Questions I was asked during PA interview

I had an informal in person interview with my Ops Manager and then a virtual one with that same ops manager on Chime. I'm only writing this to help others who are frantically searching reddit for PA interview questions like I was. Here are the questions I was asked...

  1. Tell me about yourself
  2. Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer/person and how did you handle it
  3. Tell me about a time you had to make a difficult decision in the short term to benefit the long term goal
  4. Tell me about a time you had to use data in a project/situation
  5. Tell me about a time you had to motivate a group
  6. Are you comfortable giving direction to/leading associates during operations

My area manager put in a good word for me but I have no idea if that impacted the length of my interview or the importance of my answers. To be honest my stories were trash but I stuck to the STAR method as best as possible. Both interviews my ops manager stressed that STAR was important. I asked two questions to the manager at the end because it is important to ask questions even if you don't really care about the response

  1. What key performance indicators/metrics are used to measure success of a PA? How would a PA be graded in a quarterly or yearly performance review for example
  2. What has kept you at Amazon since you joined the company.

Remember in these troubled times..

Our father, who art on his yacht.
Bezos be thy name.
Thy package come, transaction done.
With free 2 day shipping.
Give us this day our daily standup.
And forgive us our missed punches.
As we forgive those with past due Knets.
And lead us not into negative UPT.
But deliver us VTO.
For thine is the shipping.
And the streaming.
And the web services.
Forever and ever.

Might be obvious but how exactly are you scanning package to package? I’m brand new

So they didn’t show us much on my second day. My trainer just said scan a package coming down the chute. Then scan a package on the pallet. Then put the package in the pallet. Does it matter what package you scan on the destination pallet? Can I just put the package anywhere on the pallet in any direction??? For my logic brain I don’t understand how that works.

Positions that don't focus on rate

Hi, I started working at Amazon sometime in September. I originally started in Pack, and now I’m being cross-trained in Pick. However, I’m struggling to meet the expected rate. At our fulfillment center, the target rate for Pick is around 300–350, but I’m barely reaching 260. My question is: Are there any departments or positions at Amazon fulfillment centers that don’t focus as heavily on rate? I’m looking for a position where I can clock in, do my job, and work at a steady pace without constantly stressing about meeting a rate every hour. I’d appreciate any advice or recommendations from people who have experience working in different departments at Amazon.

I heard about changes coming to water spidering that sounds like they will need less of them. Also changes in regards to the scanners (maybe like UPS wrist scanners), and something is going on with HR. Does anyone have the facts on whats going on and what's coming?

L5 Offers - LP vs AM

Does anyone know how LP total comp compares to general operations roles like AM?

Just received an offer to boomerang as an external to L5 Loss Prevention Expert. The salary offer is reasonable, but only 80 RSUs and $6k sign-on each for Y1 and Y2.

I had a friend get an L4 AM offer six years ago and even through the college hire program, the RSUs were quite a bit higher.

Revere MA Warehouse

Does anyone in here know if they do conversions for white badges to blue without waiting the 90 days here? Considering taking a job offer at this warehouse but I don’t want to be seasonal I want to be regular. How does that process work ?

Also if you have any insight on the differences ? I’d would be a delivery station warehouse associate. Not sure if that’s the same as a regular warehouse worker, I’m all new to this and trying to research. Trying to save up to pay off some debt and get a car

CAZ5 (shift vote 1 year away)!!

I know it’s a year away but hear me out CAZ5!!!

Why I Don’t Support the Proposed 10 Hour Schedule
I understand the appeal of working four 10 hour shifts and having three days off. On paper, it sounds like a great opportunity for better work life balance. But when you look at the entire proposal, I believe Amazon stands to benefit more than the associates.
First, we’re being asked to work longer days without receiving overtime until we exceed 10 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week. Amazon gets two additional hours of regular rate labor per scheduled day compared to an 8 hour shift, while associates take on longer physically demanding workdays.
Second, the biggest selling point is having three days off. However, Amazon would still have the ability to assign Mandatory Extra Time with just one week’s notice. That means the additional day off isn’t necessarily guaranteed. Associates could arrange childcare, family activities, appointments, or other commitments around their new schedule, only to have those plans disrupted by MET.
Third, holiday pay would remain at 8 hours even though our scheduled workdays would increase to 10 hours. If Amazon closes for a holiday that falls on our scheduled workday, we’re potentially losing two hours of regular earnings. If we’re expected to commit to a 10 hour schedule, why shouldn’t our holiday pay reflect those 10 hours?
We also need to consider the physical demands of our jobs. Working in a warehouse is physically exhausting. Adding two hours to every scheduled workday could increase fatigue, especially toward the end of a shift. That raises legitimate concerns about safety, productivity, and overall employee well-being.
I’m not against change, and I understand that some associates would genuinely benefit from having three days off. But I believe any major schedule change should provide meaningful benefits and protections for both Amazon and its employees.
Before supporting this proposal, I would want to see guaranteed protections for our three days off, holiday pay that reflects our scheduled shift length, and a clearer explanation of how this change benefits associates beyond simply rearranging the same 40 hours.
Three days off sound great, but if Amazon can take one of those days back through MET, while keeping holiday pay at 8 hours and extending our regular workdays to 10, are associates really getting the better deal?
That’s why I would vote no on the proposal as it currently stands.
