Have you ever seen sand under a microscope? That would be a lovely anniversary gift

u/cmndrhurricane 4h ago

"I don't like sand. Its rough and coarse and gets everywhere"

"Have you looked at it up close?"

Thanks to JizzProductionUnit, the Republic has started flourishing like never before seen

u/Wyandotty 7h ago

Only if you also bring a microscope

Isn't the editing just awful though? It seems like every video now just flashing images one after another in front of you every half second. It's like "Here's an incredibly detailed and beautiful image, and we're going to BLAST YOU WITH THEM OVER AND OVER WHO CARES ABOUT THE DETAIL!"

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 5h ago

Idk it seems like there’s a lot of details in the photos.

2

u/Plastic_Worth3089 5h ago

There is indeed, which is why Im lamenting the rapid speed the video takes the images away.

-4

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 5h ago

Yep but if it interests you, you’re welcome to go find the artist and look further. No one is stopping you from doing that.

5

u/Plastic_Worth3089 5h ago

How? The video doesn't even credit the artist.

Look, I'm sorry my comments have upset you. I take it you feel strongly about this. I apologize for upsetting you. I thought I was making a pretty mild comment,

To answer your question, what I did was pause the video during one of the shots and used Google's Circle to Search and circled the flowering moss. I found an exact match, which was on the photographer's Instagram page. His username is mossranger.

Editing to add - the OP posted a comment with the credit. Here is their comment.

lol I’m not upset but I’m sure two seconds of googling could find this. It’s not hard, if you’re not a silly goose, which you do seem to be.

Sole reason this post won't gain traction. Decapitation strike

1

u/cainsharma 7h ago

She could be allergic to some of the moss

1

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 5h ago

As a lady, no because you should bring your gf to look at the moss where it currently is not bring it to her.

1

u/Messerknife 7h ago

Actually a great Idea

84

u/Horse_Dad 7h ago

Why did he have to sneak up on the moss?

48

u/Gulf_Coast_21 7h ago

Moss scares easily. One needs to remain stealthy around moss to get a proper look.

7

u/iRonin 4h ago

But they’ll soon be back. And in greater numbers.

1

u/Gulf_Coast_21 3h ago

This made me laugh more than what's considered appropriate.

1

u/obliviious 1h ago

Yes like a rolling stone

2

u/Pirateship906 3h ago

And why burst mode? Are the moss moving so fast he wants to make sure he captures the action?

2

u/bongo0070 3h ago

He’s focus stacking, so the camera takes successive shots at progressing levels of depth in the focus. You then take this later and composite those slices of the subject together to get one fully in focus photo

1

u/Gulf_Coast_21 1h ago

Like the MRI of my blown lumbar disk

1

u/BushwhackBandit 3h ago

He also has a massive lens shade, but then behind the foreground of his subjects is green forest and not black shade?

2

u/Pirateship906 3h ago

That's not a lens shade, that's a flash hood/diffuser, to focus and also spread the flash onto the subject. That is actually legit.

1

u/BushwhackBandit 1h ago

Sounds pretty cool. I should look into macro photography more 😀

u/BornThroughDeath 7h ago

The Voynich manuscript comes to mind seeing some of those.

4

u/Statertater 7h ago

Had to look this up, yeah lots of these do indeed!

u/BornThroughDeath 4h ago

I've been curious about this book ever since I found out about it when I was a teen and now that I think about it in the 1400s magnifying glasses started to evolve exponentially, so things could add up🤷‍♂️

35

u/DoctorHugoHackenbush 7h ago

After viewing those pics, I've taken a lichen to moss..

7

u/Me_Zyme 7h ago

You moss be joking!!

10

u/heftybagman 7h ago

Music sorta oversells the epicness of it but those are some cool structures

7

u/Xian_G 6h ago

It'd be nice to have them labeled. I need to know which one was Carrie-Anne.

1

u/conardcanard 3h ago

I want to know which one works in IT with Roy

4

u/EirikHavre 2h ago

OP is that you in the video? If not, do you have a link to the original? I wanna ask them what the light modifier they use is called. Would love to have it myself.

1

u/OneWorldly8847 2h ago

@mossranger I scrolled for a bit

1

u/mistervulpes 1h ago

It appears to be an AK Diffuser. Don't quote me on the specific brand.

5

u/DudeyToreador 7h ago

I sort them by taste.

2

u/SSDMorgs 6h ago

That is not how you're supposed to do it

4

u/DudeyToreador 6h ago

I AM THE MOSS COLLECTOR THIS MOMTH AND YOU ARE NOT

2

u/SSDMorgs 26m ago

YOU ARE UNFIT! UNDESERVING! I HAVE SEEN MORE MOSSES THAN YOU WILL EVER SEE!!

1

u/DudeyToreador 25m ago

AND I HAVE TASTED MORE MOSSES THAN YOU CAN EVEN IMAGINE!!!!!

4

u/Ok_Effort_150 5h ago

Mosses and liver warts are super cool up close! I got to do some undergraduate research on them many years ago, and the project was looking for parasitic fungi within their leaves and fruiting bodies! There's a whole microscopic predator/prey Parasite/host ecosystem in every mat of moss!

2

u/PraxicalExperience 3h ago

What I need to know is what's that awesome foldup macro flash-hood that he's got? I freaking want one!

2

u/mistervulpes 1h ago

Looks like an AK Diffuser. I know nothing about these, just seems to resemble the one in the video the most when I used Google's Circle to Search feature.

1

u/Aiglos_and_Narsil 1h ago

My thoughts exactly. Super cool, and these shots are handheld? Wild.

u/Mammoth_Spend_5590 Expert 7h ago

Actually, this isn't moss, theyre plants called bryophytes.

5

u/Sennten 4h ago

... mosses ARE bryophytes, my man.

Wait, what do you think moss is?

1

u/throwaway098764567 2h ago

excuse me but their flair says they're an expert /s

2

u/WinPrestigious7568 7h ago

Don't think we're likely to run off if u didn't sneak up on them though the pics are nice 👌

1

u/Intelligent-Gate-192 7h ago

Reminds me of that one game by Amnita Designs. It has similar designs for plants and the environment.

1

u/LadnavIV 6h ago

I just know Andrew Hunter Murray is here somewhere.

1

u/curiousmind111 6h ago

Are these yours OP?

1

u/mistervulpes 1h ago

No, OP credited mossranger in a comment.

1

u/ADriftingMind 5h ago

Which one is sativa dominant?

1

u/Balja1989 5h ago

Weird to think that I've wiped my ass with those things many years ago on a fishing trip

1

u/TinyGiraffeSuit 5h ago

I guess Theo Rose was right

1

u/Hereva 3h ago

Who needs AI! Just zoom in some moss!

1

u/JumpyAd9461 1h ago

YEAH MOSS!

1

u/odditymagnetic 1h ago

Amazing! 🤩

What in the Liam Neeson jumping a fence is this? Slow it down. Let us savor it

1

u/KayNay420 7h ago

Amossing detail to those pics

1

u/myxoma1 7h ago

Smoke it

1

u/fajadada 6h ago

Beautiful

-2

u/lgodsey Interested 4h ago

"Mosses? Aren't they all just green?", asked no one.

You don't need to whip up controversy just to post your little plant pictures on the Internet.

1

u/Straight6er 1h ago

Did a macro photographer hurt you?
