This morning i went to import a track from another session, and it repeatedly imported a previous version of the session/track. I had changed the VO in that session and saved it, but the track that was imported was the old audio. not only that, but in the import session data window, it shows the PTX file as last modified on the 18th (wrong), while the finder clearly says the 21st (correct). Doing a save session as to make a new ptx file resulted in the same issue, despite the modified date/time being correct.

if i open the session im trying to import data from, the audio is correct and current. i ended up having to render the audio and bringing it in manually.

just a weird one. i thought I was going crazy. a computer restart did not help.

I am trying to relink some audio files from an AAF in my Pro Tools Studio session (2026.4.1). The AAF was made in DaVinci Resolve. The audio files from the AAF have different file names than the source audio. There is also no unique file name to match. I attempted to manually relink with little luck. I matched one candidate file, but it would only link one half of the stereo file and not the other. I am also dealing with 174 unlinked audio files, so that is not a realistic workflow for relinking. I also tried copying the source files into the audio files folder, saving, relaunching Pro Tools, and automatic relinking, but that didn't work. I copied the source files into the clip list but had no luck with restarting the session and trying to relink.

Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. If there is a solution on to fix this on DaVinci with those export settings for the AAF, that would be appreciated as well.

Hi everyone. At my wit's end a bit here. As the title suggests, when I create a New Project, the Timeline Selection is set to be in a four bar loop instead of starting the points at 0. I'm trying to teach students how to make new sessions and record, but it's annoying making them deselect the timeline each time

Things I've tried:

• Toggling Loop Playback and Loop Record, then saving the session before creating a new one

• Toggling Link Timeline and Edit Selection, then saving the session before creating a new one

• Setting Edit Selection End and Play Selection End to 1|1|000, then saving the session before creating a new one

• Diving into Preferences

• Checking Session Setup (cmd + num 2)

The only thing I haven't done is trash the Preferences because the app I have to do it is on a hard drive at home and this is a work computer.

I took a screenshot of what I'm trying to get rid of. Like I said, I just want it to not have a loop/selection when I make a new session.

I'm doing this on PT 2020.11.0 on a 1013 Mac Pro running MacOS Version 10.15.7

Card on file expired. Lanched PT and got the "expiration warning". Apparently they added a buffer, but I was away. I am unable to add any new cards. Every time I enter one, it gives me error. Is there any other way?

Does any one have experience with how smooth it works to use the pots on the Stream Deck + with Fabfilter Q4 in PT assisted by Sound Flow (paid)? Can I make the pots immediately app to freq, gain and Q when the Q4 window opens?

My computer just isn’t cut out for this software, I’ve been having major stability issues on Windows OS and just know it’s not gonna work long term. I’ve switched to Ableton and work is actually getting done now. I’m selling my perpetual license on reverb at this point to see if anyone wants to do the official avid transfer process.

Not a request for help but more of a discussion request. Has anyone had major issues with stability in Pro Tools Studio latest version / windows OS? It got to the point where I’d be deadlocked on projects, crashing every once in a while, and freezing a bunch. I guess technically speaking independent troubleshooting every other day was getting tiring.

Hiya, I have been having an issue with the video not loading into my session and citing a potential Codec issue and blames incapability with Mac Catalina (which my computer is not). The first time it happened I just updated my laptop (I was on Sonoma at the time and did a regular update). Now it has happened again about 2 weeks after the first instance. I upgraded to Sequoia bc there was no other upgrade option (and it kinda worked last time) but the problem is persisting. Does anyone have any tips for what else I can do to approach the problem? I don't think its a codec issue as the particular copy of the video has worked in the past??? Currently waiting for a different copy of the film im working on so thought I would ask on here while I wait.
I have Pro Tools Studio ver. 2026.4.1 and my mac is Sequoia 15.8.1

edit: forgot to mention that I also tried importing in other videos from other pro tools session in the past, they all had the same error message. mov, mp4 etc

also, here is error msg word for word: "Unable to link file "(my file name)" due to either a missing CODEC or the file may be unsupported. Pro Tools QuickTime support has changed as of macOS Catalina. Please click the more info button for the latest support information. Hello there! I'm new to Pro Tools and have just installed Pro Tools Intro version 2026.4.1 on my Windows 11 PC. I'll be mostly using it as a DAW for voiceover recording and editing purposes. From the looks of it, the software looks quite loaded, and I don't know how to start learning it. I'm not able to find enough resources to learn this software from the point of view of a voice over artist. Is anyone aware of any YT channels or other resources which can be of help to me? Thanks.

