a bit ironic to attach this comment to a post about obama being in england instead of campaigning for midterm candidates. less than a month until election day and lots of states need help getting out the vote (manchester is not a US state)

Almost like the dude has been retired for 10 years and isn't an asset of the democratic party anymore. If anything Obama should stay away and let the next generation take over, god knows there are too many old farts taking up space in that party as it is.

As somebody that works in politics, specifically campaign strategy at a high level, do not ever give advice again. Ever. Not even how to boil potatoes you nit.

Comment history hidden. They can claim they are anything.
Tomorrow they can claim they're a semi pro fighter in the MMA sub, the next day a lawyer in the ask a lawyer sub, and then a historian in ask a historian.

That's a good point. I trust nothing anyone with a hidden history says.
On the other hand, the advice given was good even without employment verification.

Why use a call to authority when we can't even give a cursory verification?
If you are an expert, you should be able to rely on your knowledge to pump out an argument.
1
u/ReblWithoutApplause Just Chill 😎 3d ago
I don’t waste time on people like you. What about you makes you think I owe you anything? I wasn’t even talking to you.

I'm talking about your original comment. The one made for the guy who was worth a reply, and also made for everyone to see, not just for me.
You used a call to authority as your sole argument. Why even use that as an argument when it can't be checked in rhe slightest. Not even a vibe check.
Edit: and if you want to do the "i wasn't talking to you" game, look at who I responded to originally.

Obama is a rock star and people will turn out to see him. When they show up, he gives inspiring speeches that can turn mildly interested attendees into eager campaign volunteers. There's a lot of ways to serve a nation--running for office is only one of them.

obama still remains one of the most liked and best known national politicians. s
he is particularly well-liked with established democratic party voters, eg: the most relevant demographic of voters in midterms

$900 billion to 1 trillion spent on wars. 150,000 to 200,00 casualties between US soldiers and people abroad. Drone strikes which killed innocent people in seven different countries. Deported more people without due process than any other President in history. These are all facts.
Oh and let’s not forget NSA surveillance on American citizens. I love when people downvote the truth.
27
u/bigdaddydopeskies131 3d ago
Nsa was actually bushs idea with the patriot act. Are you also going to say where was Obama during 9/11?
-2
u/H2Oproof__ 3d ago
You’re right Bush created it. Obama reformed it, but left most of it intact. Both presidents spied on US citizens illegally.
11
u/bigdaddydopeskies131 3d ago
Weird how they could spy on us but can't find any real fugitives wanted by the FBI meanwhile Paxton is partying it up in Dubai with known FBI fugitive. It's weird how they have the equipment and tech but only use it when wanted
0
u/H2Oproof__ 3d ago
That’s because they’re in a big club and we’re not in it. We’re just pawns on their chess board, used for our labor and money. Yet here we are politically divided, while they enrich corporations and tech oligarchs. It should be us against them
10
u/GloomyIndividual3965 3d ago
He inherited those wars, and drew down troop numbers the entire time he was in office. We were completely out of Iraq in early 2011,and down to less than 5k troops in Afghanistan by the end of his term.
Fuck off with this disingenuous bullshit.
→ More replies (3)0
u/H2Oproof__ 3d ago
Those numbers are all facts. I voted for that man twice and then realized that all politicians are garbage. One man, innocent civilian or soldier dying under a president that orders drone strikes that have nothing to do with the day to day lives of American citizens or the protection if our country is evil to the core. I don’t care if it’s Trump, Bush, Obama or Biden. All of them are evil that hide behind the presidency for their acts. You can look up those numbers yourself.
By the way he promised to end the war in Iraq but pledge to escalate Afghanistan

u/GloomyIndividual3965 3d ago
By the way he promised to end the war in Iraq but pledge to escalate Afghanistan
Know I know you're full of shit. We withdrew the last troops from Iraq in December of 2011, and drew down to less than 6k troops in Afghanistan by the time Obama left office.
"I voted for him twice" sure ya did. Fucking liar.

u/rosariobono 3d ago
Where is your proof of deporting people without due process lmao
1
u/H2Oproof__ 3d ago
He used fast track measures without court hearings and no lawyer present to speed up deportations. He would use officers and border agents instead and have asylum seekers sign documents to give up their rights for a fair hearing. The information is there, it’s not hard to find.

If you criticize Biden / Kamala / Obama / Clinton for not being flawless you're MAGA now

No one is saying he was flawless. America has never had a flawless president except maybe Washington, Jefferson or Lincoln. He was still a good president though.

