Star Wars: A Russian Military Satellite Gets Very, Very Close To One Used By Ukraine.

A month after five military satellites were launched from Russia's Plesetsk facility, they were reported maneuvering in ways that would potentially intercept a US-registered, Finnish-operated satellite that provides intelligence to Ukraine.

Shortly after midnight on October 18, roughly 1,000 kilometers above the Earth’s surface, a Russian military satellite known as Kosmos-2612 did something highly unusual.

It moved close to another satellite -- one registered in the United States, operated by a Finnish company, and providing intelligence to Ukraine, among others.

How close?

By several estimates, 200 meters. Maybe less.

"This is provocative. But I view it as typical of the kind of things that Russia does all the time."

The incident has grabbed attention -- from amateur satellite watchers and commercial companies, not to mention Western intelligence agencies -- in a way not seen in a long time.

Trump says amid Paris riots: 'Migrants have taken over France,' 'close the borders fast'.

Trump calls on France to close the borders as prime minister blames 'ultra-left radical groups'.

President Donald Trump weighs in on Paris and France rioting and unrest from ultra-left radical groups amid violent demonstrations and hotly contested elections, pointing to the dangers of open borders and warning about socialist policies.

President Donald Trump is calling out open border policies as looting and protests leave nearly 1,000 French police officers injured and about 2,400 people arrested.

“The migrants have taken over France,” Trump wrote Monday in a Truth Social post. “They must CLOSE THE BORDERS, FAST!”

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said local authorities should impose targeted curfews to restore order but ruled out a blanket curfew in Paris.

“My determination to restore order is absolute,” Lecornu said, while blaming "ultra-left radical groups" for seeking to create “profound unrest” ahead of France’s presidential election.

Left-wing leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon challenged Lecornu to provide evidence, saying the prime minister should “apologize, keep quiet and stop fanning the flames of unrest.”