For those who currently work in-house at a recording studio, or have in the recent past: is it still the 'industry standard'? By that I mean, is it a requirement to know how to use Pro Tools if you're attempting to get a job at a commercial recording studio?

My assumption is 'yes'. But I'd love to hear any anecdotes from the community and anyone who has been in a position that requires knowledge of a specific software for employment.

I'm looking for someone (or actually two someones) who works in ProTools on daily basis mixing/mastering or could be also a music producer. I need preferably one MacOS and one Windows user. Basically I have something that needs to be tested in the next week or so. Not gonna name any names, to not fall into self-promotion categories. But basically a pretty extensive plugin (meaning it will probably take a bit of time to actually test it) that is about to be released, but couldn't have been tested in ProTools so far, because getting AAX signing license takes a lot of time. Everywhere else, in pretty much all main DAW's, it was thoroughly beta tested already and works as expected, in ProTools from my own testing it also runs without issues, but I'm not a ProTools engineer. So just to reiterate, I need someone that knows ProTools in and out and has the time and conditions to actually stress test it.

I'm really new in Pro tools!

A friend downloaded the tutorial version. Since she's very limited in number of tracks, she decided to edit a small radio podcast with multiple different voices in the same track instead of doing one track per voice! She would like to set an EQ for each type of voice and quickly assign it to each cut she does within the same track.

I know that with an auxiliary or an insert you can assign a plugin to a whole track, but is there a way to create a shortcut so that she just has to select a part of the signal, use the shortcut resulting in that same signal receiving the EQ pattern she already se,? So that she doesn't always have to select + go in Audiosuit+, select the EQ, and paste the EQ pattern she wants.

Theres professionals using both (mostly the print track workflow, but some like serban ghenea and john hanes use the classic master track into real time bounce), and they come with workflow advantages.

Ive mostly used print track as it seems to be the default industry standard for many people but i noticed that when you export your printed file in 24 bit for delivery, protools will automatically add dither to it and you cant turn it off, a problem which you wont have when using hardware as the ADDA converter you go back into the box with will already record the signal as 24 bit with no truncation issues.

This made me consider if i should switch to master track->real time bounce, as you have full control over dither or no dither etc. there, one of the reasons john hanes and serban ghenea reportedly use that

So my question is: what are the actual practical downsides of that compared to the print track workflow for somebody not using any adda conversion or hardware they have to print through?

note: not talking about offline bounce, never that

I’m on protools studio 2025.12.0 and importing mp3s takes like 5-6 minutes. It was never like this on the older versions. I understand conversion/copy etc etc just don’t understand and need a fix

Was wondering if any pro/semi-pro playback engineers are running PT with success. Been doing research on the standard pro level playback rigs for live production, redundant machines, the iconnectivity interface, etc. But it seems like everyone’s running Ableton or Ableset for playback.

I’ve never used Ableton but am very comfortable with ProTools. Is there like a function/workflow Ableton has with this kind of stuff that PT doesn’t? Is it a stability thing? Can’t see why it shouldn’t be just as functional.

Using Command 0 to quantize warp markers does correctly snap them to the grid, but the longer the file plays for the farther one of the tracks drift out of time with the other. this is especially noticeable when editing stereo pairs like left and right guitars and drum overheads. The problem goes away when I manually edit the markers, and the problem is visible in the audio file when committing.

Downloaded Studio today for an upcoming project. While starting to build out sessions, I noticed the click stops after 10 seconds. Even if I start at the 7 second mark, it will stop working at the 17 second mark. I've gone through all the click options in setup>click/count off. Any ideas? Stock click ii

When I import an AAF, and then separately import the video, the 2-pop and all my audio assets are slightly out of time from the audio in the video. It's the second session that is doing this, from completely different editors so it doesn't seem like it's on their end.

I can obviously just line them up, but curious if I'm doing something wrong.
