Lore “Hey that’s not so bad- SWEET JESUS”

A shot is set up in such a way where it looks fine from one angle, then they reveal another that makes it look way worse

Infinity War - Thanos reveals Nebula hanging up imprisoned, then when the camera follows Gamora going to her we see that mechanical components are stretched out and her head and body are in pieces.

Breaking Bad - Hector sets off a bomb in a murder suicide against Gus but he seems to walk out fine impossibly, then the camera moves to in front of him and you see half of his face is just not there anymore.

This famous scene which no one seems to have mentioned from Resident Evil.

Its immediately clear that it is - in fact - so bad, though

Actually when I first saw it in the cinema I thought they had turned the lasers off in time and he just had facial injuries.

Well, they visbily go right through him all the way, so most probably caught that

I thought he was a cool character and didn't want him to die. I was huffing copium at that point!

Fair enough :D

The "Oh, damn!" moment is when he's bracing himself to dodge the lasers, and you think he might just be the one to make it -- until they form the grid.

This is the first time seeing this gif that I've noticed the eye goop starting to leak out

This was the one I thought of too. Or the woman who gets her head cut off at the start of the sequence. We know she’s in trouble because of the guy who had his hand cut but it’s still a great shot.

Which was lifted from Cube (1997)

Nah. Cube was entirely different. They had wires!

I literally thought: hmm I remembered this scene less lasery, but heck I saw Cube so long ago, that maybe I remember it wrong

God I loved that movie

There's a similar scene in Final Destination 2 where a barbed wire fence is launched at Rory Peters, chopping him cleanly in thirds.

Isn't there another one too, where a dude is pinned against a chain link fence and a car or pressurized gas tank hits him and the back 1/2 of him gets chunked up?

Just back up lol

Unfortunately he's not good under pressure.... he just falls to pieces.

In this case this would have worked, but that was just an ultimate laser pass in a series of many (previous were possible to dodge, like a single laser line), and backing up wouldn't work cause they continued to the end of the chamber. The team outside simply happened to shut the defenses right after this pass hit him.

The better question here was why not just do the laser grid immediately, lol

Umbrella likes fucking with people. That’s honestly the most likely scenario

So the movie can happen!

Red Queen was like proto AI, not very smart, had to have training data (I don’t actually know)

to where? it was a locked/sealed hallway lol

u/PleiadesMechworks 3h ago

The laser literally stops like six inches behind him. One step back and he'd have been fine.

u/Sennten 3h ago

He has already dodged the laser multiple times at this point, and every previous time it went to the very back of the hall. He's got zero reason to believe that would help, and it probably would have gone further if he *had* stepped back.

The laser stops because of outside intervention, in the previous runs it always went all the way to the end of the hallway. Yes he would've been fine but he had no way of knowing it.

I see you havent seen the movie lol. The laser adapts to the person. Aka one person jumped so the laser suddenly flicked upward. It stopped because it killed him and already accomplished the task of eliminating intruders (look at the dead bodies on the floor). If he backed up, it wouldve kept going with him until he was dead.

I know, but it's funnier this way

The same actor gets diced up in a similar way from a Predator net in AvP.
