Also must not use thc. Raging alcoholics are ok.

75

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 1d ago

A few duis? No problem. DUIs are actually encouraged! No but for real, every job I’ve had, people would get scrutinized for every and any crime they had in their record. Except DUIs. Most of the management had multiple DUIs lol. Half of them couldn’t even use any of the company vehicles because of it. But that was like not even a flinch. Petty theft though? No way you villain. Weed? Scum of the earth.

25

u/anythingspossible45 1d ago

Yep, but I feel a drug test for THC, which was sold as Gummies and beverage in the gas station in the state and I’m fired by the state. But they let the DUI bus driver continue to drive and he actually had an accident while intoxicated luckily no kids were on the bus

7

u/AlbatrossRich8724 23h ago

Well duh! Who’s gonna run the company if we don’t have a raging alcoholic? Come on, be serious!

2

u/dangernoodlezzz 23h ago

If you have a DUi they know you need the money

1

u/Clean-Perception-416 1h ago

This sounds like corruption, as in everyone is in on something. If your leadership is compromised of alcoholics, which is a relatively normalized substance, then they are more likely to overlook a history of it because they are part of that group. Its like hiring based on charisma rather than actual skills, you kind of get along with this person so you may as well give this stranger a shot over the grumpy looking one. Also why appearance matters, says more about your character. Your crime may be petty, but they have no frame of reference to seeing it day to day.

Gotta be Midwest

6

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 22h ago

Nope. Try west west. While it’s not as bad as some midwestern or southern states, people around here aren’t immune to being absolute morons.

-3

u/WinterFamiliar9199 12h ago

Guess we found the pothead collective in this sub.

111

u/Iggy_Slayer 1d ago

Maybe the corporations should raise their wages then.

53

u/UnimpressedUmpire 1d ago

The competitive pay was between the companies. To see how low they could get it together against employees

16

u/ApplicationCalm649 23h ago

They wouldn't have a choice if people would organize and bargain collectively. People get paid as little as they can get away with because they don't unionize.

14

u/_Kramerica_ 21h ago

Do you not see the daily posts about union busters and how corporations will throw millions at stopping unions instead of paying people more? It happens so regularly it’s not even news anymore… and that’s not even taking into account that too many people live check to check and can’t hold out for weeks or months to form unions.

2

u/ApplicationCalm649 16h ago

I do. That's exactly why we need more people *trying* to unionize. It shows there's political will behind the movement and will force change to the system that prevents union busting. Without that we're just going to get more of the same: the economic floor dropping for the poorest among us as the cost of living continues to rise.

If ever there was a moment when union busting practices could be addressed it's now, with a GOP that is actively trying to appeal to blue collar workers and a Democratic party that's desperate to get blue collar workers back under their wing. The Fast Labor Contracts Act demonstrates that: it's a bipartisan solution to one of the main ways in which big companies bust unionization efforts.

3

u/Pedantic_Pict 17h ago

United we bargain, divided we beg.

16

u/Strainedgoals 16h ago

On top of the fact, you e got to show up 30-40 hours.

If you really look at it that way, you're making $70 for 30-40hours work. THAT is certainly a bad deal compared to $330 and plenty of free time.

6

u/frylock350 14h ago

Don't forget 3 hours of commute time

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_NICE_EYES 10h ago

I mean, the job on the left is only paying $10/hour.

If you got a three hour commute to a job that pays $10/hour, then why aren't you looking for a job closer to home? It's not like it's a pay cut, it's only $10/hour.

83

u/DrSeuss321 1d ago

And then you get stupid fucks who think the problem is unemployment assistance and not the corporations who need to be held to account for robbing the working class.

10

u/dangernoodlezzz 23h ago

While they’re all getting some kind of bail out or subsidy

0

u/ThatIsNotAnAsian 10h ago

I mean unemployment assistance shouldn’t be reduced, but there should be more limitations on it.

Its purpose should be to help people until they are able to rejoin the workforce so that they can support themselves. Instead it’s gotten a reputation that it’s for people who don’t want to work.

