💸 Raise Our Wages It’s been just over three weeks since unionized staff at SEIU unanimously voted down management’s “last, best, final” and voted to authorize a strike. Spooky season shouldn’t include wages that don’t keep up with the cost of living forcing SEIU staff to live in roach infested apartments!

💸 Raise Our Wages Gen Z across Europe is facing a housing and job crisis. How are young workers handling this in your country?

Post image

In many Southern and Western European countries, young workers are stuck between skyrocketing rent, bureaucratic red tape, and entry-level wages that haven't kept up with inflation. Instead of building a secure future, many of us feel like we're handing over our youth to systems designed by people who don't face these everyday struggles. We translated a document breaking down these generational barriers into 43 languages to connect with workers across Europe, but we want to hear real experiences: What is the single biggest economic barrier young workers are dealing with where you live right now?

💸 Raise Our Wages If home prices had simply followed worker wages since 1971, the average starter home today would cost $138,000. Instead Wall Street is on track to own 40% of single family rentals by 2030

Look at the math on what was stolen from the working class over the last fifty years

Since 1971, net worker productivity has grown more than 3.5 times faster than typical worker pay. If starter home prices had simply tracked middle class wage growth since 1970, a regular family home today would cost around $138,000.

Read that again. One regular 40 hour income used to buy a home, cover healthcare, and raise a family. Today, two people working 50 hours a week each can barely survive rent and groceries

Where did all the wealth we produced go? It didn't go to the loud tech CEOs on the Forbes billionaire list. Those guys are just the public lightning rods put on TV to keep us distracted. As an investigative piece breaks down, Forbes officially excludes multi generational family trusts and the 147 interlocking financial corporations that actually control 40% of the global economy..

The worst part is what those 147 institutional funds are doing with the money they siphoned off our paychecks. According to MetLife Investment Management's own forecast, Wall Street institutions are on track to control 40% of all single family rental homes in America by 2030.

The second half of that same writeup lays out why the corporate oligarchy intentionally dismantled the post 1971 working class: because workers who own a $138,000 home and aren't drowning in rent cannot be bullied by employers. They are turning the entire country into a 2030 company town where your boss's parent company is also your landlord.
