AM6B+ video playback stutters/freezes after suspend. Need to unplug unit for a few minutes to fix it

I initially installed AVDVPlus on the AM6B+ to EMMC. This problem has existed since day 1. I recently did an "update" to P3i and the problem persists. Once the device resumes from suspend, if I play any high bitrate file, the video plays choppily for a couple of seconds and then completely freezes up. Navigation of the UI is completely fine. Software reboot does not fix the problem. I need to disconnect the power for a few minutes to fix it. 30 second power off does not fix it. Pulling the HDMi plug for 30 seconds does not fix it. I have not tried pulling the HDMI plug for longer

All the settings (except Shutdown function) in the Power Savings tab are disabled, and changed the CEC settings to Ignore for TV is switched off. However the device still seems to be going into suspend after a day or two of being idle

Please help. I'm very frustrated at this point

Stability issues on fire tv cube 3

I recently rooted and installed 22 rc1 on my device and all seemed to go well, lossless audio and DV7 but playing a file and it will play for a few minutes then just completely stop. Are there known issues on this build? Would I be better installing a recent nightly build instead?

Has anyone used REA on the OS of the Chinese version to create an English version that works natively with all the regular streaming apps?

Ugoos AM6b+ with CoreElec and seamless branching audio dropouts??

I've been really looking closely at the AM6b+ and furiously googling seamless branching audio cuts to see if this issue persists on the Ugoos... I can't find a clearly defined answer if it's still an issue with certain remux files. I see some threads on certain websites where people have complained of it happening in the past, but I can't tell if that's an issue with the particular CoreElec build they were running or what.

Is there anyone here who can definitively answer this for me? If I get one and get it set up all properly, will I have issues with short audio dropouts on seamless branching 4K remux files like people experience on the Shield Pro, for example?

Thank you in advance. And if you need more info on my setup, if that matters, please let me know.

AM9 pro remote proper config

How do you setup your remote to make it as seamless as possible? Found out I can't copy my old remote to the RED power button, only the gray so the wife approval factor went down the drain because every remote before had top left power button, so muscle memory will turn off the core elec box for weeks.

So I was thinking, what is the PROPER method to turn LG+Onkyo simultaneously without powering off/on the AM9 Pro.

AM9 pro should be online and ON 24/7 so when new thing arrives it refreshes the library and when any family member turns on the TV it just works and can watch anything within seconds, or this is the plan.

Currently when I press the RED power button it turns off the running AM9 Pro and I have no idea if its even possible to turn TV and amplifier ON/OFF with CEC while the box stays ON.

Ugoos AM9 Pro + CoreELEC. Fast Forward and Rewind Are Not Smooth

Hi everyone,

I’m using a Ugoos AM9 Pro running CoreELEC with the SamuriHL build, and I’m having trouble with fast-forwarding and rewinding while watching movies.

My setup:

Device: Ugoos AM9 Pro (Amlogic S905X5)
Operating system: CoreELEC, using the SamuriHL build
Media player: Kodi
Skin: Arctic Fuse 3
Streaming add-on: POV with Real-Debrid
Media: I also Stream high-bitrate 4K movie files, including Blu-ray remuxes.

The problem:
When I press the forward or backward buttons on my remote while watching a movie, seeking is not smooth or predictable. Sometimes it jumps forward or backward too quickly, making it difficult to reach the exact scene I want. At other times, it moves too slowly, requiring multiple button presses and making the process frustrating.
I’m looking for a way to achieve smooth, controlled, and consistent seeking, similar to what we get on streaming platforms such as Stremio or Plex.

I tried adjusting the player settings. but still it is not salt the problem

My questions:
Is this a known issue with the Ugoos AM9 Pro, CoreELEC, or the SamuriHL build?

I’m happy with the overall playback quality and want to get the seeking behaviour right without compromising 4K playback, HDR, or Dolby Atmos/TrueHD passthrough.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Any simple tutorial for Xiaomi box S 3 ?

Hello, I’d like to try installing Coreelec on my new Xiaomi box S 3rd gen internal storage (currently running it from attached usb stick) but I can’t find a simple step-by-step tutorial.
Also pretty hard as a non-English speaker and the technical terms are pretty hard to understand.

DTS: HD MA vs DTS: X vs Dolby TrueHD Atmos

Am I losing my mind, or is DTS-HD MA genuinely better than DTS:X and TrueHD Atmos tracks?

I was comparing the audio tracks on my Fast & Furious UHD remux via passthrough to my sound system, keeping the volume locked at 15 across the board. To my absolute shock, the DTS-HD MA track completely blows the other two out of the water.

