Exactly!

Men are rapists, not all men

Men are misogynistic, not all men

Men only want control, not all men

Men hate strong women, not all men

Men only think about one thing, not all men

The list goes on for days. There are many awful men in the world and there are many men in the world who are not.

And there are the majority who don’t call that shit out and let it fester in their communities and friend groups. Yes, “not all men”, but letting it continue and grow and eventually hurt someone… then they go “well how would I know my creepy friend would touch you inappropriately! Maybe you shouldn’t wear that around him!” And so on.

“Not all men” is an excuse to make you feel better about yourself and to wash your hands of accountability.

Accountability for what exactly?

The Cornel 7 case as a glaring and recent example. Over 100 men in a group chat and none stepped up to speak on Jane Doe’s behalf. Over 100 men refused to hold those 7 accountable. Those are the “not all men”.

But sure, let’s ignore the obvious issues in our society.
