[LabB0T] Monthly Projects Megathread — October 2026
Monthly Projects Megathread — October 2026
There has been an influx of people wanting to share their projects and we have recently decided to disallow such posts on the subreddit as the vast majority of it is vibe coded slop, however, we continue to be inundated with these requests, and some of these are somewhat legit, so here we are.
This thread is for people to share 'their' projects, apps, scripts or anything else Plex related.
You may only post your project here once per month, and you may only post one project.
Rules
- Declare AI use - if you used AI or AI assistance (ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.) at any point during development, you must state this clearly, as per the template below. Failure to disclose will result in removal and a ban from the subreddit.
- Be detailed - vague "I made a thing, here's a link" posts will be removed. Tell us what it does, why you built it, how it works, and any relevant technical details.
- Include all relevant links - GitHub/source, documentation, releases, demo videos, screenshots, etc. If it's closed source, explain why.
- It must be Plex related - tools, scripts, apps, integrations, configs, hardware setups, anything directly tied to your Plex experience.
Tips for a Good Post
- Describe the problem you were solving, not just what you built
- Include screenshots, config snippets, or a short demo if possible
- Share what worked, what didn't, and what you'd do differently
- Mention the tech stack / language / dependencies
- If it's a script or tool, show a sample of the output or usage
Example Post Format

**What it does:**
A few sentences describing what the project does and the problem it solves.
**AI Disclosure:**
If you used AI, explain how you used it, and how much AI was used, where, what tools etc.
If you did not use AI, state this clearly.

Sennachie for Plex: a free Android music and audiobook player
What it does:
A small Android client for personal Plex libraries, built around audiobook resume/skip-back, offline listening, and the ability to play an album or single-track on repeat. It uses your own Plex server only.
AI disclosure:
AI assistance was used during both development and debugging. I set the scope, tested the app against my own Plex server and GrapheneOS Pixel, and reviewed what shipped. There is no AI, tracking or advertising in the app itself.
Technical overview:
Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Media3; Plex device-link sign-in; GPLv3-or-later.

**Project:** Nostalgex: a free Apple TV app that turns your Plex library into retro cable channels
**What it does:**
I missed flipping channels and landing in the middle of something, instead of scrolling a grid for twenty minutes. Nostalgex takes your own Plex library and builds 131 channels in 14 bundles, plus a channel for every film series you own, all playing on a set daily schedule with a retro guide you can surf. Version 1.0.26 added franchise channels, which now pull in TV shows too. It also works with Jellyfin and Emby, and there's a free web tuner and a Docker container for running it on your own server.
**AI Disclosure:**
[Yes, AI was used heavily. I'm a product designer, not a career developer, so most of the code was written with Claude (via Cursor) from my specs, and I used AI to help with docs and marketing copy. The design, channel lineups, features and every decision are mine. I review the changes, test every build on my own Apple TV and servers before release, and the full source is public on GitHub so anyone can check it.]
**Technical Overview:**
The Apple TV app is native Swift for tvOS 18 or newer. It signs in through plex.tv/link and talks directly to your Plex server; your media never passes through my servers. The web tuner is static HTML and JavaScript, and the Docker container is a small nginx image (amd64 and arm64) that serves it on port 8080. Open source under MIT.

**Project:** Tautulli for Pebble: see what's playing on your Plex server and stop streams from a Pebble Time 2 smartwatch
**What it does:**
Yes, Pebble is back (Core Devices relaunched it, the Pebble Time 2 is out). I wanted to glance at my wrist and see who is watching what on my Plex server, and to stop a stream at bedtime without getting my phone out. So I built a watch app that uses Tautulli.
On the watch:
- Now playing: user, title/episode, progress bar, device, quality (Direct Play / Transcode), bandwidth, LAN/WAN
- Stop a stream: red stop button next to the SELECT key, with a confirmation screen. The viewer gets a short message. Needs Plex Pass, like stopping streams in Tautulli itself.
- History (everything or per user), recently added, users (last seen, watch time), libraries (counts)
- Statistics: watch time today / 7 / 30 days, top users, top movies and shows
- Chart: plays per day for the last 7 or 30 days, split into shows, movies, music
- English and German, plus a demo mode with made-up data so you can try it without a server
**AI Disclosure:**
Yes, heavily. Claude (Anthropic) wrote most of the code: the C watch app, the JavaScript phone part, the demo data and the README. I decided what the app should do and how it should look, tested every version on my own Pebble Time 2 against my own Tautulli/Plex server, and reported bugs back until things worked. Publishing, the GitHub repo and the appstore listing I did myself. The code is MIT licensed, so anyone can review it.
**Technical Overview:**
- Watch: C with the Pebble SDK (lists, detail view, stop button with confirmation, bar chart drawn on the watch)
- Phone: PebbleKit JS (plain ES5) running inside the Pebble app. It calls the Tautulli API v2 and sends ready-made text to the watch via AppMessage. The watch never talks to the network itself.
- Tautulli commands used: server_status, get_activity, get_history, get_recently_added, get_home_stats, get_users_table, get_libraries_table, get_plays_by_date, terminate_session
- Settings page (Tautulli address, API key, language) via Clay in the Pebble app. The API key stays in the app settings on your phone. No other servers, no tracking.
- Dependencies: Tautulli next to your Plex server. A local address works on home Wi-Fi; for use on the go you need a reverse proxy.
- GitHub Actions builds the .pbw and attaches it to every release.
What didn't work at first: the Pebble emulator's JavaScript engine has no localeCompare, so the libraries list hung on "Loading" until that was replaced. And the settings page refused "demo" because the address field was an HTML url input.

