Call me giving a swag but I despise artists who give women certain assets that they don't have. If you're gonna goon, goon to what they have. A bunch of fake fans fr smh, a real fan loves a character for what they have!!!

Unpopular opinion, I never understood the outrage over this ship. Especially coming from the same fanbase that regularly lusts after any female mobian in the franchise.
It was poorly written, but not morally reprehensible like people are portraying it to be..

It was very uncomfortable to see a drawnout, awkward as fuck "romance" between an anthropomorphic animal and maybe the most realistic looking human we've seen in the franchise.
Yes its not that crazy when fans say they wanna Crack Rouge but to have the official IP lean into that with multiple interactions and cutscenes made us all see it was very very weird in practice

I think it was just so weird and jarring to see elise’s uncanny 3d model kissing sonic on the lips that it stuck with the fanbase. If elise didn’t look like that it probably wouldn’t have left a such a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. If they were both cartoons for instance people would probably be split but a lot more would like it.

The funniest thing about it and what most people forget i think is how it's implemented
After a mission with no explanation you end up with an arena, on one end is Amy and on the other Elise, whoever you stand next to is the one sonic kisses

I was replaying the game a few years ago (well a friend was and i was watching his discord stream) and we all absolutely cackled at it

Only issue I had with it was sonic was hours dead.
Also people are thirsty for people like wrex and garrius from mass effect which are essentially lizards.

There are three reasons: Rouge's tits and mantling.
Rouge single-handedly turned Sonic into the "ew furry" series, so all the rapists pretending to be puritans referred to his relationship with Elise as "bestiality". And also Rouge was made flat as a board after 2003.
Mantlers are mentally-ill people who live vicariously through fictional media like doppelgangers trying to steal the characters' lives. So when they favor a ship, their entire sense of self-worth and validity is dependent on that ship. Sonic is the main character, so he is in many ships, and his brief relationship with Elise sends shippers into psychotic meltdowns.

Idk if mantling is a real term (in this context), but people who self-insert into characters do exist, and self-insert characters also exist. Putting aside anime and Japanese LNs, the most egregious example would probably be Harry Potter; in part because Harry is a pretty boring character, yet the world itself is interesting, people often aggressively self-insert (either into Harry or their OC), briefly leading to the TikTok trend of “phasing”, also known as competitive escapism.

The word, I've taken from Elder Scrolls, where it refers to an identity being passed from one to another, especially a mortal taking the identity of a god.
The practice that I refer to as mantling, unfortunately, I did not contrive. It's an extremely common habit in children's media fandoms such as Sonic and My Little Pony.

Elise and sonic are different species, and while consent can exist in both parties, people can understandably be in shock about the whole interspecie dynamic in a serie that doesn't adress the concept with maturity.

Bestiality applies to species of different levels of sentience, because the one that is not sentient cannot consent
A dwarf and an elf getting together in lotr would in no world be considered bestiality despite them being different species that don't even have a shared origin

She is 16 iirc, but i dont think thats what the downvotes are for. This character is Elise from SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (sonic 06)
As you can imagine with a game as bad as 06, the writing is also terrible, and Elise is a boring af character who constantly needs to be rescued. Most people in the sonic fanbase hate/dislike her.
She is Sonic's love interest in the game, something which is actually crucial to the plot, terribly written, and to top it all off she brings him back to life by kissing him.
(I don't think people are mad for a kid having a crush on another kid. Also Elise's relationship with sonic is ok in that regard too, pretty sure he is officially under 18 years old. Well, "ok", if you ignore the sort-of beastiality of it but not really because sonic 06 also has actual animals in it? Like I said, it's a bad game)
