Rich people love spending money on impractical things to show off their wealth.

u/waltsnider1 Aug 21 '26
This is why we have a grass lawn instead of growing crops.
6
2
u/3Gloins_in_afountain Aug 21 '26
Or even clover, for need.
Pre-WWII, almost everyone had clover lawns.
After the war ended, what time manufacturers had an excess of chemicals, and they decided that the best way to use up their reserves and sell them off was by convincing the average American returning home that he needed a pristine, perfect grass lawn.
2
u/TheReturnofPanda Aug 21 '26
Oh they will persecute anyone who replaces their lawns. You’d make a zen garden with just rocks and they’d go over the top insane about it
1
u/Puzzled_Bus_7505 Aug 24 '26
I have a grass lawn because it’s my lawn and I want my kids to have an outdoor surface to play on, lay on, and be organized. No clover because I don’t want anyone getting stung when roaming around barefoot. Grass blades get dirty, get cut, and grow in clean again. It’s one of the most incredible surfaces to enjoy. It has nothing to do with money for me. I’m not rich. But you’ll never win this arguement for me. Love me a nice lawn.

Influencers are buying this stuff for posts. I can’t imagine many people who could afford these actually buying them.
1
u/knickknacktabasco Aug 21 '26
If those shows were normal prices dumb average women would buy them too.

Did a quick search. If I read correctly, and I hope I made a mistake, these start at around $1,500 USD. Seriously, what is wrong with these people?
8
u/LPedraz Aug 21 '26
Their expenses are in a different order of magnitude. This is not about someone who makes double your salary, or three times your salary. This is about someone who makes 1000 times your salary, so something costing 1500 USD is below noticeability.
9
3
u/Majestic_Subject_475 Aug 21 '26
I make 100k a year. 150 million is 1500x the salary.. Some of the people make that on one album or one movie.. try about 5000 magnitude to the avg american.

I don’t know. She got a lot of press (that isn’t about her divorce) over these stupid shoes. ♟️
3
u/Beautiful-Total-3172 Aug 22 '26
She probably got paid to wear them. Designers pay a lot of money to be shown on the red carpet.
1
u/TheReturnofPanda Aug 21 '26
Holy piss.
2
u/Sweet_Water_8459 Aug 22 '26
Aside from the price and all, does she use a damn scouring pad to clean her feet when she goes home? Considering what she’s walking through. Are people really this gross? I remember a friend of mine who would wear these terribly oversized “pajama” like pants. And the bottoms were blackened and shredded under her Birkenstocks. I found it repulsive. Perhaps I’m old fashioned.
1
u/TheReturnofPanda Aug 22 '26
Remember when lobster was peasant food? I guess the logic here is that shoes and socks are what poor people wear. We have to walk on common ground and they do not need to so have no reason to have proper footwear. I thought I could not hate the rich more than I already did
13
u/FeudalAce Aug 21 '26
I... uh... idk man. I would like to think so? But then again...

u/Conscious-Quarter423 Aug 21 '26

u/Ashleybernice Aug 21 '26
I was just thinking they will put them on some young celebrity for the feet lovers

u/TheReturnofPanda Aug 21 '26
I’d almost wager…. Why even have shoes on at all in this case? Would be way less costly and they’d get what they wanted anyways?

u/Eggsaladinurmouth Aug 21 '26
Can’t believe that moustache is back.
1
u/TyrantMuse73 The Timeline Sucks Aug 21 '26
Due to childhood trauma, that particular moustache will always be considered a pedophile stache for me. shudders

Yes. There is a very niche group of frantically bored rich people, who buy absolute trash, with designer logos for ridiculous prices. Balenciaga is famous for this. Normal products, nothing special, just phenomenal marketing and bored rich people.

u/Scary__Poppins Aug 21 '26
Yes. Former friend of an actual billionaire with the dirtiest feet I’ve even seen.

u/ar3iadov3 Aug 21 '26
The toes aren’t even painted like if you’re gonna show off your foot like this paint the toes put on some toe rings idk something

u/Apple-Dust Aug 21 '26 edited Aug 21 '26
OK setting the stupid looks aside for a second, I want to talk about the stupid function. There is no way that is in any way comfortable. Your foot is going to be constantly wanting to slide out the front, only to be sort-of-stopped by those strings stretching and digging in against your instep. Then when you pick up your heel, it's going to be the same problem but in reverse. I already imagined what it would feel like and it ruined my night.

Accountant: You’ll be more profitable if you used 1/3 of the materials
President: I’ll see what design and marketing can come up with
2
u/groovymama98 Aug 21 '26
Well I think I'm a little confused. But all I see is a dirty foot getting dirtier with each step. Just ew.

u/carrot_gummy Aug 21 '26
This comes off as a fetish thing more than capitalist hellscape thing.

I actually understand (understand not approve ) walking around with the million dollars Chanel bag that lets you feel like you're better than anybody else. But these shoes just show the world that you're a moron

u/sealilymarron2 Aug 21 '26
Probably. That one seems like it's to sneak around the red carpet rules which require a woman to wear heels. I assume the rule does not actually specify anything about toes so this is as close to barefoot as the rules will allow.

To fuck with us means we should care but we simply don’t. We just laugh at them cause it’s not the 90s anymore and the Hollywood glam is not selling the way they want
1
u/SnippetySnappety Aug 21 '26
- some of these should be seen as a visual equivalent of either experimental jazz music, or R&D. They don't make sense because most people aren't the intended audience. It's someone whose medium is fabric/leather experimenting with crazy stupid shapes for its own sake, like a cook trying to figure out if they can make something tasty with orange juice and toothpaste, just as a challenge.- expensive objects like fashion and art do not count for taxes but retain their resale value

This brand is for poor people wanted to be rich… the ultra rich people buy from brand that u dont even know it exist…
1
u/VelvetRabbit91 Aug 21 '26
They want to see how far brainwashed dumbasses will go, and so far there isn't a limit. People continue to buy name brand items to look "cool".

To be fair, when the revolution comes they are going to have a harder time running away from the angry mobs.

u/Level-Possibility-69 Aug 22 '26
Slap a fashion label on something, no matter how silly, and there will be lemmings lining up to buy and wear it. Gotta show off to others with the label!
Best example I've experienced, friend went to buy Montcler jacket. Really likes this one black jacket, but the complaint was the fashion label was black as well and you couldn't see it as well so others wouldn't notice it was Montcler. Bought a different color where the label was prominent.

I actually think it’s lovely. Ok, it’s not protective footwear, it’s something else. But - beautiful.

Lol, silly rich people. Gaslighting themselves since the start of them thinking they were important. Bless their hearts.

An abomination along with sandals and flip flops. Wear proper footwear. Nobody wants to see or smell your feet. Plus all of these things are bad for your posture

I should let my Dad know. These are his best shoes from when he walked to school.
1
u/Guily-Von-Interlgos Aug 25 '26
Rich people don't buy that, brand, only new "rich" or stupid middle-class people.
1
u/phonnybalonny Aug 25 '26
No with themselves, because full brainers see that as a piece of garbage and won’t buy into the designer dictation.
1
u/Adrima_the_DK Aug 26 '26
Rich people won't buy this. That's why they are rich.
Poor people pretending to be rich however...

I mean, yeah it's silly but also as someone that has heel issues/pain and also likes being barefoot, having something to support or cushion my heel and leave the rest of my foot bare might actually be super comfortable if made properly and not just for "fashion".

This reeks of AI bullshit
“Now that I’ve fired all of the designers, I can just have computers make the new shoes.”
[Enters prompt]
[Computer spits out this]
“… I’m so smart. Another bonus for me.”