**Project:** Cinemetric: Claude Code skills that give you plain-English reports on your Plex server
**What it does:**
Cinemetric is a plugin for Claude Coistant) that lets you ask questionsabout your Plex server in normal language and get a readable report back. Things like "Give me a Plex
library report", "How's my Plex servhed this month?" or "Build my Plexdashboard".
It covers:
- **Library report:** item counts, storage used, 4K/1080p and codec breakdowns, 10-bit video, recently
added, plus housekeeping (unmatched ilable files, very large files)
- **Server health:** version and available updates, remote access status, CPU/memory, who's streaming
right now (direct play vs transcode,, scan freshness, scheduledmaintenance
- **Watch activity:** plays and watcmost active users and devices, dailytrends. Uses Tautulli if you have it, otherwise Plex's own history
- **Dashboard:** one page with chart saved locally, as a privateclaude.ai page, or both
Everything is **read-only**. It never changes anything on your server.
The problem it solves: Plex has a lot of useful info, but it's spread across settings pages, XML endpoints and Tautulli. I wanted to up?" and get an answer.
**AI Disclosure:**
AI was used heavily, in two ways:
- **Building it:** I wrote the code with Claude Code (Claude Opus). I planned each feature as a
written spec (using OpenSpec) and re on my own server, but most of thecode itself was written by the AI. Commits are co-authored with Claude in the git history.
- **Running it:** The plugin itselfs collect the actual numbers fromPlex/Tautulli, and then Claude reads that data and writes the report. That means **the AI can make
mistakes** when summarizing, so doubn Plex before you delete or re-encode files. There's a warning about this in the README too.
**Technical Overview:**
- Claude Code plugin made of "skillsude follows) plus Python 3.8+ scripts using only the standard library, so there's nothing to pip install
- Talks to Plex's HTTP API directly ded); Tautulli's API is optional
- Setup uses **Sign in with Plex**, so you never paste your token into the chat. The token is saved to
a local config file only your user c up under Settings → AuthorizedDevices in Plex, where you can revoke it any time
- Works on Linux, macOS and Windows
- Requires Claude Code (which needs an Anthropic account/subscription)
- Early development: expect things t
Install in Claude Code:
/plugin marketplace add jeremeha
/plugin install cinemetric@cinemetric
**Links:**
- Source: https://github.com/jeremeh
- Docs / README: https://github.com/jeremehancock/cinemetric#readme
- Website: https://cinemetric.dev
- Screenshots / Demo: https://cinemetric.dev/screens/dashboard.jpg
A few things worth checking before you post:
- No em dashes. The template has one after the project name ("[Name] — [description]"). I used a colon
instead, following your usual pref't mind.
- AI disclosure wording. Every one of the 34 commits is co-authored with Claude, so I described AI use
as "heavy." Only you know how much, so adjust that part if itundersells your work.
- No releases. The repo has no GitHu"Release / Download" and put theinstall commands in the post instead.
- Duplicates feature left out. Your etection (version 0.5.0), but thatisn't committed or pushed yet. Once it's live, you can add "duplicates" to the library report bullet.
- Screenshot link. I assumed the dashboard image is served at cinemetric.dev/screens/dashboard.jpg, based on the website/screens/ fold it loads.