In a perfect world there would be more checks and balances to make sure those people are actively looking for and putting effort into getting a job or gaining the skills to be able to get a job.

2

u/canmouth 3h ago

It only lasts for 26 weeks then you get nothing.

-17

u/CringeChameleon 21h ago

The problem is unemployment assistance. Get off your ass.

1

u/heybudbud 5h ago

You obviously don't understand the point the meme is trying to make.

1

u/Big_Specialist9622 12h ago

Please don’t vote

60

u/Particular_Counter50 19h ago

The problem with this stupid picture is that stupid people interpret the solution as reducing unemployment assistance rather than increasing wages.

9

u/Most-Club-254 16h ago

Goes back to stupid people are always the problem

6

u/Inside_Marketing268 16h ago

When there are too many "stupid people ", there always happen some sort of revolution, and some sort of Antoinette gets rid of her head. Later, somehow, "stupid people" become clever and he problem is solved.

20

u/silverum 14h ago

There's literally comments to that effect in this very thread already. This shows you why some Americans will never vote for things to be better, because they're not actually mad about all the ridiculous conditions on the right, they just want Those People to stop having it so damned easy and to suffer more!

5

u/Terin2 11h ago

You see though if they raise wages the CEO won't be able to buy his 4th house. Won't someone please think of the corporate stock holders.

2

u/canmouth 3h ago

Well unemployment lasts for 26 weeks. After that you’re fucked. So they already get their wish after 6 months anyway.

1

u/Desp3rados 10h ago

so it's not reducing stupid people? nice was a bit worried

Because then you don't have to ask your mom to buy everything for you

17

u/cyborgcyborgcyborg 1d ago

The difference is $300/month. Mommy is going to buy me beans and rice if I am good regardless. Because, that is not a sustainable income!

-22

u/RequirementCivil4328 1d ago

So your argument is that its acceptable to defraud the actual taxpayers of 300$ a month because that's not enough to cover food anyway and you shouldn't have to make so little you don't pay taxes?

8

u/trichomesRpleasant 23h ago

You're tax dollars are going to Israel and Anthropic, bub.

→ More replies (8)

6

u/cyborgcyborgcyborg 23h ago

Wouldn’t even be a conversation if this situation dealt with the wealthy that do not pay taxes and you know it.

Not to mention that both options will keep an individual in poverty but one has higher stipulations.
Risk VS Reward; you were taught it. It’s not a difficult concept to grasp.
Why waste my week for a mere $1.70/hr (assuming only working a standard shift) more considering jobs that a pay this low don’t typically have upward momentum.

-11

u/RequirementCivil4328 23h ago

You're a fraud for one

For another two wrongs don't make a right but not everyone had parents so we can move on from that

For another the 1% pay 40% of the total taxes. But since they're used about as effectively as unemployment fraud is used to carry a capable worker to another job, we can safely assume that paying even more would do literally nothing to help

3

u/AlbatrossRich8724 23h ago

All you have done is call people frauds for refusing to waste their life doing something laborious for crumbs.

I’m not sure what you’re insinuating bringing up people’s parents but it seems to be something about responsibility or some personal honor code, neither of which is anything you can apply to anyone but yourself.

You’re roughly correct about that last point regarding taxes, now let’s expand on that. The top 1% pay ~40% of the taxes, but they also poses 99% of wealth. Do you see the issue there?

Thats without even pointing that 99% of wealth should not be in the hands of a few people.

-2

u/RequirementCivil4328 23h ago

People who argue that working hard carries no virtue or value explaining that people who do work hard are leeches on the system

I understand the ceos more every day. I wouldn't pay you shit either

5

u/AlbatrossRich8724 23h ago

Mm. See that’s why you’re getting downvoted.

People are being forced to work hard and rewarded with nothing or at best enough to barely get by. There is no real chance for advancement and that’s the universal reality for many workers. You’re deluded or entitled if you believe otherwise.

