Vent Sesh - No Advice Wanted Clutching my pearls
Halomy sandwich with zaatar and some vegetables...
Well I think FML, I still can't get the thing that happened out of my head, I work as a recruiter with a company, and I was trying to clear some of the older leads we had on the system, I started calling people around since the morning... It was a normal day mostly.
Until on noon when I called one of the newer leads, I was hearing some fumbling noises on the other end and I thought this person was busy, I was left with no answers to my hellos and questions on the phone until I started hearing moaning sounds, idk what were the noises at first then I asked him "sir are you busy I can call you in another time" after the question the moaning started getting louder.
This person was having sex while talking to me, tbh I felt sooo humiliated with this, specially that I have my own trauma with these type of stuff so idk if just triggered something in me..
I'm still shocked by it, I would look at my wall and start laughing like an idiot (I laugh when I'm uncomfortable) I think talking about it help even tho I have talked about it to my friends I need to get it out of my chest more lol
So yeah FML I guess never in a million years I thought this would ever happen with me
Edit here because I think I didn't make it clear at first: the guy responded at first to my call, I introduced myself and told him calling for X position, and asked if it's a good time to talk he said yes, then the noises started getting louder I kept saying hello? Can you hear me? If youre busy I can call later? Then the moaning got louder and I just hung up

GOOD. I'd probably call all other recruiters and warn them, too, as a little therapy for myself ('cause regular therapy is expensive af).
Wtf is that guy thinking - in THIS job market? And you had all his info even. The audacity on that one.

I used to work retail and there was a man who would call and ask you to look for a specific item and then do that in the middle of the conversation. I later found out he was notorious for it and called random stores around the state doing the exact same thing. Pervs. They get off because it's shocking and makes the person on the line so uncomfortable. I remember feeling the exact same way.

I’m messed up enough to recover fast enough to ruin that man’s entire day. I’m a huge fan of traumatizing them back but I do recognize not everyone is able or willing to act like that.

I have a response to the other person who asked with all my other tips. Most of this behavior is about power if you raptor screech into the phone repeatedly it will shock them back because they want you to be uncomfortable. My sister is very nice and doesn’t want to shut down men at the bar, I will raptor screech “go away” in their face.

Girl do you have any suggestions for this lmao? I use to have a childcare ads on this caretaking website and would get these calls CONSTANTLY- and they would get even more turned on when you were mean to them and would tell them they are disgusting… men are fucking grossss!!😭 but like I would love to hear if you have some things to weaponize back in the future if i ever decide to make it active again ahahah

If you are at a place where you work from home and you are not being recording for quality and accuracy like in corporate(very important). Drop your voice as many octaves as you can and bellow like a dramatic villain, make poop noises, basically attempt to sound as masculine and unappealing as possible. You can also do things like this in person with any man who approaches you in a way you are not comfortable with. I had a “smile sweetie” guy a work until my manager brought me an exploding blood pack and a tooth brush one night when I say that man NEVER asked me to smile again I absolutely mean it. And he never reported me.

I was never familiar with haloumi cheese when i was in the USA, but it is so popular in poland/europe when i moved here. I am amazed i have not had it before. My favorite is having it grilled and topped with some honey + sesame seeds. That salty/sweet combo works really well.
So you called this guy to talk to him, and he answered and was having sex at the same time when he answered? That's very unprofessional (and not really beneficial for him if looking for a job if he is serious). Did he speak with you before you heard moaning/sex sounds? I am lacking context of what happened before you heard this

Yeah, he answered I think he was having sex and and answered during the act, he picked the call I told him that I'm calling for X position and is it a good time to talk or not, he said yes it is and I wanted to ask him a few questions, then the noises got louder and when I asked about if he's busy I can call him later the moaning got louder...

The way I’d mark both his LinkedIn recruiter profile note section “do not contact, message [insert your ldap] for context. Do not engage.” And his candidate record in your ATS so so so fast. Might f around and even go the extra mile to adjust his email by adding “dnc” as the first few characters to his email address so emails don’t ever get accidentally sent to him to re-engage.

Was this on company phones? They usually have those lines recorded. If that’s the case, I would try to have everything in writing and sent to HR. 🤢 I’m so sorry. 😩

I was assisting with hiring one time, tasked with calling people to schedule interviews.
One man was obviously in a bathtub, very unmistakable sounds of swishing water and other tub noise.
One man was likely mid-stream (could clearly hear it and I'm only assuming it was only #1) and flushed a toilet.
And one resume turned me into a 12 yr old boy.... The man's name was Harry Johnson. I snicker every time I remember it.

To be fair, if I have to piss really bad or am taking a bath and a job calls, I’m still answering it. I would try to mute the phone while flushing, but unless they were making inappropriate noises it’s fair to assume they meant no harm.
