But unless it’s downright untenable, he’d never have my vote.Israel is bad enough ; but anyone who’s against healthcare can get right the fuck on

Beware the purity tests. And beware the discouragement operatives who act like termites, eating away at politics by false equivalencies.
Kelly is a practical person who had both Republicans and Democrats voting for him. If there were viable AOC-type candidates to replace him, then fine. Otherwise, he is a strong candidate and a reasonable choice.

The rest of the world (at least your former friends and allies) does as well. There have to be serious consequences. There finally has to be accountability for politicians and economic leaders. And not just in the US.
I hope he will even get the chance because Trump and his oligarch buddies can not afford to lose their majorities exactly for that reason. All the open corruption and crime are shocking. They know people are angry, thus the normalizing of a surveillance state and oppression.

Took half a milion dollars from AIPAC and his stance on the genocide is "maybe they should stop genociding them THIS hard", opposes the Green New Deal - is instead in favor of expanding oil drilling, opposes Medicare for All.
Need more? All of this is available on his Wikipedia page. It's surface level stuff. He's just another political grifter taking millions in bribes from lobbyists.

9
u/SomethingSoOp 25d ago
They aren’t viable candidates because people keep spreading this bs sentiment. If instead of saying, I like them but they would lose, maybe talk up what you like about them and why they should win. Maybe it reaches the Ill informed and wins them a vote instead of the message “well If I vote for them it’s a throw away vote” that this keeps spreading.

u/Jbash_31 23d ago
That’s the thing, if you look at his comments he basically has the stance that most Americans have with Israel. Doesn’t support it’s currently leadership and the war but support its right to exist. Anyone who thinks the Dem candidate will have any other stance is kidding themselves

u/NoConfusion9490 25d ago
This is going to tear the Democratic party apart in 2028, and it'll probably cost us our democracy. Every foreign adversary will have bots both siding this issue non stop in the hopes of unseating America as a superpower.

Pete Buttigieg hands down... sorry, unpopular opinion I know, but Harris had her chance(s) and can't rally the party behind her, while AOC would be poison to the independent vote. I would say Bernie but sadly he's too old now.

5
u/Veshaad Timendi Causa Est Nescire 25d ago
Race/gender has nothing to do with it. Facts are facts and the Democratic party needs to realize that. We need candidates that can fire up the party like Obama did. This combination, in my humble opinion, would be best and have the greatest chance at both success and creating a positive outcome for the country. If it's Harris/AOC we might as well hand the win to Vance. People might not like to hear that, but it's the hard truth.

u/Dr_Ukato 25d ago
Harris had what eight months to rally the party after becoming the new participant and still only lost by a 0.X% difference in an election under heavy scrutiny.
You're saying that a construction worker is bad at their job because they couldn't finish a four month project in a single month by your logic.
1
u/Usual-Recording-3775 24d ago
And in those eight months she actively decided to say she’d do nothing different from Biden, she wanted the most lethal military, a stronger border wall, no reasonable change to stop a genocide or hold Israel accountable outside of the same baseless “ceasefire” talk, her best economic populist message was a tax credit for small businesses??? She decided to run with Liz Cheney, bill clinton, etc.
The idea that “that’s all she could do in 8 months, she did her best”. Is preposterous especially when considering she was running against an unpopular insurrectionist psychopath, where all she had to do was present a progressive path forward of improvement, and unlink herself from Biden. It’s not primarily the 8 months, it’s how awful her campaign was in that 8 months.

I think we needed Harris when we did. I think this election i have to agree just fucking run the White Christian veteran men and sweep this thing. It's not what we need but it's the most sure fire way to garuntee the results we need. We need a woman president who acts like a bad bitch. Either way I don't want to play nice with the Republicans anymore. I want trials, investigations, hearings, justice restored and dealt. If we don't make the 3-4 tiered court system and make examples out of these so called politicians our country will be doomed regardless.
1
u/Usual-Recording-3775 24d ago
If we run white male christians who are more centrist and pro-Israel like Kelly, not only will you not get the retribution you’re looking for, but you’ll get the same do-nothing democrats that lead to trump twice now.
You NEED a staunch progressive who is dedicated to improving people’s lives and getting shit done. If people see that’s how democrats are moving now, you’re looking at a potential dynasty moving forward. If it’s the same milquetoast garbage pro-Israel anti Medicare for all anti affordable housing pro wall street democrats, if they win 2028 they’ll likely lose in 2032 to the next republican goon lying about economic populism.

Pete B. is a man who could crush any Republican in any debate. He was completely dialed in with the transportation portfolio, and regularly showed he worked FOR THE PEOPLE, and not for the corporations.
So while he is absolutely competent, he also has an abundance of integrity and that is almost more important these days.

u/Responsible_Art_6553 25d ago
I don’t dislike Mark Kelly. Hell, if it was 2016 I’d love him.
But now, I worry that if he runs and wins the presidency nothing will change. I feel like he’s an establishment dem that will hold the status quo, not make any waves, and after 4 years of nothing really changing the right will come right back and go even further.
I don’t pretend to know what will happen with a very progressive left president. What i do know is the republicans have broken all prior standards and spent years breaking all the rules to get whatever they want. We need someone who will fight fire with fire. Fuck the rules, change things for the better and let the right fight back afterwards. If the left insists on following every rule and expected behavior to fix the shit trump did with no authority and a swipe of the sharpie they will never fix anything.
After four years of a centrist dem president being polite and not ruffling feathers very little will change. And that is what will allow the right to come back and win by claiming the weak dems didn’t fix anything but the republicans were almost there until they had to give 4 years up to the other side.
3
u/DieDieDieD 25d ago
The problem these days is that a centrist is basically a republican of 30-40 years ago. The Overton window has shifted so far right since Raegan that even no-brainer issues like electric cars or supporting Ukraine have become “radical” left-leaning viewpoints. We need to shift the window back to normalcy but I have no hope for that considering all the dark money in politics. People are too gullible and too comfortable.

I 100% agree with you, we don’t need more establishment nonsense.
But my Dad, who voted twice for trump despite hating him since 2015, said he would vote for Kelly. And that’s probably about it for him in terms of democrat candidates.
We won’t know for another year what’ll really happen but Kelly is just the only one I see winning right now. He’s BY FAR the hardest target for all these delusional “radical left” weirdos. I just want 4 fucking years of normalcy. And my personal theory is Kelly would open the door for the people we actually want in office, by showing everybody how badly their previous choice fucked up the country.

u/Whocaresalot 25d ago
You have that backwards, at the very least. If we still have the opportunity to vote freely in 2028, we need a candidate that will win. Enough with the idea that anyone is "owed" their parties nomination ( like Hillary, Garland, and yes - Harris). We have to win. But, for now, we must vote in massively indisputable numbers to eject as many in the GOP as possible this November.

There are numerous other writings of the framers that are available to read to better understand the context of the Bill of Rights.
Now, let's look at the first half of the second amendment. The word "regulated" used in the context of the time means to "make regular" or "common", and milita refered to a group of armed citizens, typically outside of the authority of government.
Now on to the second half, and your second part. Where does it say no restrictions whatsoever? "...shall not be infringed".
Your right, it probably only did refer to white, males at the time (just as the entire bill of rights did). That has since been corrected by other amendments.
There is no such thing as "common sense" gun control. All gun control is unconstitutional.
