Meta Affiliate Link Ban

Starting today, affiliate links are banned. Comments containing them will be automatically removed. The decision to allow them was made back when this was a tiny sub; we've since ballooned in size, there's been a noticeable uptick in users posting affiliate links (and in mass amounts, at that), and the rule was always on shaky ground due to both arbitrary enforcement (what dictates a "worthy" comment vs. a comment fishing for affiliate money?) and general principle.

If you've posted affiliate links in the past, you're not in trouble retroactively or otherwise. Comments containing affiliate links should, from now on, be automatically removed; no other action will be taken beyond automatic comment removal unless absolutely necessary.

Denmark Need an opinion on whether to switch phones or not

Hello all you lovely people in this sub. I currently have a OnePlus 12 and I'm pretty happy with it, except for the batter, which is down to 87% battery life and isn't lasting a full day anymore. I know I could replace the battery and the phone would work completely fine. The other option I'm considering is getting an oppo find x9 pro, which I can find for around 800 euros. The battery alone seems amazing and I understand the upgrade in the other specs wouldn't be that huge in general.

My thoughts are with the phone prices going through the roof and no good news insight, my thoughts that it wouldn't be possible to get a deal like this in a couple of years. So I should trade in while the phone still has some value(around 200 euros hopefully) and for net 600 euros I can get a new phone that will last 3 extra years. What are y'all's thoughts on it ? Sorry if I rambled on too much

Edit I'm located in Denmark

First Android phone after years on iPhone, is the OPPO Find X10 a good choice?

I've been using iPhones for years, but I'm thinking about switching to Android for my next phone. The OPPO Find X10 has caught my attention, and I'm wondering if it would be a good first Android phone or if I'm overlooking some obvious drawbacks.

I'm not unhappy with my iPhone, exactly. But after using it for so long, I kind of want to try something different instead of automatically buying another iPhone.

The main reason I'm considering the Find X10 is the camera. The high-resolution main and telephoto cameras sound promising.

Battery life is another thing I care about. I'd like a phone that comfortably lasts a full day, even when I'm taking lots of photos, using maps, and browsing social media. Good charging speeds would be a nice bonus, too.

My biggest concern is actually the switch from iOS to Android. I've been in the Apple ecosystem for a while, so I'm wondering how much of an adjustment it would be. I'm not particularly interested in customizing every little thing, but I do like the idea of having more freedom over how my phone works.

I haven't made up my mind yet, and I'm not necessarily set on OPPO. I'm open to other Android phones if there's a better option for someone coming from an iPhone, especially if the camera is a priority.

I'd appreciate honest opinions, including reasons why you wouldn't recommend it.Thanks!

Canada Phone vs Tablet (and what brand?)

Admittedly my father is an Apple fan boy so I’ve been completely immersed in the Apple ecosystem my whole life, but I’m kinda at the point now that I’m starting to feel the need to explore options.

I wanted a secondary device to use in tandem with my main iPhone that will give me a good idea if swapping to Android would be a worth while experience.

I was thinking about looking into a tablet as I could use that in with my Linux pc as a drawing tablet or possibly an extra display. But I’m also worried that Android tablets suffer from the same problems iPads do (being stuck in that weird inbetween of phones and laptops) and would benefit me for getting an actual phone.

Any advice?

Edit: I’m from Canada

Honor 600 vs S24 base exynos model

I can pick either of this phones for almost same price. The S24 is used, 350 battery cycles, while honor has 1 month of use, aka almost new. Both 8GB RAM/256GB storage, S24 is exynos variant

Which one would be a better deal, mostly considering longterm

I know S24 battery is at best adequate, question for people who have one is does it last one day with moderate use, lets say 6-7 hours of screen time? The battery is probably my biggest concern for S24. Although I think replacing battery on S24 is somewhat unavoidable in longterm.

Best Phone to buy during sale?

Looking to upgrade during the Flipkart sale. Budget is ₹30k, can stretch a little if it’s worth it. I play BGMI for a couple of hours most days and also use the phone for college work, so it multitasks a lot.

My last phone started heating and dropping frames within a year, so that is my biggest worry. Camera matters less to me.

Shortlist right now: realme P4s, Vivo T5 and Moto Edge 70 Fusion

Has anyone used the P4s for gaming over a few weeks? Does it stay stable or throttle? Open to other suggestions in this range. Context: I am Indian!