0

u/RequirementCivil4328 21h ago

Being a self defeatist is not a virtue. But many people have suddenly become convinced that giving up, doing the bare minimum, doing nothing to even try to advance themselves, and leeching off of their parents and their unemployment is somehow virtuous, almost heroic rebellion against the system

You're brainwashed. You're replaceable. And you have the audacity to complain that those who run the show might not want to rely on you. As if you were reliable. As if you had skills. As if you even tried to have skills.

Somehow they have brainwashed Americans into thinking being a loser is how you win at life. It's fucking infuriating

You frame your opposition as a ‘fraud’ how strange. What part of the illustration do you see people being 100% employable by the alternative? 750 credit score basically eliminates 70% of the ahem workforce.

“But not everyone had parents…”
This sounds suspicious, are your parents culpable of fraud? Other felonies?

“…we can assume paying more …would not help” I AM NOT SURPRISED YOU WOULD MAKE THAT ASSUMPTION YOU SILVER SPOON MF!

2

u/RequirementCivil4328 21h ago

Im not privileged enough to be qualified for work that would require a credit score sadly. Nor did I spend my youth working hard enough to gain that privilege. I have been effectively rich, but not enough to be an employer. I've also lived on 30$ a week. Happily.

I get that you're offended at the notion that you should, idk what exactly, contribute to society? In any way? But now you're just swinging wildly and it's gotten boring.

How does you being a lazy fraud make me stupid

3

u/AlbatrossRich8724 23h ago edited 23h ago

Because it’s commentary about the employer.

Also, way to assume big guy! You have no idea what my situation is.

If the job available is only $400 a week with all that extra crap, it’s not worth it. Companies need to provide a living wage to have motivated workers. $400 a week is not living wage. Effectively, you’re gaining less to benefit someone that makes your weekly salary in a few hours or, in some cases, literally less than a second.

-1

u/Any_Onion_7275 21h ago

show us a job that requires that for that pay.

If you're successfully gaming unemployment you worked long enough to get the payments, they're not remotely enough to meet living standards, and you are defrauding the system that's intended to help people get on their feet while complaining that you aren't willing to work

Making you a literal leech on the system and proof that the Republicans were right all along.

You're lazy and entitled and your mom is actually buying everything for you through the taxes she paid that you don't think you should have to. But not because people might defraud the system (like the boomers claim) but because you literally don't believe you should have to put the effort in to save, or work hard, or gain skills

You are a leech

6

u/AlbatrossRich8724 23h ago

Or, you know…. Companies could pay a reasonable wage.

0

u/RequirementCivil4328 23h ago

Or, you know, you could not be a fraud and a drain on the system that proves that paying a reasonable wage will not be enough to guarantee you work literally at all

2

u/AlbatrossRich8724 23h ago edited 22h ago

If you’re going to attempt an argument, at least make it sensible and clear.

Also, they are not paying a reasonable wage.

4

u/ChadWestPaints 1d ago

Hey, being a leech on the system is just the capitalist way. Can't blame us for emulating the oligarchs in our own small way. At least we're leeching for rent money, not megayachts and private islands.

10

u/Dry-Suit4631 1d ago

This is so true; I'm in this exact situation at the moment.

9

u/neilintheground 10h ago

Better comparisons would be apprenticeship vs fast food. A lot of fucked up contractor look at labor as cheap as fuck because you're "learning" I went through 3 bosses before I got taught anything related to a trade. It was brutal. Mules get treated better on some jobs. Especially without a union.

8

u/BigMack6911 18h ago

I remember during COVID, my wife got sent home and got a check. I was working still cause it was one of them "necessary services" but I couldn't sale on top of my work because we couldn't knock on doors. So my wage went down, I tried to make as much as possible from sales. My wife was getting as much a week as I was on that COVID unemployment lol. Her family was like find a job and get off unemployment. I said why should you? There's hardly any jobs you can get 1500 every other week sittin at home. She seriously made more then me at the time lol.

5

u/sofia-long25 1d ago

Must have a bachelor's degree in accepting less than you deserve.

