American Dream 🇺🇸 It do be like that though

Post image

The United States has provided at least $21.7 billion in direct military aid to Izzy over the last three years (specifically tracking from October 2023 through September 2025), according to a comprehensive study by Brown University's Costs of War project.

I mean until recently we were subsidizing Affordable Care Act healthcare plans and investing hundreds of billions of dollars in infrastructure and manufacturing jobs, but then we elected Trump and pissed all that away.

We were trying to bring down the cost of healthcare and investing in job creation, Republican voters had other ideas.

Edit: We also eliminated more than $180,000,000,000.00 in student loan debt, expanded SNAP benefits, and passed Medicare prescription bargaining rights, which weren't explicitly mentioned in the meme, but which I think plays into cost of living and stuff like that.

u/Winter-Editor-9230 18d ago

Ideas implies thought.

7

u/figherhigher 18d ago

What about a concept of an idea tho?

7

u/MaximumEffort433 18d ago

A big, beautiful concept of an idea came up to me with tears in its eyes and said "In terms of groceries, we've never heard of groceries before," it told me "They're eating the groceries of the people who live there," it's true! You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

u/zeroshitsgiven1 18d ago

We need a lot more thought brother, I know I cant take us there. Still, if we can remove the toxic handcuffs long enough and focusing on real steps forward we can get back on track as a country. People are going to have to sac up though, and that means everyone.

18

u/zeroshitsgiven1 18d ago

Republicans couldn't let it be successful. They undermined it to death along the way intentionally, then Trump destroyed it. Good news is I believe the real next chapter for the USA is excellent universal healthcare. But it will take time and need to be systematic. I can't wait for the day insurance, a useless entity, is gone. I don't even use it much and I hate it. GOP was dying before Trumps first term and he stirred an old conservative cult into action. You can call it many things but it was racists, 1%ers and the uneducated. The young maga that were fooled will slow change and forget Trump bs, the older will continue to poop themselves for a few more years like their leader in chief then depart. They don't have the time or the numbers ultimately. This shit will happen!

2

u/luigihitter 18d ago

It was always meant to be that way. Division that us and in a way you’re doing the same thing even if you hold some sense of morality which it seems you do. Problem is what other choice is there?

4

u/0w1 18d ago

I'm not that optimistic. The boomer voting block will never go for universal healthcare because they think it's big, boogeyman socialism, but ironically they'll also be getting Medicare. They just won't have much incentive to care, heck, even if Medicare was gutted or completely went away, they'd probably just blame Obama for it and keep voting republican.

9

u/b__lumenkraft 18d ago

but then we elected Trump and pissed all that away.

You pronounced "a self-proclaimed child rapist" wrong.

13

u/lcrtangls 18d ago

Just so we're clear, a sizable chunk of people commenting here didn't vote because "both sides fund 'Izzy'". They are as complicit as the republican voters.

1

u/Burt_Macklin___ 18d ago

Yep, what that person is saying is such a massive deflection from the issue. That's why I hate "centrists" almost as much as Right wingers. They're tribal, and willing to defend atrocious things

1

u/MaximumEffort433 18d ago edited 18d ago

Yep, what that person is saying is such a massive deflection from the issue.

Meme: "I can't afford healthcare!"

Until recently we were subsidizing Affordable Care Act healthcare plans.

Meme: "I can't find a job!"

Until recently we were investing hundreds of billions of dollars in infrastructure and manufacturing jobs.

If the only thing you care about is Israel then yeah, I get it, but I care about jobs and healthcare, too. Democrats were trying to help the people in the meme, but I guess that's a "deflection."

"We gave $20 billion to Israel."

Democrats also gave $300 billion to SNAP, and invested $400 billion in infrastructure, and invested $700 billion in climate change and renewable energy, and invested $1.9 trillion in the COVID recovery, and those things matter, too.

People on this sub will still tell you that both parties are the same.

1

u/TheBeeFactory 18d ago

Neither party will ever give you M4A, and will continue to feverishly support private ownership of every major industry. In that respect, they are exactly the same.

1

u/MaximumEffort433 18d ago edited 18d ago

Neither party will ever give you M4A, and will continue to feverishly support private ownership of every major industry. In that respect, they are exactly the same.

One party did give us Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, regulated the health insurance industry and halved the uninsured rate by passing the Affordable Care Act, and saved American tax payers billions of dollars by passing Medicare prescription bargaining rights, one party even passed a universal public option in the House, though the other party filibustered and killed it in the Senate.

If you only care about healthcare, one party is still clearly and infinitely better than the other.

7

u/Woozy_burrito 18d ago

People didn’t want want any of that 🤷 they were more concerned about 3 trans athletes and abortion

5

u/MaximumEffort433 18d ago

People didn’t want want any of that 🤷

75,019,230 of us wanted that. 😞

1

u/johnwau 18d ago

As much as I hate that those were such hot button issues, that misses the point entirely. Americans didn’t just suddenly decide as a group that these are the important issues to dig our heels into the ground for.

