms. My mom called me at work freaking out, yelling and crying about how "she can't keep doing this" and that I need to start getting him up at 4:15 in the morning and bringing him next door to her house so that she can make sure he gets on the bus.
First of all, he's 13 and has been getting himself on the bus more or less successfully for the last year and a half (I get notifications when he leaves the house and arrives at school). Second, in that year and a half, I've never asked her to check on him or make sure he gets up. If he misses the bus, then he has to figure out how to fix that. That is on him. Finally, I'm absolutely not waking him up at oh-dark-thirty because my mother can't deal with her own anxiety. That is on her.
