i turned 18 last week and i found this

my mom gave me this letter for my 18th brithday, and it was a letter that i wrote to myself 12 years ago in first grade

my birthday present from myself from more than a decade ago from where the hardest challenges in life were fighting imaginary monsters and open lollipops (which I still struggle to do to this day)

i'm searching for a job trying to finish school and i will go live with my dad in a month or so because me and my mom got evicted from the house that my dad still owns after the divorce

in the last 5 years i fought the death of my 2 grandparents the divorce of my parents depression and addiction but this letter made me think about when my brother in 5th grade told me how difficult school was gonna be since i couldn't sleep like i used to do in kindergarden

i'm barely an adult and not even fully functional and somehow i feel like i don't even remember the person that wrote this letter anymore

p.s. here is the translation for those who don't speak italian

aeiou, the vowels say cucù (Italian nursery rhyme)

i remember writing this like some sort of novel, pages and pages long, i guess my perception of a deep talk changed a bit in the last decade