These culture war issues were manufactured by the mainstream media and social media algorithms have pushed fringe viewpoints enough that it’s convinced people that these are actual issues that most of the country cares about.

Even now, it’s keeping people divided. People are so focused on how apparently it’s 100% on the non voters and uneducated, when propaganda has been flooding all channels of media for decades manufacturing these issues and making them unavoidable. On top of that, republicans openly brag about stealing the election.

I’ve voted in every election that I’ve been able to since I was of age by the way. I also think it’s asinine to decide who you vote for solely based on their stance on abortion or trans rights. But let’s not forget the root cause of all of these issues.

Those on the outside that can’t see this, I get it and all I can say is I hope this doesn’t take ahold in their country, because alot of these same tactics are being used elsewhere, maybe save for the election tampering.

And now Medicaid has a work demand starting next year where one of the exceptions is volunteering. The type of volunteering that must be legally acceptable and that you still basically have to keep a timecard for, 20 hours a week, if your part time job isn't fully 20 hours.

There's going to be double-digit millions of people disqualified & uninsured in just 3 months.

Repugnantcans still haven't come up with a different type of medical plan in substitution for Obamacare.

1

u/Irksomefetor 18d ago

I've been telling people to try to go back to school instead of volunteering. If they're on Medicaid then they surely qualify for FAFSA. With just 2 classes a semester you satisfy most if not all of the 80 hour work demand.

2

u/MsMarvelsProstate 18d ago

But when you're done you'll owe $20,000 and that is probably an issue.

1

u/Irksomefetor 18d ago

FAFSA is federal help for school. Unless you're going to a University or something, it would cover all of it.

1

u/Agitated_Reach6660 18d ago

Yeah…that doesn’t seem like the best advice…

1

u/Irksomefetor 18d ago

Compared to what? Volunteer work? Because the alternative for some people is just... losing their insurance.

1

u/Agitated_Reach6660 18d ago

No, compared to having something like 50,000 in debt with compounding interest after 4 years. It’s not like volunteering and college are the only two options here, that’s just a laughable false dichotomy. People do need insurance, of course, but accumulating significant debt for access is simply terrible advice. Sorry.

1

u/Adventurous_Ad7442 18d ago

Does being in school count for the work requirement?

1

u/Irksomefetor 18d ago

Yes, it does. Half time or more. That's 2 classes at any given college.

A lot of words to say "be happy with the garbage candidate we give you, who will still give billions of dollars and tons of weapons to Israel, and will still never ever support public healthcare, and will never go against the oil lobby, and will never give you any actual progressive reforms... Because the other guy is worse."

Really. What a great argument for Harris.

1

u/Opetyr 18d ago

So question why subsidize healthcare when insurance companies profits are in the billions? Maybe have a true Medicare for all and screw those companies. The subsidize is only to give insurance companies billions for their bribes of maybe at most a couple million.

1

u/TheBeeFactory 18d ago

Because none of our politicians have the balls to stand up to literally any corporations. They're terrified of losing their donations and lobbyist support.

I have another one - "Let's chose a billionaire for president, this way he will not rip us off as he's got enough money!" /s

3

u/FUNNYGUY123414 18d ago

It's especially filthy that we're spending billions to fund the Palestinian genocide, but lets be real. Funding Israel isn't stopping us from taxing the rich or distributing funds to better our society. We're spending nearly $1 trillion on defense funding this year. That is beyond incomprehensible.

This website puts into perspective 1 billion vs 1 million. That alone shows why billionaires and mega millionaires shouldn't exist. We truly can't fathom the quantity 1 billion, yet we spend 1000 times that every year on our defense and we get nothing. Just millions of dead humans and endless, useless wars for 75 years.

The whole world could be living with abundance if not for the power hungry, fear and hatred, and capitalism.

Reminder that Israel has really good and cheap healthcare thanks to American tax payers

2

u/Gainztrader235 18d ago

Israel’s universal healthcare is funded through Israeli health insurance taxes and government spending. Americans don’t directly pay Israelis’ health insurance bills.

U.S. taxpayers fund substantial military assistance: the standing agreement provides $3.8 billion annually for military financing and missile defense, subject to congressional appropriations. That funding is designated for defense.

The indirect argument is reasonable: covering some defense costs can free Israeli resources for healthcare and other priorities. But that’s a budget effect, not a direct U.S. payment for Israel’s healthcare system.

Can you stop spreading this lie? American aid is 0,5% of israeli GDP. Most of it is spend on intercepting rockets. Rockets that are 100% illegal under international law and always aimed at civilian targets. I thought people cared about international law, but I guess it doesn't count when it's to protect jews. Palestinians receive about twice as much aid per capita. Do you know who supports your anti Foreign aid rhetoric? The far right in Israel (https://www.aa.com.tr/en/us-israel-iran-war/netanyahu-proposes-phasing-out-us-military-aid-to-israel-over-10-years-report/4013139)

90 million abstainers and 80 million voters heard the announcements of DOGE, MAHA, melaniacoin, Thiel, the Epstein cover up, j6 pardons, and Project 2025. They chose to use their democratic voice to directly or indirectly support it all.