9

u/CaptainOwlBeard 1d ago

How could someone survive on either? Neither would even cover rent unless you're renting a room with several other people.

8

u/PrimalZodiac 1d ago

Damn 400/week is about what i get

3

u/CaptainOwlBeard 1d ago

How do you have a home? Do you live with family or in your car? Where i live the cheapest efficiency in the shittiest neighborhood is about $1500.

6

u/PrimalZodiac 1d ago

Saint-like parent putting up with me at the ripe age of 26

Charging me 800/month for rent and i get a private room and bathroom, consistent meals, utilities and many other things

I don't have any room to go up, but at least theres something beneath my feet

6

u/CaptainOwlBeard 1d ago

So half your income is rent at your parents house. Crazy.

8

u/PrimalZodiac 23h ago

We can't not, its more of a mortgage contribution to the family home and less rent, we just call it rent to save time

0

u/CaptainOwlBeard 23h ago

Man, that's rough. Hopefully they almost have it paid off, if not, one accident and y'all are all homeless

1

u/PrimalZodiac 23h ago

Nope we've only had it for like 5 years and yeah we're pretty terrified of the currently crumbling us economy

1

u/CaptainOwlBeard 23h ago

Honestly you might want to consider downsizing. It sounds like you have more house than you can reasonably afford. If you're 26, you parents are like maybe 15-20 years away from needing to semi retire depending on their income and health and that doesn't sound like enough years to get it paid off. Not sure this is the market, but if they need your contribution to make ends meet, v this isn't sustainable long term. Not my business, but it's probably a reality you should start considering before life makes the choice for you.

2

u/PrimalZodiac 23h ago

Theres 6 people in the house, plus cats, and the place isn't really massive, my brother doesn't even have a room

→ More replies

2

u/Tripl3Dee 21h ago

Bought 5 years ago = Covid rates, so getting the same place at today's rates would cost them maybe 40% more. Downsizing doesn't help in that case.

2

u/FNKTN 27m ago

This is the typical now. The American dream is dead.

1

u/RhemansDemons 1d ago

Depends on where you live. I was renting a 2 bed for $1100 before I bought my house.

1

u/CaptainOwlBeard 1d ago

I guess, but i don't live in an extreme hcol area like LA or something, just a regular city

2

u/TootsHib 22h ago

isn't that less than minimum wage?

1

u/PrimalZodiac 13h ago

I'm salaried, making after counting, closer to like $450 a week

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_NICE_EYES 9h ago

Under federal law you have to be making at least $684 to be salaried tho.

1

u/PrimalZodiac 9h ago

Tell that to explore academy

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_NICE_EYES 8h ago

I mean, it probably would be more productive if you told the state labor board.

Like, if you're making minimum wage then your employer is breaking the law. Full stop.

1

u/PrimalZodiac 7h ago

i should say its about 450/check AFTER taxes and insurance.

1

u/CoachKreeton 13h ago

What do you do? $400 per week is exceptionally low. Not trying to be rude.

1

u/PrimalZodiac 13h ago

I'm an EA at a charter school

2

u/FNKTN 3h ago

That's the point. They don't want you to strive. Your only allowed to scrape by and use government assistance even if you are employed just so they crank up the "high employment " numbers for a politician to look good.

Striving means you are a citizen and not a consumer stuck pushing a bolder uphill for eternity.

1

u/Skylinegtr88 23h ago

You could survive on government assistance. Since many get housing, food stamps and healthcare. There was a study afew year back. That the salary a person should get to live like the government was paying, 16 dollars starting salary. Back then most places had 9 to 10 dollars starting salary.

2

u/H0SS_AGAINST 13h ago

In my state the single largest available government assistance program is unemployment which is limited to 26 weeks. To get that maximum benefit you had to be making decent money before losing your job and you can't get fired for cause.

Food stamps for a single person household is like $300

Medicaid income cutoff is $22K/yr

Housing varies by zip code but could be as high as $1200/mo which is exceedingly rare. Under $1000 in most areas.

