For anyone wondering, I'm pretty sure that the top ship is Old Ironsides, the USS Constitution, the oldest commissioned vessel still afloat.

The bottom is the USS Texas, the only surviving dreadnought.

Oh, the same one who intentionally floods one of his own compartments to gain a few degrees of elevation for the main gun to fire.

Except for the Bismarck, but its a shitty submarine now

All ships have the capability to become submarines at least once. The ships that were raised and rebuilt after Pearl Harbor have the most badass revenge arc in history.

The USS Nevada was fitted with the guns from the USS Arizona. Thats a level of find out that I dont think Japan was ready for.

Two ships signaling to each other:

HMS Battleaxe: "WHAT THE DEVIL IS A REUBEN JAMES?"

USS Reuben James: "AT LEAST WE DON'T NAME SHIPS FOR OUR MOTHER-IN-LAW."

This is incorrect, not all languages/cultures/navies use feminine terms for ships. It's universal in English but rather famously ships are masculine in Russian, and also were in the Soviet Union.

It's universal in English

And this thread is discussing ships of the United States Navy.

u/StreetofChimes 1h ago

Why are all ships female? Who made that rule?

3

u/i8laura 1h ago

The British navy, I’m guessing.

Because they were full of seamen and they were homophobic. /s

“Captain, they’re out of range!”

“Flood the ship.”