3

u/-OooWWooO- 18d ago

Should the US not be sending money to Israel? Yes. Is that aid to israel the reason why universal healthcare doesn't exist? No. On the average yearly aid is in the mid to low Single digit billions lately around 3.8 billion. Since 1948 in total Israel has received about 300 billion total dollars. Compare that to the DoD budget from 1948 to today that is 30 to 35 trillion. Annual subsidies to the oil industry are between 15-35 billion. So even if you believe in the false inflated number of 20 billion, your government pays more to the oil industry every year than Israel.

9

u/ssnnaarrff 18d ago

Didn't we give like 80 billion to ICE for their shock gloves and concentration camp budget? That seems like a bad one too.

Israel funding is 0.07% of budget, it should be zero, but the bigger problem is, When do we talk about how we manage the rest 99.93% of the budget to help solve our problems ?

Welp, USAID giving billions of dollars ANNUALLY to foreign countries and you weren’t complaining

That's how it works! 100%! Not because you elect clinically ill people to power. First Obama, then Trump. Then, once you were able to elect Biden, there must have been some enlightenment. And then Trump again. Bcs of Israel and helping allies on money you still didn't get or take.

Healthcare issues are not caused by lack of money. In US they spend already a lot of money in healthcare. The issue is chronic under supply, put up by chains of monopolies from doctors to pharma to healthcare to insurances.

Let's imagine you tomorrow double the amount you spend: nothing would change, same amount of visits, diagnoses, therapies, surgeries but at roughly double the price.

That's because supply is artificially constrained. Either you can make doctor visit more or that's the amount of "doctor-hours" you have and that's finely regulated by doctors themselves to keep their income high.

Namely the number of doctors that can enroll is fixed and can't answer any price incentive. There is only one thing that's certain, as long as we allow professions to self regulate they will screw you.

BTW if there was big money in healthcare, there would be more people who wanted to be doctors. It’s a path to success. Pretending that there’s some secret cabal of doctors slowing down their work to drive up prices is extra special thinking.

2

u/KimJongAndIlFriends 18d ago

The cabal is constraining how many doctors can get their licenses and legally practice medicine; they are not constraining how many hours each licensed doctor is allowed to work.

There are a lot of limiting factors to becoming a licensed doctor so the normal supply/demand curve isn't as applicable.

There is big money in healthcare. Not everyone can be a doctor. Not everyone can pass the courses nor has a desire to spend 10yrs of their life in school.

1

u/LeftAccident5662 18d ago

Yes, comrade. That’s how all careers work. If the investment is worthwhile people will invest. Not everyone is a Stakhanovite.

1

u/Accomplished-Pace114 18d ago

Yet the investment is worthwhile to become a doctor. The investment will be worse if moving to a healthcare for all system.

Why do you spread misleading information? The number of slots is FIXED in almost all countries, for oligopolistic reason. How are you so ignorant about something and you speak about it?

I’m old enough to remember when Obama made fun of John McCain for suggesting that Russia is a security threat.

3

u/Noobzoid123 18d ago

Russia didn't attack the US, J6ers did.

1

u/Warmbly85 18d ago

Russia has absolutely attacked the US and Europe both kinetically and electronically.

From using the Wagner group in the Middle East to countless hacks your point is completely false

2

u/Noobzoid123 18d ago

Sure but domestic terror is a bigger threat.

1

u/Warmbly85 18d ago

Domestic terror really isn’t as big of a threat as Russia or China.

China is one invasion of Taiwan away from crippling the global economy as we know for years. Taiwan makes a majority of the most advanced chips and have plans to destroy their entire production capability before turning them over.

Russia is less of a threat to the US and that’s why the US changed its policy on arming Ukraine. The US doesn’t give Ukraine weapons directly anymore but they do allow European countries to skip the line and purchase them for Ukraine. US really only gives intelligence now but also changed its policy on what kind of intel. Under Biden almost no intel on internationally recognized Russia was given. Under Trump we’ve seen that reversal result in the refinery and distribution hub campaigns throughout Russia.

Sure Russia isn’t as dangerous but at the same time Russia can take advantage of China moving on Taiwan and Europe being years away from self sufficiency. By forcing Russia to grind itself down it gives the US and Europe the ability to ram up production and stockpiles.

Domestic terror is a bigger threat to individual politicians but very little threat to the actual government of the US

Since that never happened, are you thinking of Romney instead of McCain?

1

u/justsomedude4202 18d ago

You’re right. Even worse since Russia took Crimea only 2 years later. I appreciate you pointing that out.

2

u/WallEInOrbit 18d ago

How much did we send to Ukraine between 2020 and 2023?

2

u/Creative_Fudge6074 18d ago

Ukraine is not committing genocide. Interesting how you think helping people is the bad part here.

1

u/LeftAccident5662 18d ago

Nice deflection there.

0.1% of total US federal expenditure, btw. I mean, if those $20 per person per year would have got you free healthcare, I don't think healthcare would have been such an issue in the first place.

Just wait untill you find how much we colectively gave Ukraine 😂
