This Country Fan Merchandise Ideas

Hi all!

It’s amazing to see so many fellow nosy cockwombles come here to discuss this absolute beauty of a TV show! I’d like to wish a warm vicar-ly welcome to all the newcomers too!

One common question I have seen being asked here for the past years is “where can I get something that says this?”, with a reference to something from the show…

Well I have freed up some time and am dedicating it to creating some custom merch inspired by This Country…

If you have any ideas or custom requests, leave them in a comment below and I will create them and send them to you for free :)

Much love to all!

Kerry and the Kite

I can't count how many times I've watched This Country over the last decade, it never ever fails to make me laugh. Growing up in Somerset it is so close to how I grew up, it's just genius.

Whenever I feel depressed I always watch this clip and it always makes me feel better :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzq4KfpI-dk

"I’ve never seen Arthur laugh. He told me he ain’t laughed since he was part of the squadron that carpet-bombed Dresden. Which either means it was so harrowing he hasn’t laughed since, or it was the last thing that genuinely tickled him”.

Anyone know why Paul Cooper is no longer on Instagram?

Paul was pretty prolific on Insta but his account has vanished. I know he has a big Pantomime role as Scrooge this winter so I hope it’s just that he’s concentrating on that and will be back in due course.

Favourite episode?

I like them all. Watched series multiple times.

I think 'Vicars son'. The scene where camera follows Kerry from finishing pud at Florence's back to hers and getting her tea out the oven.

Also the ending was really tender. Kurtain yelling rhe vicar not to be harsh on himself for not recognising his sons full probs -and then offering to put kettle on and get some biscuits out.

Favourite pre-title opening scene?

This Country nails the random moments of village life mundanity in the little pre-title scenes, but what's your favourite?

My nomination is Kerry yelling "Bumworth!" to presumably a guy nicknamed Bumworth, then telling the camera crew to not film him because he's a fucking twat. I just love it.

"He's a fucking bell end."

Kurtans Bitcoins

Post image
83 Upvotes

In This Country, Series 3 Episode 1, Kurtan says he had to use the £500 his Nan lent him to invest in Bitcoin, but instead he lent that money to Kerry to bail her out. The episode originally aired on 17 February 2020.

On 17 February 2020, Bitcoin was roughly £7,462 per BTC.

So if Kurtan had actually invested the whole £500:
£500 ÷ £7,462 ≈ 0.0670 BTC
Bitcoin today (2 October 2026) is around £65,126
0.0670 BTC × £65,126 ≈ £4,364

So Kurtan’s £500 would be worth roughly £4,360 today.

That’s an increase of about £3,860, or roughly 8.7× his original money.

And that’s assuming he bought it around the episode’s air date and held it all the way through.
Which makes the storyline even funnier: Kerry’s alpaca and pillow business effectively cost Kurtan a potential £4,000+ Bitcoin investment. 😭

What would Nanna think!
