Nope. They're welfare queens. I worked in a rural gas station and served these farmers for years. They drive 100k Escalades and Ford 350s and also have EBT cards. Every single one of them. I know this because they try to hide it when they pay with food stamps. They flash the back of the card, and I'd hit the credit card button on my register instead of the EBT button. The card would decline. Then they would HAVE to show/tell me it was an EBT card and then they'd get surly with me for not reading their minds and forcing them to say aloud that they are paying with a "socialist handout program" (their own words).

Yep. Entitled, generationally wealthy, and dumb as hell. It's a terrible combination.

u/Relative_Mix_216 5h ago
Farmers are like, the worst business owners ever.
Democrats always help farmer expand their business and help move their products to the market.
Republicans just give them free money and slaves.
Now you know why they vote red every four years.

u/SnooEagles4121 4h ago
Oh I know. A friend of mine is a farmer, but he's nothing like those clowns. He's in his eighties. Says the entitled morons of today are nothing like the introspective and humble people he grew up around. He blames it on AM radio and old fashioned racism.
2
u/HyperactivePandah 2h ago
In his 80's you say?
Does he have any interest in being president?
2
u/SnooEagles4121 1h ago
Hell no, lol. Heās content to work his farm and paint landscapes in his free time. I love the guy. Truly a dying breed.

Spot on. My exās family has a huge farm in SW Nebraska. They loved bragging about how much money they extracted from USG. All bright red Repubs.

The farmers can't dictate their own prices. It's actually socialism that keeps them oppressed because they also can't control diesel prices or emissions standards that drive up the cost of equipment. The reason farmers keep fixing old tractors is because they can't afford new ones. You need to understand the majority of farmers are not corporate farmers they are little guys that can't afford to keep the farms going when the government tells them how or what to grow.
7
u/OYB2480 5h ago
Again, I live and worked in a rural area. These were mostly small soybean operations, and their fields literally surrounded my store. You can try and tell what MY experience was in MY small town all you like. You're still wrong and GFY. Furthermore the farmers DID vote for elevated diesel prices. GFY.

Another instance of using the word socialism, without actually knowing what it is.

9
u/Ill_Consequence1755 5h ago
No! They want that socialism now! They need it.
I personally think the government should issue some damn bootstraps.
9
6
u/SnooEagles4121 5h ago
They *literally* don't.
They believe that since they grow our food, that we owe them. They genuinely believe the government should eliminate all federal aid, while leaving an exception for themselves to get as much as they want whenever they want it.

All rural areas and Republicans are the biggest beneficiaries of welfare and social services. The hypocrisy is maddening

This is like those people who voted for him but are now distraught that their spouse/child has been arrested/killed/deported by ICE.
It's like "oh no, here are the predictable consequences of electing the guy I voted for in office!"
Meanwhile, I feel like a chump because I have enough empathy to feel bad for people whose faces were eaten by the leopards they were too ignorant to NOT vote for.

"These are the hardest times we've ever had thanks to Donald Trump": Illinois soybean farmer blasts Trump's trade war as the state demands $11 billion in tariff relief.
I'm not sorry but they should've known better after the first time that he doesnāt care about the farmers and never has.
Iowa farmer is paying $75,000 more every month for diesel: "I just wish they would get that deal settled over in the Middle East. We can't handle 2 or 3 more months. The trickle-down effect is tremendous."
ā.. We only have so much money to operate with,ā Kellogg said. āAnd then we need to have a reserve in case we won't have a harvest this year.ā
Told you guys.
This quote comes from a report on how family farmers are managing high operational costs and a difficult agricultural economy by relying on decades-old machinery instead of buying expensive new equipment.
Speaker: A soybean farmer named Kellogg from Kellogg Family Farms.
The Situation: High prices for fuel, fertilizer, and farm equipment (with new machinery costing between $600,000 and $1 million) are forcing farmers to tighten their budgets.
The Meaning: Farmers must carefully ration their operating cash and save money in reserve to protect their livelihoods against unpredictable poor harvests or declining farm incomes.
This is exactly why US farmers deserve their Trump bankruptcy
The below link is to a FB post proves Farmers are still blaming Dems for the high fuel prices and no matter what happens they are pro MAGA all the way to bankruptcy.
Farmers have gotten $40 BILLION in tax payer funded bailouts from Trump for 100% avoidable reasons... so far.
Trump 1.0:
2017 - Trump starts trade war (Section 232 (steel/aluminum) / Section 301 (Chinese IP/technology).
China halts purchase of soybeans (and other stuff).
2018 - Farmers lose over $25 BILLION in business in less than 18months.
Trump uses a 75 year old New Deal rule to bypass Congress and issue approx $28 BILLION in bailouts for farmers.
The vast majority of bailout went to large commercial and corporate farm operations, leaving individual/family farms
Only 5% of the bailout was split between the small, family-owned farms without financial cushions, cash reserves, etc whose personal and business assets are exposed to foreclosure.
2019 - Farm bankruptcies hit a 40year high.
2023 (in-between Trump terms) - Farm bankruptcies drop to a historic low.
Trump 2.0: The Sequel
2025 - Trump starts another trade war.
China, EU, and Latin American (major agricultural buyers) retaliate. Soybean, pork, and row-crop demand craters.
Trump uses the 75 year old New Deal rule to bypass Congress and issue approx $12 BILLION in bailouts for farmers... so far.
2025 - Farm bankruptcies increase 127% since hitting historic low two years prior.
2026 - Farm bankruptcies on pace to increase another 20% yoy.