The thing is that these programs have qualifiers. One can not simply leach off the system as Republicans espouse. However because some of the programs are not progressive it does result in situations where someone making just above minimum wage is not incentivised to pick up more hours or take a small raise as it would disqualify them for some benefits which are greater than the income from the hours work or raise given.

That's a problem with the system design, not the assistance per se.

I am not including federal social security disability here as that is a separate conversation. Disability fraud is a problem, also related to pay rates and incentives.

The fact of the matter is that if we didn't have the severe wealth and income inequality we would have more incentive for lower income people to work.

0

u/KathyJaneway 1d ago

The assistance isn't meant for you to be Indefinitely on, it's to motivate you to find a better paying job in certain amount of time.

3

u/CaptainOwlBeard 1d ago

And the job for 400 a week? Hope they don't mind their employees living on the street, cause if they like eating s and having a car that's all they'll be able to afford

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_NICE_EYES 9h ago

Yeah, jobs for $400 a week and require a bacholer's degree aren't really going to be a thing anymore. Even McDonald's in LCOL areas is starting at $500/week nowadays.

1

u/KathyJaneway 22h ago

If you can't find job with your qualifications, you need to learn new skills and work something else. Not everyone who has went through certain education works in that area he studied for .

2

u/CaptainOwlBeard 22h ago

Did you have a stroke halfway through that comment? I have no idea what you're trying to say.

5

u/saltedgrass 16h ago

She said its easier to blame the poor for being genetically inferior, then to do anything to help them

1

u/KathyJaneway 22h ago

There's more jobs , not just for 400 a week, and if you want higher paying job, need to learn skills needed for it . Comprende?

0

u/Suspicious_Pick5723 14h ago

Quite a few people aren’t realistically able to do that for many reasons, which you obviously understand as well. So what kind of motivation is there for people to commute and work hours at shit jobs for barely any more than what welfare pays?

1

u/KathyJaneway 12h ago

So what kind of motivation is there for people to commute and work hours at shit jobs for barely any more than what welfare pays?

The motivation is that it should be 3-4 month period of welfare during which you would learn some new skill ...

1

u/Suspicious_Pick5723 11h ago

Not everyone can learn a new coveted skill in a few months, if ever

8

u/EncabulatorTurbo 10h ago

you know you dont just get unemployment assistance right

you cant quit your job and get it, you cant refuse a job and keep getting it

3

u/introspecc 9h ago

Exactly. Disability assistance is the only one that doesn't constantly push you towards employment.

As someone on it, it might look peachy to be on it, but surviving on <=$17k a year is impossible without a roommate, and you will have to decide between food and all other necessities, even without owning a car.

Education is the best way forward. If a field pays well enough, you can work very part-time or just remote and get a liveable wage or more.

3

u/Wide_Guitar_3558 1d ago

must be able to work all departments without any help, get paid wages for the entry level department only. And sorry no raise this year

9

u/vlozko 1d ago

This is dumb. Ignoring real-world numbers, to make that kind of unemployment money in the first place you must have been able to get the job on the right and then fired or laid off. You can’t just freely go collect a paycheck for doing nothing or never having a job.

6

u/Cold_R4GE 1d ago edited 1d ago

This is how it is in the Nordics. Finland has #1 unemployment rate. Couldn't believe it.

My friend was fired from a restaurant. He hated it. Started collecting government assistance. He said it was only 200 euro( ~$240) less a month than what he said working. Not worth it to work 40+ hours a week to not make much more. Now he's been unemployed for like 3 years and said he's not going back to working.

I am American, and decided to move back to Us. The economy is currently quite poor their. Furthermore, these types of socialist countries tend to incentivize unemployment over gainful employment.

People in the USA tend to have a romanticized view of the Nordic countries, but it is not all positive there.

8

u/pnut0027 1d ago edited 23h ago

That’s not a problem with government assistance allowing for you to still be able to pay your bills.

That’s an issue with companies paying just above government assistance.

2

u/Cold_R4GE 1d ago

True but... I also think it's not very that simple.

