Blatant cheats are not detected, so what about soft cheats?

I was a logi/Fob player but as I engage in more Hotzone fights in this game, the more potential hackers I see. There are blatant chinese hackers almost every match in Eu south/central, but there are also many sus closet cheaters. Sometimes I die to 4 headshots from 300meters with an AL while I'm hiding in a bush, I open the score board and my opponent isn't running 15-0 of something.

I saw on tiktok people forcing Potato graphics on high end systems, this is just cheating too, it removes almost all of the foliage.

This game is becoming counter strike 2, the amounts of cheaters makes you suspect every death even to legit players

Unfortunately when cheating is widespread, it becomes part of the psychology of legitimate players.

Every death, including the legit ones, raises doubts.

Especially in a game like this where concealment and positioning are so important.

I live in California so I naturally play west coast servers. And it feels brutally competitive. If I’m not in a hard concealment like a rock, brick wall, etc. my position seems to be very obvious.

However, I switched over to central servers recently to get out of the NA West swamp, and I find it a lot less stressful to maneuver through the map now.

It wasn’t very apparent how common hacks were on the NA West server until I switched. And that gives me a whole different perspective on the regions community(IYKYK).

Everyone complains about the Chinese, but the west coast incels have quite a similar level of cheaters-per-capita. Most of them are just in the closet about it.

US West Servers in FPS games are usually the sweatiest as US West players are generally better than other regions per capital. Usually much less cheaters than US East though overall.

I haven’t played on east coast so I don’t know for a fact what the cheaters are like there. But after switching to central servers the amounts of “sus-ness” has significantly decreased.

NA West server’s are now 60-70% people with 150+ ping, and I wish I was joking. But every match I play in NA West now I check everyone’s ping. And it is in fact mostly people over seas. I’m not sure if that means more cheaters, but the coincidence is there

This is the problem. Because it forces players who care or want to be competitive to either cheat as well, or quit. Personally I'll never cheat, but Being a no-lifer who has played FPS for a very long time, there is absolutely a lot of cheaters. The problem for me is, it's become so prevalent It's hard to tell a cheater from just good play. To me, that's the crux, because I'm ok with dieing to someone who makes a good play, it inspires me to KEEP playing the game to learn and improve. But If something is obviously cheating or I have to even question every other death, it's demoralizing and exhausting.,

ive just watched blatant cheating by well known names in streaming. a whole group of them going 50 to 6 kd. i reported them but it just feels like the devs have lost control of the situation completely.

3

u/JobPsychological4896 14h ago

Lots of popular streamers use some form of radar cheat in tarkov. They do it so they can always find people and get into fights consistently for their stream. Scummy stuff, Im sure they’re doing it in this game too.

u/Marnthebreaker 11h ago

even non streamer friend groups can easily have one guy just ESPing and giving out the locations to his friends or like share his screen in discord call

if they arent in the same squad the game wont even know they are related to each other as long they dont share the same lobby all the time

1

u/supershott 7h ago

This. Lots of times the big squads that roll everyone else have someone with ESP feeding intel.

The Stans will say "it's good game sense" when a streamer looks or reacts to something they shouldn't or prepares for a person they couldn't know was coming.

Millions of dollars on offer, why wouldn't they cheat.

I have found that I am dying from people who literally jump around a corner and seem to know that I am there?  I know there is the spotting which is part of the game and I know about peekers advantage but even considering those I feel like these immediate jump around corner and 1 tap deaths before I can even see the barrel of the gun that's killed me is suspect, anyone else feel like this?

u/Reasonable_Cupcake10 13h ago

Something similar happening to me lately, I notice one or two guys in opposing teams that are unkilllable and unflankable, you literally cannot win a duel against them even if you approach from awkward angles.

They don't seem to be blatantly cheating, from my own perspective I could never have proof they are cheating, but still the doubt is there. And I fear the doubt infested my perception because of the more common wave of blatant cheaters that seems to be neverending.

Had a guy yesterday drop from like 15 feet above me in a warehouse, I'd been waiting under a staircase for someone to try and capture/destroy our fob that was nearby. I was there long enough that any spot would have worn off and I wasn't seen going there. Dude drops down and mid fall beams me in the head twice, I said how suspect it was, he says it was process of elimination... The room was fucking massive I could've been in so many places but sure, "process of elimination"

u/Marnthebreaker 11h ago

cheaters always have answers ready if u call them out

1

u/FreeMasonKnight 5h ago

A guy made a post a week ago or so and took 30k kits and dropped or drove way outside the zone and walked a ton so they wouldn’t be spotted through tons of tree’s and bushes and then played down prone in bushes and like clockwork someone would “randomly” find them exactly where they were and kill them to take their kit. When they had free kits no one ever came to kill them though mysteriously.

I think there are alot of closet cheaters out there. Expesually esp hacking. I play mostly on South african servers in most shooter games which are usually community servers so hacking is not a big problem there. But a lot of the time it just feels that the people just know when to peak as im ressing or trying to flank from another position etc.

1

u/Ghostyfear 14h ago

What ESP means? I keep reading but have no clue what do you mean.

3

u/Nostriales 14h ago

ESP is an acronym that stands for extra sensory perception. In gaming it is a catch-all term for any cheat that gives you information about other players that would be impossible otherwise. Usually it’s wall hacks but can also refer to map hacks, information overlays, etc.

2

u/JobPsychological4896 14h ago

Radar/wall hack. Basically cheats to help you see where enemies are. It’s the most commonly used cheat, especially in the states. Lots of losers who think their not cheaters just because their not using an aimbot.

