Because they have already been open for about 30 seconds to let people board (they were closing when the elderly man tried to get on). The driver has a sensor that a door isn't closed properly, and so they open it briefly for the person to remove the item that is stuck. People run and jump on all the time so it's very common for a jacket or something to get stuck in the door. It isn't intended to be open again for long as the boarding time has already passed

Probably was recording the train leaving when he came into view and then had the attention drawn. Why would you stop filming if you were already and had a suspicion he'd lose his cane.

It's hard to imagine that people would film little moments in their lives. I guess filming a train for video montage is a thing of the past. Nobody should ever film anything without a reason too.

Looks to me he's seen the guy and is aware of the tubes dodgy doors and films in anticipation. Video could also be cut short missing out the first bit.

And do what? Hold the doors open as they close? People have gotten seriously injured doing that, the doors might not register the resistance well.