In Finland, companies are heavily taxed. Also, because employees have so much protection, it's very hard to fire someone. If you have one bad hire, it can make your company go bankrupt. They have a year long maternity leave (paid by the company). Because of the government's actions, companies have effectively become less likely to hire women.

Imagine you have a mom-and-pop shop selling pizza and you hire a girl. Next thing, she gets pregnant and you need to pay her for a year without her even working. So, why would you, as a business owner, take that risk?

This is the reason I do not believe the situation is that straightforward. Even when they are well intentioned, the minor adjustments made by the government often negatively impact the market.

3

u/pnut0027 1d ago edited 1d ago

I feel like the same folks who’d complain about having to pay maternity leave are the same folks who’d complain about women not having kids and abortion rights.

As far as Sweden goes, you get 480 days per child. However, that is split up between both parents. So you run nearly the same risk when hiring a man as when you hire a woman. Dad can take up to 480 days off if the mother does not. Let’s assume mom was a SAHM, Dad gets all 480 days. It appears the government thought of the impact it would have on women’s employment and came up with a way to spread the risk equally to men.

1

u/Cold_R4GE 1d ago

That seems like a much better approach from Sweden. I've been to Sweden many times since it's just a small boat ride from Helsinki.

1

u/Secure_Foundation720 15h ago

It's no longer maternity leave it's parent leave and both parents get the same amount of parent leave. Also you can give most of your parent leave to the other parent. Only thing that moms have more is that they can start the parent leave before the child is born.

7

u/Distinct_Prior_2549 17h ago

So why is it the fault of unemployment assistance again if the salary is so shitty it's barely above unemployment assistance?

3

u/vlozko 1d ago

Ah, fair enough. Reddit being mostly US-centric limits my view. I’ve heard many of the same things about Germany, too, where it’s easier to live off assistance. At least in the US, there’s a hard limit to how long one can collect.

3

u/MrCockingFinally 16h ago

Doesn't sound like unemployment is incentivised. Sounds more like employers do everything in their power to make working as back breaking and soul crushing as possible while paying barely any money over survival wages.

2

u/Cold_R4GE 15h ago

It's a systemic issue. In that country (Finland). There I made 40k yearly then taxes is very harsh. Nearly half of it would go to taxes. So I would net like $ 25k yearly. Sure I get free healthcare and stuff but would not have much for living expenses. You kind of need to live a modest life. If I were on unemployment I would get nearly the same.

Here in the US I'm making ~$160k yearly, plus my wife salary. Together we are making over $250k. We have to pay health insurance and all the other stuff. But we have a lot more buying power. Here in the US it doesn't not make sense to live off unemployment.

1

u/Secure_Foundation720 15h ago

In Finland you will make more than enough to survive working minimal wage.

What makes people struggle here is that alcohol and nicotine products are very expensive because they're taxed a lot to incetivise using less and people spend all that money in them and are left struggling.

edit. Also every job here gives 30 days of paid vacations for every year and if you have an hourly wage you will get paid more for overtime.

-2

u/Available_Rub9939 1d ago

I'm from Arizona. Served in the Army. Millennial. Can't get much more American Making a question like that is kinda silly when I could just Google/ai

-1

u/Available_Rub9939 1d ago

So which was it comrade?

4

u/Cold_R4GE 1d ago

Hell if I know. Without looking it up. I'm a software dev. History is not my strong suit.

1

u/14u2c 21h ago

West Carolina

Without looking it up

hmm

2

u/Cold_R4GE 21h ago

Lol didn't catch that.

2

u/culturedgoat 17h ago

An American would have caught that

3

u/DragonBank 13h ago

No, I wouldn't. I would just assume it was a minor battle in the western part of the Carolinas.

0

u/Available_Rub9939 15h ago

I’m getting warm water port vibes from cold rage here.

3

u/Annies_58008 1d ago

However, at that rate, why not work for two months and claim for 3 weeks? Hell, if the store owner was smart he'd hire tons of people like this, rotate them around and use unemployment to subsidize their payroll. Wait...did I just describe walmart???