I built a Docker app that exports Plex's EPG data to standard XMLTV
I wanted to use the guide data Plex already has outside of Plex without maintaining another EPG provider, so I built Plex EPG → XMLTV.
It runs in Docker and can pull guide data from:
- an Existing Plex DVR
- Plex EPG Zipcode lineup data
It then exports a standard plex-epg.xml that can be used with software that accepts XMLTV.
It also includes:
- Web-based setup wizard
- Dracula-themed dashboard
- M3U-to-guide channel matching
channel_map.csvlineup_matches.csv- configurable XMLTV IDs by callsign/channel number/Plex ID
- live EPG refresh logs
- manual and scheduled guide refreshes
- PUID/PGID support
- Portainer/Docker Compose support
I originally built it because I needed Plex's guide data for my own IPTV/M3U setup and couldn't find a clean way to export it.
GitHub:
https://github.com/lamb0985/plex-epg
Docker:
lamb0985/plex-epg:latest
Feedback and testing are welcome, especially from people using Plex with Dispatcharr, Threadfin, xTeVe, HDHomeRun, or other XMLTV-based setups.
AI assistance disclosure: ChatGPT was used during development for code review, debugging, documentation, and parts of implementation. The project has been tested and maintained by me.

Project: Keep – let your Plex users protect titles before Maintainerr removes them
I built Keep to give the people using my Plex server a way to say “I still want to watch that” before automated cleanup removes a movie or show. It’s completely free and open source.
Keep works alongside Plex and Maintainerr. Maintainerr handles the cleanup rules, and Keep gives your users a simple way to see what’s leaving and protect something they still want to watch.
What it does:
- Shows titles from your selected Maintainerr collections, with the time remaining before possible removal
- Lets authorized Plex users sign in and keep a title for 30 days, or indefinitely if the server owner enables that option
- Shows protected titles on a Kept page, including who kept them and when protection expires
- Includes a Library Management page for managing media through Radarr and Sonarr
- Works on desktop and mobile, with light and dark modes
Removing a Keep removes its protection; it doesn’t delete the media. Library Management is a separate feature with its own permissions and deletion confirmation.
Technical overview:
Keep is built with Python and Flask, with a web app and background worker running in Docker. The core setup uses Plex, Maintainerr, Docker with Compose v2, and Python 3.9+ for the installer. Setup finishes in your browser. Integrations with Radarr, Sonarr, Seerr, Tautulli, email, and Pushover are optional.
AI disclosure:
I designed Keep and used OpenAI Codex to write almost all of the code.

IINA Plex Sync
I made a free IINA plugin that keeps Plex watch progress and watched status updated when you play local files.
Features
- Sign in with Plex and select your server
- Sync playback progress and mark watched automatically
- Optional movable status overlay
- Shortcuts to hide the overlay or pause syncing
My setup: IINA 1.5.0 on macOS 15.7.
AI disclosure: Most code was written with AI through Cursor and Codex. I directed the features and tested it with my own library. AI also helped draft this post.
It is a JavaScript plugin using IINA's plugin API and Plex's HTTP API. Free and open source under MIT.
Would appreciate feedback from other setups, especially any matching or syncing problems.

Project: Drift — an iOS/iPadOS music player that plays your Plex music library beside your own files
What it does: Drift is a player for people who own their music: FLAC, ALAC, WavPack, APE, Opus and the rest, played natively, files never rewritten, and a playing screen with no buttons (tap to pause, swipe to change song). A collection rarely lives in one place, so 4.0 puts every library on one page as a card. One of those cards is Plex, in beta: sign in with the plex.tv PIN, browse artists, albums, songs and playlists, stream at home or away, download albums for offline. Same playing screen, widgets, CarPlay and EQ as for local files.
Beta because it's tested against my own server, not the long tail of setups. One known issue: two files in my library fail with a -1005 network error on first play. The app has a diagnostics log you can send me.
AI Disclosure: Yes. Drift is written with AI assistance throughout: Claude Code drafts and reviews code, writes tests and helps debug, under my direction. Design, architecture and every release are mine, and nothing ships before it has run on my devices and through the test suite. No AI runs inside the app: no recommendations, no cloud, no telemetry. Technical
Technical Overview: Swift, SwiftUI and SwiftData, iOS 17+. Dual Audio engine setup, audio decoding for the non-Apple formats is through drift's own engine.
Closed source: it's a paid app and my living. Seven days of everything, then a single purchase; no subscription, no account.