Before I continue, I tested this with two setups:

  1. UGOOS AM9 Pro with DV FEL and SamuriHL Build and PM4K addon

  2. Nvidia Shield with Plex App

The plex server is local and the file playback was done via DIRECT PLAY. So nothing was lost or being transcoded. The file is a full 80GB remux.

The opening race scene with Ja Rule, Vin and Paul Walker etc.

Scene 1: First Race - license plate flies off:

* TrueHD/Atmos: Weakest of the bunch. Light immersion, just a faint emphasis on the right side

* DTS:X: Better - you get soundstage on both the right and left sides when the number plate flies past.

* DTS-HD MA: Insane. Way louder, more aggressive, bassier, punchier and the license plate actually sounded like it skimmed right past my head.

Scene 2: First Race - Vin Diesel hits the NOS and crosses the finish line

* DTS-HD MA: Deep, room-shaking bass right beneath my feet, with a hard-hitting, aggressive zoom across the finish line. When Vin hits the NOS, you immediately feel that hit under your feet from the sub. When he crosses over the line you hear a loud scream.

* DTS:X & TrueHD Atmos: Thin, light, and flat. Absolutely no rumble under my feet when the NOS hits, and the finish line cross sounds totally muted by comparison with a feint scream. It's a night-and-day difference.

The results above were found across both devices.

Can anyone explain what on earth is going on here? Why is the uncompressed non-object track outperforming the object-based tracks by this much? I am curious what your thoughts are based on your own experiences.

I think you can reproduce the same levels of energy with the Atmos and DTS X track by pumping up the volume more. But man I am shocked.

Running coreELEC on UgoosAM6B+ for large 54tb/1000 movie 4k library - will load time from cold bootup take forever?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey guys, I haven't set my Ugoos player up yet, but am curious if I'm to use this thing rather sparingly, at least not enough to leave it on all the time, when I do want to use it, is it going to take forever for it to load my 54tb library of 4k movies to the front end - like the movie artwork and info etc. from the selection screen each time I boot it up? Just curious, I bought the Ugoos and ripped my library almost a year and half ago and never got around to flashing it with coreELEC ..but the thought has come across my mind a few times - am I going to be in for a long wait every time I boot this thing up with this size library, ya know? Thanks guys!

BluRay menus

Hi, I recently ditched streaming services and I started buying and digitising BluRays onto my NAS.

I went ahead with a Fire TV stick 4K Max. It's great. I am able to direct stream 4K from my Jellyfin. The problems started, when I used VLC to open a disc menu of a Gladiator. The experience was really great and it's much much better than just playing it from Jellyfin. That's when I decided I need the disc menus.

From the research I did, CoreElec has a better support than LibreElec which made me buy a budget Xiaomi Box S 3 instead of using my spare Pi 5. I plan to use BDMV format stored on my NAS.

Is this setup going to work? I also have a USB BD reader. Is it going to be possible to play Blurays directly? I read that it's possible to install MakeMKV which decrypts the disc

Thank you!

Edit: one factor influencing me is also the ability to choose extended or theatrical version from one disk. I have seen many discs that I have to include seamless branching to add an extended version into one disk. I spent the whole night trying to create MKV with seamless branching (it's called different for MKV) but Jellyfin doesn't even support it.

The other thing is that I will have extras easily available (if it works) instead of having to either spend a lot of time organising it into Jellyfin (aka manually exporting and naming the extras based on the length which is really time consuming) or grabbing the BD.

Another thing is that I can create a really "low" quality mkv (4GB or less) for streaming outside my house as I don't intend to stream 30 or 60GB files through the internet.

Fire Cube 3 in like new condition is still at a very good price on Amazon USA

amazon.com/dp/B09TLFJ6JC

This is by far the best box you can buy today, for any kind of media streamer, whether you want to run Plex, Emby, Jellyfin, Kodi, or CoreElec. It has been rooted and you can do anything you want, replace stock launcher etc.

Its much better than the Shield Pro which is overpriced and has many limitations. Its as good/better than the popular Android boxes. And its far cheaper.

Stats overlay for Dolby Vision Fel

Hi, I could have sworn the first nightly build I installed on the Am9 pro had a remote button operated stats overlay which seems to be absent on newer nightly releases. What's the simplest way to get this back?

Hi folks. I mentioned selling this a couple months ago and I finally got around to wiping it and boxing it up. It's ready to be shipped. If you're interested, just pm me. I don't think it's even six months old. It works fine but I found the tweaking and adjusting settings maddening. LOCATED IN US

Am9 sound syncing issue

Title: Ugoos AM9 Pro, Android Kodi: audio late at playback start (lips first). VLC on the same box is fine

Setup:

Ugoos AM9 Pro, Android firmware 2.2.0, Kodi 21 (Android)

Ugoos HDMI → Denon AVR-X4400H → LG C2 77"

Local MKV rips (Blu-ray and UHD, some Dolby Vision) over SMB

Kodi: refresh rate switching on start/stop, passthrough on (TrueHD/DTS-HD), Sync playback to display off

Problem: at the start of every film the audio is late (lips move first). It happens with both passthrough and PCM. Changing any TV setting used to resync it, but now even that doesn't help.

