When I retire, I want to roam the desert looking for thirsty armadillos and give them water 💧

Surely there was an easier way.

What the hell is easier than that?

Almost anything? We've got two people working on it and the animal is hoping to catch some drops as they fall through the air...

Sometimes you just have to stop and give an armadillo a drink. Nothing worse than a thirsty cingulata.

The only species of Armadillo that can cause Hansen's disease is the nine-banded armadillo. The many other species do not

This was true of armadillo species specifically in the United States but now even that is outdated. This is frequently cited as if it's global despite being country-specific and two decades old but this gives examples of other species in South America and this is a more recent update detailing leprosy-causing bacteria in Mexican long-nosed armadillo populations in Alabama.

Good fellas. Wish homie on the right was wearing gloves, just in case, though.

Also, I got into a heated argument with someone over my usage of the term leprosy. They claimed it was insensitive and had negating connotations. Suggested a new term that it goes by. We went back and forth for a few days, it was quite amusing

Gosh. Today I learned they have some hair.

They are a mammal, so yes, they do have hair.
They also really like bugs. Training them to come when called to get a mealworm off of feeding tongs was hilarious. Great ASMR.

A mere purveyor of canned cat food and gut loaded arthropods (after cleaning the litter box and sweeping the floor of their enclosure).

How do they see it's thirsty? There's some kind of thirsty-meter on its back slowly pulsing red?

I always wondered how some of these animals out there in normally dry areas are coping when there are even more severe droughts. It was be very taxing on them, if not fatal.
