Murdered By Words 𩸠Sadly, this isn't the first election they've likened their policies to the Titanic. Have we learned anything this time?

u/Spsurgeon 12h ago
The Titanic hit an iceberg and sank because the Rich owners ignored conditions and people with experience.

Even if they turned the Titanic around, it would not have taken all night.

Republican politicians are great at complaining and bitching when things they broke are being fixed and going well but horrible at fixing anything or bringing about meaningful change when they are in power because they arent builders. They are imbeciles. They are the party of ruin, stupidity, lies and deception.
5
u/Exciting-Emu-3324 8h ago
They are thieves. They just cut taxes for their masters and gorge themselves on grift every single time.

Exactly. For decades the Republicans have simply been the complainers, with no plan or policy to fix anything. They only know how to bitch about things.

Well, Reagan claimed he had a plan: a thousand points of light ( private charities) and trickle down economics āraising all boatsā. We saw how well that worked, so maybe Republicans without a plan is still better than with one. Then of course thereās Trump, whose āplanā was to āfix everything on the first day!ā

But that is precisely what they promised while running in 2024!
Trump: "I will stop the war in Ukraine immediately!"
Trump: "I will resolve the national debt in 8 years!"
Trump: "I will lower your gas price!"
It is entirely fair to judge Trump and Vance based on their performance compared to their promises.

Just Dance Vance is not a smart man. Is he implying that his and Drumpfs corruption is gonna sink the US just like the Titantic? Just Dance and the felon have put the US is this position and now they are cinching the deal by drowning us all. Unless, we Vote Blue.
6
u/AeliusRogimus 12h ago
I actually think he is pretty smart, he just has no charisma and is an empty suit who can't connect with people.
I hate Trump so much I can't even think straight when he's talking live, but he has a superhuman ability to sell bullshit and tap into white angst. Vance can't even crowd work a donut shop.
Trump picked the ultimate insurance policy with him as the VP, Vance would be far worse, and his technocrat sponsor is just waiting in the wings....
→ More replies (1)2
u/Resident_Trash5605 10h ago
I suspect vance is a certain kind of smart. Like he went to Yale or whatever so I'm sure he is smart but his reasoning and ability to think on his feet isn't all that from what I've seen.
If you go to grad school you'll learn that there are smart people who work furiously hard and digest information and vomit it back at a very high level. They can even apply it adequately enough for school. But if they're asked to do something novel which will require them to use some creativity and critical thinking and not just apply what they learned in a way that they were already trained to do, they struggle.Ā
Based on my admittedly limited sample of vance, I'd guess he's that kind of smart. The kind that will excel if you ask him to do something where he was trained exactly how to do that thing, even if it's a complex version of that thing. But if something weird and novel comes up? You're gonna want someone else.Ā

Didn't this guy write books? Shockingly bad analogy for a writer. Titanic is literally a real life example of how reckless hubris, pig headedness and blind faith in leaders can lead to disaster for the poorest people - while the rich get to sail away in the life boats.
3
u/Constant-Roll706 9h ago
It also, after a quick search, seems it would take about 6 minutes to turn 360 degrees at full speed. Should be able to turn it around overnight pretty easily
4
u/Automatic-Channel-32 12h ago
The saying is, "You don't turn a battleship around overnight or an aircraft carrier overnight." Who the hell says Titanic? Jesus.
2
u/Lonely_MuffinXo 7h ago

The Lusitania is a more apt parallel for what they are doing to the economy.
3
u/Taychon2319 12h ago
Actively sending the ship out so it will get sunk so we can get into a war is exactly right.

Nothing this administration has done has helped the middle and lower class! NOTHING! Everything is for the rich! This administration is taking the side of a known murderer, a known enemy of the U.S. in Putin! He is allowing thousands of innocent Ukrainians to die while he sucks up to his dictator boss, who by the way will kill him if he does not follow his directions, why, cause Putin owns Trump and is directing him to slowly tear our country down! It wonāt be bombs, or gun fire that beings the USA to its knees, it will be the hate of our own people that will be our undoing ! Remember that the meek shall inherit the earth not the rich!

MAGA policy likened to the titanic, a true comparison, badly designed and doomed!
1
1
u/Aezetyr 12h ago
Well, yeah, the Titanic famously steered directly into the iceberg with the delusion that the ship could withstand it. Well, it didn't, and most of the poor/unwealthy on board died as a result. Which is quite possibly the most apt simile that vance here could have been told to use.

I am SO freaking sick of the hypocrisy.
They started blaming Biden only a few months in, including supply chain disruptions:
https://waysandmeans.house.gov/2021/07/20/at-6-months-biden-fails-his-economic-report-card/
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/republicans-blame-biden-inflation-are-they-right-2021-11-01/
https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/gop-governors-team-up-supply-chain
Yet they grant unlimited latitude, patience and understanding for Trump:
https://www.axios.com/2025/06/24/republicans-investigations-biden-trump
The Biden administration faced extensive backlash, investigations, and political scrutiny regarding family business dealings, influence peddling allegations, and federal contracting practices.
"President Biden is compromised, and our national security is threatened. Records obtained through the Committeeās subpoenas to date reveal that the Bidens and their associates have received over $20 million in payments from foreign entities."
https://oversight.house.gov/the-bidens-influence-peddling-timeline/
And what did they find?
LMFAO, the evidence they found refuted their own claims. while investigators documented extensive foreign business dealings by Hunter Biden, the final reports failed to prove Joe Biden personally profited from or altered U.S. policy because of his family's business ties.
House Republicans, led by Chairman James Comer, alleged that members of the Biden family, most notably the former Presidentās son, Hunter Biden, and brother, James Bide used the Biden name to secure over $20 million to $27 million in payments from foreign entities in countries like China, Ukraine, Romania, and Russia.
https://oversight.house.gov/the-bidens-influence-peddling-timeline/
The House Oversight Committee launched inquiries into whether federal contracts and advisory positions were disproportionately awarded to major Democratic donors. For instance, lawmakers scrutinized federal contracts and loans given to companies associated with prominent campaign contributors, demanding transparency from the Office of Management and Budget.