3

u/vlozko 1d ago

Because companies pay into unemployment insurance. Their premiums would skyrocket in this case so it would be cost-prohibitive.

2

u/Fantastic-Hamster-21 22h ago

Genuinely asking, is this accurate for the unemployment amount? What could that possibly pay for in a month?

2

u/Khalith 22h ago

I make about $400 a week on my unemployment after getting laid off due to corporate downsizing. I also live in a rent controlled apartment with two roommates so it’s manageable while I’m job hunting.

1

u/Fantastic-Hamster-21 15h ago

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the search.

3

u/jordan3257 23h ago

No felony convictions!? Do you know how hard it is to not be convicted of a felony?? You have to like not break any strict, sensible laws.. it's really tough

-1

u/WinterFamiliar9199 12h ago

Ikr?! How dare they want to hire someone who isn’t a criminal?

1

u/flyingupvotes 1h ago

Criminals are in prison. Someone who has repaid through time served is a free person.

Neither is acceptable. Below 105k isn't a real job and they don't value you at all.

4

u/Dovydas_AL 20h ago

105k? What

5

u/50_DkpMinus 17h ago

You realize that means over half the workforce of the US is considered a fake job to you right?

2

u/Forward-Escape7076 16h ago

I mean, he’s not wrong, they’ve managed to turn a lot of the dangerous legitimate roles in $30/35K year jobs.

A lineman apprentice starts at $16/hr here in Florida, $1 above minimum wage. It’ll take 4 years before he gets to $21.. and then almost 10-15 to get to the $26-28 as a journeyman.

That most states; that’s what the apprentice starts out at.

So yeah. I’ll be honest. If I’m risking my life, for $1 above minimum wage, to make sure everyone else’s lives are made easier on what we do?

1

u/WithoutAHat1 14h ago

105k is to match the tax rate. Otherwise, it could be lower. But yeah, why risk life and limb for so little? It isn't our responsibility to save any business. We owe them nothing. They owe it to us. Because without employees they have no business.

1

u/50_DkpMinus 13h ago

Fair, or we lower the amount we pay for taxes since it’s all going to criminals and wars no one wants😶

1

u/WithoutAHat1 12h ago

Yeah, we need to raise the tax rate on the Rich and lower it on the Poor. Then it wouldn't have to be so high.

3

u/TheYeetBoii 23h ago

This must be the USA right ?

1

u/Conspiratorymadness 22h ago

Yes, though rather over exaggerated.

-1

u/Any_Onion_7275 22h ago

you believe everything you see/read? 🦥

-1

u/TheYeetBoii 21h ago

Nah just a USA citizen myself

2

u/modsaretoddlers 23h ago

Whenever I see "competitive salary" on the job seeking apps, I just keep on going. It's code for: "we'd pay you less but it's against the law."

1

u/smoothie_criminals 1d ago

This is when they can then justify the American workforce fails and they have to outsource the jobs. This is 100% BS.

1

u/rm-rf-asterisk 23h ago

I remember when covid it was like double or something. It made no sense to work

Honestly, raise the unemployment assistance to force companies offering garbage go out of business. They deserve it

1

u/Linscotticus 13h ago

Unemployment is a way to offset criminality. Macro economics laughs at your attempts.

1

u/BladeVampire1 12h ago

The right is $10/hr

1

u/icwhatudidthr 7h ago

Also, just the monthly commute to work costs you half of that salary.

1

u/Spiritual_Mess_4589 7h ago

Looks like soon there won’t be unemployment if people don’t work to pay taxes for it.

1

u/honeysblossom 3h ago

Employer just need to be more down to earth and increase the paychecks it's not rocket science

1

u/FNKTN 3h ago

No enjoying chemicals we deem unfit on your time off!

1

u/scottiedagolfmachine 22h ago

Yea I’d rather be unemployed collecting checks

1

u/Kudostone 1d ago

Looks like the assistance pay is too high /s

1

u/barcham22 1d ago

In my state you have to have worked for 3 consecutive quarters of a year with an employer. The payout is determined by how much you made. $400 a week would probably get you half of that in unemployment and only last a few months.