Bangladesh HELP PLEASE 😭

HELP

I've been trying to decide on one phone for 20 days now and I still have no fucking clue what to get

I was running the pixel 6 pro till now(it got hit with a pink line after ~5 years)

Two things that bothered me about it are connectivity and battery life

About me: I don't play games on my phone, my most used apps are chrome, Whatsapp, insta, messenger, discord and Twitter. I don't take a lot of pictures of myself, just a few group pics here and there when I'm out with friends/on a date.

I just want to pick a phone that I'll be able to use for 3-4 years without worry about it lagging/connectivity and not have to carry a powerbank around with me to keep it alive

I was currently looking at the Redmi K90, vivo s50 pro mini and realme GT8 but... I just don't know atp 🥲

I'm from Bangladesh if that's important (idk but automod told me to add it)

Throwing out the old Galaxy S9...

Help me pick a phone! As someone that is still on an S9, you can probably guess I'm generally not a phone person. My only real priorities are:

  • I can use banking apps for at least the next 5 years (this is the only reason I'm getting rid of my S9)
  • decent battery life
  • small size

I'm overwhelmed with the amount of options out there and as someone that has never paid attention to phones, I don't know where to start. All I know is I like the Android UX better than Apple. Right now I'm looking at old models like Pixel 8a, S23 since I don't see the point in spending a lot of money on a new phone when I'm barely going to use it.

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Poland Phone to repleace Huawei P30 pro

Hello everyone,

I currently own a Huawei P30 Pro, but it’s nearing the end of its lifespan. It was a great phone for its time, but it’s time for a change due to noticeable battery drain and the fact that it hasn’t been supported for some time now.

While looking for a new phone, I’ve set a budget of around 1,100–1,200 euros. After reading many reviews and opinions from other users, I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t know which phone would combine all the features I’m looking for without overpaying.

Based on my experience with my current phone, my requirements are:

- a large battery that can easily last a full day and then some (my average screen time is 4 hours)

- good performance for everyday use (I don’t play many games on my phone, but I do occasionally)

- a camera that’s at least as good as the one on the Huawei P30 Pro (I don’t take a million photos; mostly just simple snapshots of everyday life and some on trips)

- support for at least 4 years, preferably 5

- Decent speakers

- The operating system shouldn’t be cluttered with junk (I’m open-minded, but I’ve heard about—and seen with my own eyes—millions of ads in Xiaomi systems, which puts me off, because I’m not buying a phone just to have ads on it)

- Visually, I like the OnePlus models and the Oppo Find X; huge camera lenses that take up half the back aren’t aesthetically pleasing to me

- Screen size: 6.7–6.8 inches maximum

I was planning to buy a Find X9 Pro, but right now, getting the global/European version at a reasonable price is practically impossible, especially in Poland (the Czech company that used to offer good prices no longer ships to Poland). I’m even open to importing the phone from China, as long as it’s the global version.

Switching from iPhone - which brands to look into?

I currently have an iPhone 13, I'm planning on getting a new phone this year and was looking to go back to android.

I'm mostly looking for a trustworthy camera, one I can just point and shoot and I know it will take a good photo. I really like that on the iPhone, I remember on my previous Xiaomi phone it wasn't that trustworthy, they often looked weird.

I also really value a smooth and polished OS, I remember MI UI was a bit funky at times 4/5 years ago.

Lastly, I need a good battery, at least a full 12h day. Screen time is usually around 5/6h. But mostly for when I go hiking, I need a battery that will last the whole hike.

Regarding budget, I really didn't want to go more than 550€. Ideally around 450-500€.

TLDR: Good camera processing (not necessarily megapixels), good, smooth, consistent and trustworthy OS, good battery.

What brands should I look at?

- Google Pixel I can only get Pixel 10a and maybe Pixel 10 (last year's model I think?)

- Samsung I've never been a huge fan but could give a last chance-

- Xiaomi? Are their cameras/OS improved nowadays?

Thanks in advance :)

Looking for an android phone

Hi all! I currently have a xiaomi poco F3, but have had it for 5 years and now looking for a new phone, no idea where to look though.

I'm mainly looking for just a reliable phone, that performs well, and with which I can't do a lot wrong. I dont really have a desire to play high-level games, or the camera doesn't need to be the best one ever. Nevertheless I'd still like it to perform decently well in these regards. I know it's somewhat generic, but thus I was wondering if there's a phone who's kindof agreed to be well-rounded for this purpose.

Budget is around 500 euros. If really necessary, can be a bit more, otherwise if this can be achieved with a lower budget, evidently this would be even better.

In any case, thanks for any input!