Yes people do say that, 'scandal free presidency' is a phrase I heard too many times. and no he wasn't a good president at all, but certainly better than Biden, and better than Trump

The man holds the record for most drone strikes on civilian targets including blowing up a wedding - really smiley personable individual, but did terrible things and was as much a pawn for the military industrial complex as the rest.
8
u/origamiscienceguy 3d ago
Considering Trump ended the requirement to report drone strikes, that little factoid is probably been surpassed many times over, we just won't know until decades down the line.
1
u/FanDowntown4641 2d ago
You were already able to get around reporting just by goving excuse of necessity
2
u/BlackPhillipStream 3d ago
My favorite fun fact is that Obama drone strikes a US citizen - and on one of Trump's first drone strikes he killed the literal baby sister of that US citizen that Obama killed
2
u/Lonely_Opening3404 2d ago
You're close, but you've got the family relationships mixed up. Obama authorized the drone strike that killed Anwar al-Awlaki, an American citizen, in 2011. Two weeks later, another U.S. drone strike killed his 16-year-old American-born son, Abdulrahman. Then, in 2017, a Navy SEAL raid authorized by Trump killed Anwar's 8-year-old daughter, Nawar, who was Abdulrahman's younger half-sister.
So that's three American citizens from the same family killed in U.S. military operations under two different presidents. And unlike their father, neither child was an identified terrorist target. The actual story is arguably worse than the version you posted.

Interesting how many times I’ve seen this said today
So how involved was the president in day to day drone strikes anyway?

I'm sure there is just a room in the white house where he can pick up a controller or something.

Wall to wall antisemites, including the speaker
2
u/GastonsChin 3d ago
Yes, of course, everybody is just an anti-semite unless you bow down to the government of Israel.
I honestly never thought much about Israel until these last couple of years. I had no general opinion.
Now?
That's changed. Dramatically. I don't have any problem with Jewish people. I have a big problem with genocide, murder, rape, and torture. No matter who does it.
So, before you get yourself off by playing victim for the millionth time, maybe, I don't know, consider what the consequences are of morally reprehensible behavior?
2
0
u/WrongdoerUnited9948 2d ago
There is NO GENOCIDE. This is the problem, the muslim brotherhood, Qatar, Iran, hamas, etc. have paid BILLIONS of dollars to spread propaganda about Jews. People who know Jews would never believe them, but people who claim to have "no opinion" make up their minds pretty fast because they are already biased and don't realize it. THE MUSLIMS ARE LYING ABOUT THIS!! They know they are -- but they also know that there's so much antisemitism in the world they can just say anything and it will be believed. Everything they say about Israel is what THEY HAVE DONE or TRIED TO DO. Israel doesn't murder, nor rape - that is a Muslim thing. It takes a real person to look carefully in this day and age to see what is true and what is not. Those people are increasingly rare, but they matter more in the world than anyone else.
2
u/Rich_Nature5025 2d ago
75,000 dead Palestinian children
0
u/WrongdoerUnited9948 2d ago
No, according to them 67-75k all together, mostly NOT children. All the fault of Hamas from beginning to end - for starting the war and for hiding behind children.
2
u/Rich_Nature5025 2d ago
Real soldiers don't shoot at or bomb people hiding behind children. They take care of the children first and then dispense justice.
1
u/WrongdoerUnited9948 2d ago
Real soldiers don't kidnap innocent people at a concert and torture and starve and rape them until released. Israel announced when and where they were bombing. They should have left and if Hamas was holding them there on purpose to make Israel look bad, that's also on Hamas.
1
u/Rich_Nature5025 2d ago
Hamas aren't real soldiers they're terrorists. The way Israel is responding to terrorists in a population is by genociding the entire population, which is hypocritical and pure evil.
1
u/GastonsChin 2d ago
You are detached from reality. Your personal bias and prejudice has compromised your perspective and you're honestly just saying complete bullshit to cover up your lack of humanity.
When you can start being honest about the situation, people will begin to take you seriously.
Until then, however, you just look like another person defending genocide. And that's not a good look.
0
u/WrongdoerUnited9948 2d ago
I am completely honest with myself and others and try not to hate anyone. You apparently think you are - but why are you so invested in this particular matter and not about all the other true genocides that are occurring all over Africa and the middle east by Muslims. Do you ever ask yourself why you only post about this when you could be looking at a million other things and you have no real skin in the game? Try to understand what your real motivation is - are you trying to fit in with other people influenced by propaganda?
1
u/GastonsChin 2d ago
I care about anyone being killed by religious zealots.
This one is a big focus because my money is funding it against my will.
It is a genocide. A true genocide. Your denial of that truth shows that you're compromised from either seeing it or admitting it.
Either way it points to you being a coward, not someone that I need to listen to and take seriously.
If you're being honest, then be honest.
It's a genocide.

I mean popularity and politics aside (way, WAY aside), Obama is one of the best public speakers in American history. I’d choose one over the other simply for the fact that the speech is coherent, intelligent, and has a god damn point.
I’ve never listened to a full Trump speech because it makes me want to jump into traffic.
