discussion Pretty rad that Ruger started doing this
This is my 3rd new Ruger firearm and I swear I didn't see this slip in either my LCP max or 10/22 box. Do any other manufacturers do this?

This is a highlighted megathread to help coördinate meetups and events for November, 2026.
At any given point, a megathread for the current and next month will be available for forward-looking planning.
(Please be wary that this is a public forum, know that there are various groups of people who target our communities, and practice good opsec. Be safe and have fun!)

After some mod discussion…
Posts about IWI guns, or accessories from Israeli manufacturers (or sometimes even posts about completely-unrelated topics!) quickly become a discussion of Israel/Palestine politics. There are plenty of more appropriate places to have those discussions on Al Gore's internet. Comments stronger than "I'll never buy IWI" will be removed, and users will potentially be banned after repeated offenses. Stick to talking about the guns.
This will be folded into the "topicality" rule in the near future, but this sticky post serves in the stead of that change.

I’ve had this Zastava M70 that has a factory “battle worn” cerakote finish for a while now and while I love how it shoots, my opinion has changed on its looks. Should I sell it and get one in regular black, or should I re-cerakote it/just spray paint it?

The Aimpoint COA is sick, but it’s my first enclosed optic aside from shooting a buddy’s acro a few times so I’m not an authority on the subject. I’m very happy with the 17.6 in general and the only thing I’ll be changing is a Tactical Trigger drop in kit. I have the performance trigger in the 19.4 I carry and wanted to try something different for the 17.
The Gideon pebble enclosed was kinda an impulse buy but seems pretty sweet so far, and the guy that installed it for my at my LGS carries one and says it’s been fine. What it does do is show off how impressive the COA is for the size.

Hello,
I recently got my CCW and have been seeing a lot of conflicting thoughts on whether or not you should run a weapons light on it. My gun has night sights already and since I already run a hand flashlight I feel it’s redundant.
Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts.

Shot 150 rounds out of 3 pistols and ended the day with 3 mags of 10 @5 yards with the defense load to see how I would shoot while fatigued. Pretty happy with grouping on a new gun while fatigued. Never shot such a small pistol before, definitely happy with it.

Disclaimer: I am new to cc in general so my experience is shallow in regards to comparing what’s ideal. I had tried appendix briefly with a Bradec holster and my body didn’t work as it just pressed into my pelvis and abdomen.
After trying out a Kydex holster with and without a mod wing/claw, I realized I wanted to try dedicated strong side carry holsters. Per the community, it seems like Black Arch Protos M/Heritage, Vedder Protuck and Muddy River Tactical were top choices. So I got all of them to try with my Sig P365XL.
I will be trying them all with my knockoff Kore ratchet belt from Tushi with jeans and slightly roomierw t shirt.
Things I thought were important:
at least 3/4 Kydex to safeguard the trigger and make sure the back flap didn’t just fall into the holster as well as for retention
Two clips for better weight distribution
Adjustable cant to have fbi cant
Decent concealment (I know it won’t be as good as appendix)
Muddy River Tactical:
Pros:
Adjustable cant and ride height. Thick sturdy leather backing. Full Kydex.
The clips are plastic and decent.
Retention is easy to adjust.
Suede back of the leather is comfortable on the skin.
Cons:
It’s a thick boy with the full kydex shell. I felt like I printed like crazy despite trying all configurations of 3:00-5:00
Felt like after I adjusted the cant by shifting one of the clips, my optic was hitting the belt.
Black Arch Heritage
Pros: Thinner as it’s only a 3/4 Kydex and the leather seems thinner (See pics).
Clips are decent but I bought DCC to switch it out.
Comes with a pretty aggressive cant by default.
Cons: I worry the leather at the top of the holster will flop after using it for a while.
Retention is via the trigger guard so there’s only so much you can loosen. I think after some repeat drawing from the holster, it’ll loosen up appropriately.
Vedder Protuck:
Pro: No leather backing, just bare full Kydex so it’s thin. The two “wings” are leather with the clips attached which hugs the body a little closer for me. Retention was perfect right from the start.
Con: Out of the three, it’s the least comfortable on bare skin since it’s just a kydex sweatguard. However, that’s not to say it’s not comfortable and adding an undershirt will help greatly.
First set of pics is with the Black Arch and then second set is with the ProTuck which definitely concealed better. I didn’t bother taking pics with the MRT one cause it was so thick.
Final thoughts: I am going with the ProTuck as it concealed the best and had the best retention feel. Going into this experiment, I thought I’d love the Black Arch heritage the most so the ProTuck was a surprise winner. Will need to wear perhaps an extra unbuttoned shirt to help hide it better. I might try the Certum4 at some point