That $8 billion diesel bribe/program is designed to benefit farms based on size of farm and crop type to the point that most of it will go to large corporate farms who farm corn and soy which we already have too much of. So small family farms? Still fucked. Lol.

My produce comes from local farms in the northeast and occasionally overseas, and I donāt buy meat and therefore not the feed their livestock eat. The Midwest supplies ethanol, meat, feed and crops for export. Fuck them, I hope they all go under.
2
u/ZeusThunder369 4h ago
These aren't people who are well versed in the economics of farming, deciding Trump is their best option. Their support isn't conditional on anything Trump does or says about farming. It has nothing to do with farming at all.

u/WilliamJamesMyers 26m ago
all i did was ask google search "how much are american farmers going to get?" and damn y'all it's $20b large!
"$8 billion relief package through the newly announced USDA Harvest Fuel Relief Program, designed to provide one-time direct payments to offset soaring diesel and production costs. This follows a separate $12 billion "Farmer Bridge Assistance" program distributed earlier in the year."
they get fuel relief... does the timber industry get fuel relief? school buses? does anyone else get a $20b check in any other business sector?
this is socialism. govt paid programs. ffs just admit it. and funny thing is these socialists lovie the GOP.

2

No shit. Now he throws them money right before elections after he fucked up all their trade deals. Diesel prices aren't helping and neither are fertilizer tariffs.

Zimbabwe, Soviet Union and China. All of these places had bright ideas to get rid of the farmers who knew how to grow crops. All of these places had food shortages and mass amounts of people dying because of it. Good thing we have Reddit geniuses to reproduce Idiocracy in farming.

u/Tacos_are_my_friend 2h ago
How is it that your big brain doesnāt understand that the state of California supplies most of the produce the US consumes. A lot of the farmers complaining ship their crops to other countries and are suffering due to the tariffs.
0
u/CheddarCheese_Sndwch 2h ago
How do you not understand that if you eliminated the people who know how to farm you have a major problem.
1
u/Tacos_are_my_friend 2h ago
The vast majority of California farmers donāt ship their produce out of the country, Iām in the Ag business.
Educated me big brainā¦
1
u/CheddarCheese_Sndwch 2h ago
I'm talking about eliminating the farmers. I'm not talking about who grows what. Those three countries eliminated their farmers and the result was famine.
2
u/Disastrous_Nerve4264 2h ago
Don't you see, Trump and his policies is eliminating the farmers. Trump's policies is why they are all crying poor and needy bail ours, yet the Muppet farmers keep blaming everyone else.
1
u/Tacos_are_my_friend 2h ago
And for the second time, who gives a shit if those farmers go belly up if their produce donāt see our shelves in the first place? How much does the US eat soybeans? Why is that so hard to comprehend?
1
u/CheddarCheese_Sndwch 2h ago
GDP of agricultural products is 170 billion to 195 billion dollars. So yes we would be impacting our GDP.

Given the impact that government places on farmers and the variability of crop yields and the pressures of reduced price for produce, and the importance of what farmers provide for us, I am grateful for the sacrifices and dedication by farmers of all kinds and in all places.
1
u/HexedShadowWolf 3h ago
Nothing says sacrifice like hiring illegals so you can pay them less, threaten them with deportation if they don't work for less than they are worth, voting to have them deported and then acting like the victims once they have no workers. True sacrifice if ever I seen it.

u/iamaredditboy 3h ago
Bigger dummies than them are the Democrats. They will come to power and do the same thing to themselves again. Hope they do something to change the dynamics in the farm belt permanently. No more freebies.