Already tried, no change:

Kodi: delay after refresh rate change (2–3 s), refresh switching off (worse, and the audio drops out for about 10 s after unpause), seeking back

Ugoos firmware updated to 2.2.0

Denon: Auto Lip Sync off

LG: ALLM off, Game Optimizer off, Filmmaker Mode

Key test: VLC for Android on the same box with the same file has near-perfect sync. So it looks like Kodi's Android audio path, not the hardware.

Questions:

Has anyone fixed this in Android Kodi on the AM9 Pro?

For CoreELEC 22 RC1 on the AM9 Pro: is s6_s905x5_ugoos_am9_pro.dtb included in the image, or do I download it separately and rename it dtb.img?

Is a separate dovi.ko still needed for Dolby Vision, or is it built in now? If needed, where's the current one?

Anyone running CoreELEC on the AM9 Pro through an AVR: is lip sync solid with TrueHD/Atmos?

Thanks!

Harmony hub needs to reconnect constantly

I'm using an AM9 Pro with SamuriHL and a Harmony Elite connected via Bluetooth to control it. Every time i switch to a different HDMI source (also using bluetooth) and then go back to the AM9 theres a pop up to pair with the harmony that needs clicked 2 or 3 times.

I've tried deleting and re-pairing many times, using a separate bluetooth adapter (behaves exactly the same) and using *find /storage -maxdepth 1 -type d ! -user root -exec chown -R root:root {} \; * that i saw in an old post here but nothing helps.

Anything else i can try? Keep in mind its all new to me.

Jellyfin or local SMB filesharing for local home theater streaming?

I recently rooted a FireCube 3 and installed CoreElec on it to serve as a home theater streaming box, using my desktop PC (and the media drives on it) as a local server I can access from my living room TV.

I'm a little new to this, so I still don't have a full grasp of some of the specifics of how transcoding works from a server to a client or how a locally-hosted Jellyfin server vs windows SMB could affect something like bit-rate.

My first and biggest question is whether there's any downside to using the "Jellyfin for Kodi" plugin to both make my desktop media files accessible via a Jellyfin server and rely on Jellyfin's metadata collation to help organize my library. My major concern is the possibility that I'd risk lowering the quality of what's streamed through the Jellyfin server due to transcoding or bit-rate limitations after going through the trouble of installing CoreElec specifically for its high-quality and high-compatibility playback. Is this the case at all?

After setting up a basic SMB of my media library for direct file sharing to CoreElec, I've discovered that CoreElec/Kodi seems to have done a rather poor job of actually labeling/sorting my files after scanning them with well over half my library unrecognized and much of what is there showing as incomplete. This is made worse seeing that I only seem to be able to label a given media folder as either TV Shows or Movies, rather than a mix of both. Much of this issue is likely due to the fact that I have a pretty extensive anime library, and I'd been looking into Shokofin as a Jellyfin plugin to help with anime meta-data. Would Jellyfin for Kodi actually help with labeling and organization in this scenario where (as I understand) the plugin is integrated into Kodi's own directories? Or is it a better idea to try and wrangle the organization through Kodi's own plugins?

Any advice is highly appreciated!

Shield pro or AM9Pro?

Hello,

recently I’ve bought the LG oled OLED83C54LA.

It’s connected to a Denon AVR-X3500H receiver.

At the moment, I’m using a Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 with Kodi to watch my movies and series on TV.

I’m reading alot about the Ugoose AM9 pro and I was wondering if this device would work with my components?

I’ve read alot of positive responses about this device but is it really worth to change from Shield to AM9 pro?

At the moment they are at 259 euros in France.

Thank you for your replies.

Greetings Tom

EDIT:

Hello,

thank you all again for your replies.

My choice is made, I’m going to buy a new Ugoos device.

But, before that, I got a link where they compare Android devices and in that list, they still think, the Ugoos AM6B+ is the best.

I myself, prefer a newer device like the AM9 pro.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Uyuw_1dADsRw7u1LGW6qTSZDLLNXWVK82gmHX7L6M3I/edit?gid=0#gid=0

There for, I have two questions;

1) is the Ugoos AM9 pro still the best option for local media and YT? (jennifer gala…)

2) Do you have a link what to do after receiving the box?

Installing coreelec etc.

I’d prefer to ask before the box arrives to prevent ‘stupid’ mistakes.

Greetings,

hopefully, soon, a happy Ugoos customer,

Tom
