Regarding Crossposts and Screenshots of other Subs
There is a new rule for screenshots and crossposts.
If you are wanting to share something from another sub to mock or disagree with, you need to screenshot it and blackout the name of that sub as well as the usernames in the post.
Do not crosspost subs that are opposed to the general views here.
(This does not apply to posts from X, Bluesky, or similar websites. As long as you aren’t posting someone’s personal Facebook, I wouldn’t worry about other sites.)
If you are sharing something that is in line with the general opinions of our sub, that’s fine. But we can’t be seen as directing negative attention towards other subs. We will be held accountable to extents that most subreddits won’t because wrongthink happens here.
We will not be banning people for this, but the posts will be removed if you don’t meet these standards.
Obviously this all kinda falls under rules 1 and 8, but I wanted it to be clear.
That’s all I got for today. Go away now.

2nd Sub Being Created For Politics & Non-Youtube-related Critical Drinker Content
To put it simply, none of us mods like when this subreddit devolves into a lot of political banter about a topic that has nothing to do with what's going on with Critical Drinker's YouTube channel. We also don't particularly like the way the sub and its content skews when there's a CD comment about a significant event on twitter, which is something that has been increasingly lately.
This puts us mods in a weird position where, things that we normally would remove, are now not things that should be removed because they're technically on topic because CD has commented on them.
This is currently, and into the future, making us look like hypocrits when we do not remove very similar looking posts that are about things that Critical Drinker has not commented on.
At the same time, there are topics that would have value staying up in the sub, but that we may remove at times because they are against the posted rules in our sub, in the interest of staying fair to how we treat everyone in the sub.
So, we are opening a 2nd subreddit, r/CriticlDrinkerOpenBar . Yes, it's missing an 'a', there is a character limit for subreddit names (Feel free to suggest a better one).
The goal of this is to give you a space where there are way fewer restrictions on things being "on topic", more room for discussion about fringe topics, more room for political debates, etc etc.
We would like this sub (the existing one) to more or less stay focused on the content on Critical Drinker's youtube channel, and I know that we (mods) have been at odds with a large portion of the recently joined audience in this subreddit, especially as CD has started the video games channel and more recently been getting involved more with political commentary.
The other sub will have fewer restrictions on posted content, but please be warned, Reddit TOS is still very much an issue that must be enforced, so there will still be various types of issues (such as encouraging brigading, etc) that will be strictly penalized.
Along those lines - We also hope that this will shift some of the content that gets posted here at times that puts our sub at risk of being taken down, to the other subreddit.
This will be a bit of a slow roll out over the next week or so; I have created the sub, but have not yet done anything else. You can expect an additional note on this in the rules, followed by slowly increasing post removals & modmails for things that we believe will belong in the other sub.
We would also like to invite you to apply to become moderators of the 2nd sub, if you're interested, as not all of the current mods in this sub have the bandwidth to do so.
Regarding our recent announcement on megathreads for significant political events - We will still probably follow that policy for very significant events that we'd like to allow discussion for on this main sub without warping the sub. But instances in the existing CD sub that we may have pushed into that megathread, will be free game in the other sub.

NetFlix firing its woke film development department
"Everyone is collateral damage."
That's how one top Netflix insider summarized another bloody Monday at the streamer, which saw Dan Lin ousted as the company's head of film.
Following last week's 6% workforce reduction at Netflix -- which claimed victims including chief content officer Bela Bajaria and Lin's right-hand Doug Belgrad -- consensus said it was a matter of time before co-CEO Ted Sarandos would show Lin the door.
It took a day. On the heels of the Bajaria news on Thursday, Sarandos rang Lin on Friday to tell him he'd been dismissed, three sources told Variety. The exec kept his head up and pressed on through the weekend, appearing at Saturday's Academy Gala (in the same room as Sarandos) and at a Sunday tastemaker screening to support the filmmakers of "La Bola Negra." As has been summarized in many articles about the Netflix purge, creative leadership at the company is being overhauled amid poor stock performance and declining user engagement on the platform.

I’m not “celebrating the loss of jobs” with the news of BioWare closing. I fully support the devs finding new employment that better suits their skill set.
Want to get into game development? Great! Just remember that the audience that actually buys games isn’t the same audience that Reddit and Twitter pretend are the majority.
You are not owed employment with a game development studio if you can’t make a satisfactory product that people want to buy. We owe you nothing; it’s your job to convince us that your product is worth parting with our hard-earned cash for. Videogames are a luxury product and your employment in the entertainment industry is not a right, it’s a privilege.
Can’t accept that? Better get used to putting the fries in the bag, chud.

In honor of Bioware closing, I decided to boot up Dragon Age: Origins. I’m only an hour in and the writing is already so good and cheeky lol
What a waste of a legacy. RIP vintage Bioware.

How the fuck did it become "Blame the fans?"
With Forgotten Island bombing in the box office, I've been seeing the phrase "people say they want original movies but don't go watch original movies when they come out" or "Resident Evil fans are salty because no Leon and Green Lantern fans salty because Lanterns has no constructs" Brother.
- Why can't these fucking bootlickers blame the studios/marketing department for the box office failures of a movie? How is it my fault for not seeing a movie I didn't know about?
- This is coming from someone who liked Resident Evil 2026, why are we getting mad at people wanting to see live action adaptations of the first game or the very least Leon? Same with Lanterns, I think it's reasonable to want Green Lantern shit in a Green Lantern show. Monarch has freaking kaijus yet it's a TV show I think Lanterns could've afforded it.
I swear these people are insufferable.
