Doja has consistently shown over literal years that she enjoys trolling on social media and people still fall for it somehow

That label clearly cares more about money than the people who support it.

She plays video games. That tracks 😂

She's probably bad at them like this trolling

Isn't she also still under contract with Dr Luke? If so, she might not have much of a financial incentive to care

If the songs are good, people that heard the leak will also listen to it on stream
17
u/IllogicalResponse 19h ago
She may be right, ok some could listen to it from the leak, but even those who do are goiing to listen to it on apple/spotify anyway.

Why would you care about streams when 99% of your revenue is from concerts and streams pay fuck all?
8
u/Xidium426 13h ago
Streaming doesn't pay fuck all, the record labels pay the artists fuck all from streaming.
Spotify paid out $11B in 2025, the record companies just kept most of it.

In 2001 the labels made 12.1 billion dollars, so over the past 25 years they are more musicians with less pay.

sometimes people leak the unreleased songs - that's awesome, prayer by Kendrick and Stargazing by Hailee Steinfeld are genuinely amazing, I'm happy people leaked them
how TF do you keep these under wraps?

Also your hardcore fans listen to the leaks a bunch and when your new album comes out and they've already played the demo versions to death they're less blown away by the final product.
I think the biggest example of this I've experienced was Kanye's Jesus Is King. I was bumping those Yandhi demos a lot and the final product went in a way different direction than anybody expected and there was this collective feeling among the fans of "I don't dislike this but ooo what it could've been"
That said there's also examples throughout history where an artist's album will leak and the artist responds by just totally shelving it forever even though there were perfectly good songs in there. A$AP Rocky's Smile album. Several Brockhampton albums.
Or an artist will use leaks as an opportunity to heavily retool everything. A famous example is when a bunch of tracks from Eminem's Encore leaked, Em cut those tracks off the album and replaced them with different ones. That album kinda got shat on compared to the "trilogy" and a sentiment I see pretty regularly online is that if Em just ignored the leaks and didn't swap the songs it probably would've turned out to be a solid project.
Also Doja is probably ragebaiting but maybe she has a shit record deal and what she's saying comes from a very real place of "why should I care about my record sales if most of my money comes from selling Tshirts"

It's always refreshing to see the stupid in people where you already expected it

You def don't know doja. She's basically an Internet incel troll in a woman's body.

u/IllHaveTheLeftovers 18h ago
Literally the concept of an incel is they can’t get in a women’s body

Cisgender male incel, yes. Not universally true to incels, though cisgender male incels get all the attention.

I tried to make a song I recorded earlier today sound as obscene as possible and I laughed because it sounded like the male version of what I remember one of her songs being like. I’m curious what people would think but I’m not having anyone here the shit I said in that song (it’s just normal sex and thirst stuff but I’m a prude - it’s just gross to me which was why I chose to sing those lyrics since o was testing emotion versus tone of notes)

Shes not too bright is she

u/spikejonze14 19h ago
She’s rich as fuck I doubt she cares about money from streams. Labels and distributors take 90% anyway.

u/Educational-Year4108 19h ago
Artist get some cents for the stream. Their paycheck comes from merch and concerts
1
u/AgentCirceLuna 18h ago
I just realised there’s a potential chance that someone working on an album for a star, even someone like a tech, could be making more money for their work on the album than the star themselves
1
u/christaface 19h ago
Yeah but why is she asking who cares? Like the post says. It’s not a big deal for her maybe but it’s a big deal for someone
5
u/MMutant- 18h ago
It shouldn’t be a big deal to anyone as they’re not making any real money off it.
3
u/More-Gas-6527 18h ago
Its only a big deal for those in power of the industry in one way or another. Like someone else said most of the money comes from concerts and merch, letting your music be heard for free is actually more beneficial to the artist its just not good for streaming services
