Dude, he's two, I think I'll be okay.

The more you drill one skill, the scarier it gets. Bruce Lee really nailed the value of repetition.

But the baby not so much. I do suspect his parents will regret this by and by.

...but where does one find a gi dobak that tiny?!
Edit: used the wrong title

u/Jealous-Wall-9453 23h ago
You just keep shrinking a regular one in the washer until its the right size

u/Pandiosity_24601 21h ago
*dobak. With taekwondo being Korean, we say that. ‘Gi’ is Japanese

That tiny dobak has to be custom made because there’s no way they sell one that small 😂

I would die for that baby even though he'd probably be able to better defend himself than I could🥹🥹🥹

Beware, I said a similar thing on a different sub and I got banned for seven days for promoting violence. Apparently that's a violation of a rule.

Good luck! I got my ass kicked by him yesterday when I tried to be as brave (or rather cocky) as you are!

Adorable and impressive but I doubt he’s one. Maybe 2ish.

You can be 23 months and 29 days old and still be 1.

You're 1 until you're 2, that's how it works

He's closer to 2 than he is to 1. That is a fact.

This is indeed why we measure baby age in months up to age 2.
10
u/Cloverose2 1d ago
Yep, massive developmental difference between a 12 month old and an 18 month old.
16
u/Little_Consequence 22h ago
I feel like he'd have better balance if he was 2. He looks like he learned to walk last week 😂

Parent specifically states child is 1.
Redditor: “Nah, that baby isn’t one. I can tell from this brief clip that the child must be 2.”
Why is it every time there’s a video of a someone doing something cool, someone in the comments has to be like “here’s why that’s actually not the case.”?

The video cuts off before the man takes his turn at the pad, launching the child across the room.

So when a toddler does it, it's cute, and awesome. But when I, a grown fat man does it, it's sad and pathetic. I see how it do be.

u/pezgirl247 9h ago
as long as you’re out there practicing in the appropriate place, i’m rooting for you.

Man I hope I don’t end up down a dark alley with him, I can’t tell the homies I got messed up by a 1 year old taekwondo master 😭😭😭

u/though- 1d ago
How “1 year old” is he? 12 months? 23 months? Kids develop like crazy that year. A 12-month old boy can barely walk without plopping.
12
u/baffledninja 23h ago
For reference, my toddler is 22 months and more solid on her feet than this little guy. So I'd guess about 18-20 months.
... I need to get my daughter a gi just for the cuteness

u/though- 22h ago
Girls develop faster than boys too, on average. They walk sooner, talk sooner, draw, write and read sooner than boys on average.
1
u/SharpshootinTearaway 18h ago
Girls talking, drawing, and being potty-trained sooner is not a big surprise, but I wouldn't have thought that it would extend to motor skills like walking, finding balance, throwing, aiming, etc... when boys are usually thought to quickly be more developed than girls in these areas.

I didn't even know that one-year-olds could walk by the way. (I'm not a parent and I don't remember when I was one.)
2
u/baffledninja 23h ago
My daughter took her first steps at 11 months, and my son on his first birthday. They are definitely quick little buggers once they get their balance sorted.

My brother was up at 7 months I was up at 9 months, skiing at 16 months and 18 months.

u/DefiantGibbon 22h ago
I highly doubt this kid is 12 months.
15 months I'd agree
But that's literally 3 months later! That's basically 1 year!
At that age, you see a big development difference every 2 weeks. 12 to 15 months is two different children.
1
u/Omnamashivaaya 54m ago
Some people say their child is one for a year, so my guess is this kid is closer to 24 months than 12

For a small kid like that, he has a good balance. Able to kick a few times without fall.

The head of my TKD's dojang has a 1 year old who kicks exactly like this. It's adorable.

I'm not that impressed tbh...

Then fight the lil guy in the mat, no refs, no rules, no chickening out.

What's the over / under on 1 year old? I know some gambling sight is already running the odds for a bet.

They're really turning a little kid into a killing machine, huh? Guess I'm staying home today. Wouldn't want to be caught by that kick.

Ooh the tiny fury! Ooh noooooo!! Everybody run away but not too fast because he can't be left alone and still needs to have a nap when this is done! Oooh nooooo!! The tiny fury!

I’m not impressed. His technique is sloppy
1
u/pezgirl247 8h ago
for 1yr old? his technique is fantastic. keep in mind 1yr old at learning to stand and walk. balance itself is a feat. aim and kick is amazing.

He’s adorable but why put a one year in taekwondo?
2
u/baffledninja 23h ago
Probably has a sibling in that class and was already there and watching from the sidelines.

u/Aromatic-Turnip7371 1d ago
Probably so he can start early on a hobby and routine, learn some skills, gain confidence in himself, and to keep fit and active. It’s like swimming or any other activity I think. As long as it’s age appropriate and he’s loving it and having fun, then I think it’s good for him
1
u/Sufficient-Arm-4840 1h ago
I know a lot of people who put their kids in activities early if they not in day care. And also maybe the only child and doesn’t having cousins close by. So they use it to get the kid use to socializing and being around people and also following directions in a group setting.

Catch the kick, step in knee and reap. A good muay thai lesson
In all seriousness though, I don't understand how this can be impressive, yes he has good balance given the age, but tapping a pad with the foot is hardly a technique. Some will say he's only 1. OK? There's no cognitive connection as to why he's doing the move, just imitation.