I imagine it’s similar in many other states. Definitely not the free ride these posts try to make it out to be.

0

u/Last__Dawn 1d ago

You're talking about unemployment, not benefits like Medicare, food stamps, section 8, etc.

4

u/barcham22 23h ago

The sign says unemployment assistance.. of course I’m referring to unemployment.

1

u/Last__Dawn 23h ago

Of course they are using 2 words, anyways here I am doubling down on the 1 word.

Clown world every time. The concept is what matters, not some words... the issue at hand is incentives to work when basic needs are met vs being truly left without any sort of support from the government.

1

u/Dovydas_AL 20h ago

It says unemployment assistance...

0

u/Biscuits4u2 23h ago

This isn't even close to accurate.

1

u/SnoopySuited 23h ago

Very true, no one minds a felon these days.

0

u/Biscuits4u2 23h ago

Only if the job is POTUS. Also the amount is way off. You would get way less than that.

-3

u/Casshern_VIII 1d ago

Sorry but can you tell me what entry level job requires 12 years experience and a bachelors degree and a credit score? And how is no felony convictions an impossible or unfair standard? Or is this a post by some far left agitator that has felonies for assaulting people, damage to public property and theft complaining they're criminal history is preventing them from working a job at Walmart?

8

u/Remarkable_Ship_4673 1d ago

It's a joke

But there are definitely entry level jobs that require a degree and like 6+ years experience

-2

u/Casshern_VIII 1d ago

Maybe some highly specialized field I could see that, but any entree job that needs experience sounds like an oxymoron

4

u/Remarkable_Ship_4673 1d ago

And now you understand

I graduated a decade ago and the amount of "entry lvl" jobs that required shit like that was honestly hilarious

3

u/LeanTangerine001 19h ago

The position needs 5 years experience in something that was created only 2 years ago!

6

u/Rugged-Turd 1d ago

There's a growing number of people like you who don't understand hyperbole, and it's seriously concerning. Soon any nuance or sarcasm will be lost. Crazy.

1

u/Chimic27 16h ago

Are you on the spectrum?

-4

u/Own_Mycologist_4900 20h ago

Unemployment should be limited to a year or 18 months and then there is a 6 month waiting period before you are eligible to receive benefits again

6

u/FlallyWorldwide 20h ago

Why? So the corporate overlords can squeeze people even harder?
Hope you find yourself in the same Situation…

2

u/Dovydas_AL 20h ago

It is almost always 26 weeks in the US

2

u/Underhive_Art 15h ago

Just 0.001% of people hold three times the wealth of poorest half of humanity, report from 2025 Data from World Inequality Report also showed top 10% of income-earners earn more than the other 90%. But yeah it’s us making sure people don’t go homeless and starve that’s the issue.

1

u/HighMagistrateGreef 19h ago

Presumably you meant to say 'if people turn down valid work', or else this makes no sense

1

u/WinterFamiliar9199 12h ago

In TN it’s capped at 12 to 24 weeks and maxes at $325 a week.

-1

u/elvee68 1d ago

Yes because handouts are an easy way out and better than self improvement.

-3

u/PeculiarTerpQueef 23h ago

Bogus argument, find me a single job posting with these requirements paying $10/hr. But it tugs on the heart strings of the anti-capitalists.

3

u/Any_Onion_7275 22h ago

yea there is a reason its a cartoon meme.. probably also a European made one at that

-2

u/KGrahnn 16h ago

Social benefits should be time limited. The 400$/week job begins to look a lot more interesting when you dont get free money anywhere.

2

u/Neat-Bunch-7433 12h ago

Soo...the solution is reducing unemployment assistance instead of increasing wages...

0

u/KGrahnn 10h ago

Would you rather starve or would you go to work with 400$/week salary and be happy as you at least have a job and you can feed yourself?

-1

u/truthhurtsyomama 1d ago

We need UBI now!!