I came across this gem of an article, heralding Michael Bloomberg as a "white knight" for the Democratic Party, with his late-cycle $80 million donation to the Democratic party cause. (Gift link below).
While I accept that money matters in elections, we would all do well to make sure fellow Democrats, liberals, leftists, etc. remember what Michael Bloomberg and his organizations are really all about.
TL;DR Michael Bloomberg is a racist jerk who funds gun control in furtherance of his racist views.
As mayor of NYC, Michael Bloomberg oversaw a vast, illegal expansion of Stop and Frisk. His police department failed to comply with court-ordered reporting laws, and when forced to reveal the statistics due to threats of litigation, it became apparent that he'd been using this law to terrorize communities of color through unconstitutional policing methods. (https://www.nyclu.org/report/stop-and-frisk-during-bloomberg-administration-2002-2013-2014)
To be clear, this racist policing strategy was not an accident, it was by design. He said so himself in a recorded speech. (https://www.npr.org/2020/02/11/804795405/throw-them-against-the-wall-and-frisk-them-bloomberg-s-2015-race-talk-stirs-deba)
Furthermore, Michael Bloomberg is a long-time supporter of Israeli hegemony, and has consistently risen to the defense of the IDF. He's gone so far as to say he'd never be willing to constrain military support, regardless of the circumstances. (https://www.news10.com/news/national/bloomberg-vows-steadfast-commitment-to-us-aid-for-israel/)
As the main article I linked at the top indicates, Bloomberg didn't just give Democrats $80 million over the last 30 days. A good portion of it was donated to his own advocacy nonprofits, which then use that money to influence public policy.
Specifically, the article states:
At least $50 million of Mr. Bloomberg’s latest spending is headed to House races, including $24 million to Everytown for Gun Safety, a group he co-founded that is focused on the House this year...
...This year, around the time of Mr. Bloomberg’s donations, Everytown and House Majority PAC said they were working together on a roughly $10 million ad campaign for eight female House Democratic candidates who have worked on gun safety activism.
While I am sure many/most people on this sub are familiar with the racist history of gun control in the US, I've found that many on the left have absolutely no idea that this is the case.
And importantly, gun control doesn't just have a racist history. It has a racist present. We need to help others on the left understand that when Everytown and Bloomberg's other organizations donate money, that this money is coming from someone with a deeply prejudicial history, both in his words and actions.
Because until the "mainstream left" realizes the source of this money, and the racist values of the man behind these donations, they will continue to support Everytown and its ilk.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading, and apologies for the novel. I've written this in the hopes that it provides solid, factual information that 2A-leftists can use in discussions with others, to help persuade them why we need to stop allowing organizations like Everytown to dominate Democratic politics.
Gift article (in case the link above doesn't work for some reason):

I still have a bit of a belly in a sort of chubby hourglass way. Because it is hard to find things that fit a waist 10 inches smaller than my hips and bum, I typically wear elastic-waistband bottoms. I am working towards losing some of the extra weight in my belly, but my husband and I have been training more and more and plan to set up a mini training course in our backyard. I would like some high-waisted tactical pants with some stretch and the round like gusset that I can run/jump/roll around in and won't get tears easily from branches or rocks. Any curvy ladies in here have insight on the following pants and if you feel they are high waisted enough but still fit comfy around your belly and bum? Or if you have suggestions other than the ones I am looking at here please let me know! I'm interested in the tactical leggings I have been seeing as they all have that awful front seam and I really am wanting tactical pants over leggings. The ones that came up on my search were:
-5.11 Stryke® Women's EMS Pant
-Howitzer Women's Scout Pant
- Born Primitive Women's Frontier Pant 2.0

This is honestly just my petty gripe of the day:
What is it with guntubers and holstering their pistol like they're trying to cover their dick when someone catches them jacking off. Is anyone else bothered by this phenomenon?
You watch a video that's all like "They're coming right for us! You gotta get the gun out there! Quick draw and slam that trigger! Par time this & that! We're training for dangerous situations!" Then the guy stuffs his gat back in his holster like his Ma caught him in the act.
I guess my issue here is two-fold. First, in what dangerous situation do you need to holster your pistol that quickly except for maybe switching back to your carbine? In which case why the fuck did you draw in the first place? I mean, in that hypothetical deadly encounter where you just capped Sasquatch outside Birger King, there's probably no strategic advantage to getting your gun away quickly. Probably better to keep it out in case his brother show up really. Second, that's the single most likely time you are going to blow a hole in your femoral artery. Calm your tits, slow down, and stop normalizing this speedy boi bullshit.
That's my TED Talk. I'm gonna get another scotch.

I bought a 5/8x24 muzzle brake and an adapter to it. I noticed it wasn't aligned properly AFTER I attached the muzzle brake and tried removing the adapter and the thing is so damn tight on the barrel it's not coming off. I tried wrapping it in a towel, tape, using lubricant and nothing. Does anyone have any idea how I can remove it?

I’m usually not one to worry about collectors value but the thoughts are creeping in on this one. I know it’s all generic AR bits but I’m still conflicted. What does everyone else think?
I’ll put more effort in to it then I did on the hi-point…

Does anyone have suggestions for shooting range ear protection made by a liberal company? I know this same question was posted about a year ago but just wanted to check for any updated information. I see Walker’s is a popular brand but they have so many MAGA, Trump, and Patriot themed options on Amazon that I can’t find it in me to support them.

Since we never got a STARS AR here's my take on one
The upper is a basic M4 carbine flat top since most police rifles in the 90s where basic M4 carbine type rifles
For the sight I went with a Bushnells Holo 400 since it came out in 1996 so could be feasibly that the RPD would issue them to the STARS Unit
