CELEBRATING! 🎉 (no boys invited!) Officially a DIVORCED GIRL dinner!!
Girlies, I am FREE! 🥹 Nine long months ago I discovered his affair. His year-long affair. I found out the day after we had an offer rejected on a house. A house that I was buying him. With MY money. Because he had also racked up $15k in debt behind my back. I left that night and swore to myself I'd never go back. I got a job offer in a different country. I took it. I rebuilt my life from scratch. And today, this saga finally came to an end. I can finally, officially, legally move on with my life. And most importantly, I GOT MY LAST NAME BACK! Hell. Yeah. HELL YEAH!
Celebrating classic girl dinner style! Cherries, roast beef, toasted baguette, goat cheese, pistachios, salt and pepper kettle chips, Italian chocolate with raspberries, and a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. And a coke, because obviously.

Thank you!! 🥳 Plot twist: I never wanted to. We went to the DMV to update our licenses together and he went before me in line and submitted both of our paperwork, including paperwork to change my name after I explicitly told him before during and after the wedding I didn't want to change it. No idea why the workers let him submit my paperwork honestly. 🤦♀️ But at least it's fixed now!

I thought you had to do something more formal too. Turns out you can even get your passport without changing your name with the SSA provided you have the marriage certificate.

We had two daughters in high school and he had tax debt he never told me about. It would have put a lien on the house that I paid for. Took over a year in court to finalize the divorce. I practically skipped into the social security office to change my name back
I was so broke in the middle part that I sold my wedding band for like $30 for grocery money
Those two daughters are now out of college and living great lives on the East Coast. I kept the house and get to decorate how I want. I get to do my favorite hobbies and travel and I’m financially secure