2

u/Bhi-saj 14h ago

Literal translation is “Extra-Sensory Perception”

It’s just a fancy way of saying wall hacks

1

u/Hail_fire 13h ago

Yeah my friends and I ran into an esp user the other day. Had stuff happen like multiple enemies run past positions we were hidden in only for this guy specifically to check that location. He wasn't invincible and he wasn't using aimbot but with a few players over the course of the match it became very clear he knew where everyone was.

Mistfall Goblins ez

Flying tanks bro it doesn’t get more blatant and those aren’t instant banned says alof about the incompetence of the devs

1

u/supershott 7h ago

And the magic bullet/rocket minibirds that don't even have to face remotely the correct direction to get instakills.

Even if they fix that kinda shit, I have a feeling this game will turn into ESP HvH.

u/Altruistic-Lunch1997 14h ago

If someones just turning their graphics all the way down then they're not cheating.

It's the developers duty to make the game fair at all graphics levels.

7

u/IIWhiteHawkII 14h ago

If you use actual configs that aren't reflected in game's front-end, then it's also cheating.

But yes, devs need to address both.

4

u/Altruistic-Lunch1997 14h ago

Agreed. The devs are doing a piss poor job at cheat detection and region management.

1

u/GumGun3000 14h ago

they have outsourced the anti cheat. which says they are banning 13-20k player A DAY.

1

u/jimmykimnel 14h ago

I guess they would say that, I wonder how they back it up to prove it's correct?

u/wtfaatp 12h ago

Okay but potato mode is an in-game graphical preset. People are mixing up potato mode and modded .in files.

2

u/popeinn 14h ago

This game has no chance in detecting when I access the RAM, check for memory leaks, overlay a Map onto my second monitor and display a Map with everything my tool can read for the allocated memory. Not that I ever do that while playing but my private tests were very successful. Considering the insane amount and complexitiy of cheats the past days: This game is dying from it. People have flying APCs and Cars, cant take too long for the first tank, we have a new mortar camera that lets cheaters view the map from above the entire time + auto aim. So basically you move the camera where you want and the mortar is automatically adjusted allowing for perfect aim and shot every time while having a livefeed. Its insanity.

u/Street_Fighter_X 14h ago

Duo mode wann?

1

u/A_Tortured_Crab 14h ago

I noticed a guy sitting in our base hiding in a bush spamming punch. At the end of the match he had bunch of kills and tons of assists, zero deaths and made tons of money. From a bush in spawn.

1

u/Obtuse_Rhythm 14h ago

Reminds me of the old Battlefield days. There was/is a hack tool that lets you have ALL enemies in one single spot you designate but to the enemies, they're juts playing normally but to the cheater they're all in one spot so he can just kill a whole lot of people even if he's 10000 meters away.

1

u/Geordi87 7h ago

i forget what anticheat did this, but there is an anticheat that screenshots players screens and sends it to moderators so they can look and verify if the player is legit or not.

I'm sure in the age of AI, these screenshots can be scanned by an ai agent en masse and the ones that ai detects as sus can be forwarded to a human admin to verify and act accordingly.

1

u/CopBaiter 5h ago

Because they get banned in waves. Its the best Way to do it. Otherwise the cheat makers Will just patch it

1

u/poliuy 4h ago

I hate begin at a disadvantage just because I wanted the game to look nice :/

1

u/ODthrwwy 15h ago

i think all cheaters is cheaters why we need to separate soft and hard ?

2

u/Tunisian-gamer 14h ago

Blatant cheaters are obvious, and should be insta banned. Closet cheaters act as if they are not and try to hide it. They are the real nuisance to online video games.

This game is not detecting full aimbots, the soft cheats are probably rampant

1

u/supershott 7h ago

I agree, cheater is a cheater. The problem is the uninformed playerbase might see a ragehacker and think, "there's a cheater." But lots of people will overlook the players that are "soft" or "closet" cheating. We should know about them too, and we should know that they're even worse than ragehackers. Because a closet cheater is just a ragehacker that learned their lessons to avoid being detected.

1

u/EthereumProjects 14h ago

stopped playing 2 days ago. cheating is increasing and i don't care what other say.
S1 i would encounter 1 in like every 2 or 3 games but now it's just a fuckfest of cheating.

Turning all graphics down, editing files etc... is fine. really fuck these devs that don't care at all about fair gameplay.

0

u/Street_Fighter_X 14h ago

Don't worry GTA6 will safe you

-4

u/GingerSnapBiscuit 14h ago

Forcing potato graphics is not cheating, not even soft cheating. Using built in features of the game as they were designed to be used isn't cheating.

7

u/Akkevor 14h ago

"Forcing potato graphics" - if you have to enable it via anything other than the in game menu, then its soft cheating at minimum surely

5

u/Obtuse_Rhythm 14h ago

Agreed. Editing the config file nested in the install directory of the game should be grounds for exploiting the game. That said, the devs need to make the file read-only by the game's exe.

1

u/GingerSnapBiscuit 13h ago

Editing a config file for graphics levels has been a thing in pc gaming forever. The devs can remove this as an option from the game via the code if they don't want that to be possible.

1

u/Civil-Lawfulness9757 13h ago

So let's see... you went into a file that isn't allowed in the game to change code to give yourself an advantage. You think this isn't cheating how exactly?

1

u/Kielbasatron 12h ago

Stop living in 2010, not everything can be removed as an option by devs in modern days.
Even CEO sees the issue but he can’t do much about it and has to ask nicely
