I've lived in France my whole life. Right now, with the riots that started here and are spreading across Europe, I figured it might be interesting to answer questions from an everyday person's point of view, what it's actually like on the street, not the news version.

I'm a current college student at Mercy University NY. My major is criminal justice with a concentration in forensic investigations, and my minor is psychology. I'm a commuter, and I attend the Dobbs Ferry campus

I am an internationally licensed commercial/industrial electrician, I am currently traveling on the East Coast building data centers. This was not my initial career plan, but these are consistently the highest paying jobs across the US. Most of my experience has been in hospitals, prisons, phosphate mines, and a variety of offices and warehouses.

I am the youngest of 6 kids, and I'm 21 years old. I was raised in very tradition Sunni Islam. Among many other restrictions, I started wearing the niqab at 14, and I'd been a hijabi since I was 4. I was homeschooled until ninth grade, at which point after much begging I was allowed to attend an all girls school.

Here's some other restrictions in my household:
\- Fully veiled when going out. Absolutely no pants, dark abayas only
\- No western movies/tv shows/games (watched behind my parents back)
\- No phone until I turned 18 (got one behind their back)
\- Not allowed to talk to boys for any reason
\- No music, ever
\- Arranged marriage at 18
\- Mom always kept track of my period (prayer is restricted during periods in Islam)
\- Basically didnt celebrate anything except Eid, like no birthdays, Halloween, Christmas

I moved away at the age of 17 years old, four years ago. It was always my dream to do so growing up. I never really believed in Allah as a young kid, even. I am the first in my family to leave Islam. My two sisters eventually did fight back a little (one divorced, one did not get married off at 18) but they're still Muslims. My brothers are deeply traditional Muslims and I have no contact with them.

I applied to colleges behind my parents back, and I now identify as mostly atheist. I don't really believe in a higher power, but I also do not have any strong beliefs in what happens after death. Feel free to ask me anything about my upbringing, its effects on me, how I'm doing now!

I am secretly the stereotypical, cringy Disney adult.

I was traveling Thailand as a backpacker at the time. I was ordered to do a drug test during a night Police raid at the bar, which I refused, only to be arrested and forced to be invasively searched and tested at the station. I did not use any illicit drugs.

I tried it for the first time when I was 16, now I'm 19 and I had only 1 year of sobriety between 17 and 19.

I've done one of these before, but I'm bored and feel like talking. So, three years ago I was walking on the sidewalk to a bus stop from work when I was struck by a vehicle. The driver sped off and to this day has never been caught. I was living in a major city at the time and had to be taken from the hospital back to my small hometown by my father, who I didn't recognize at the hospital (I recognize him now, of course). Doctors told me that moving back to my hometown would actually be beneficial in terms of restoring my memories. I have a lot of memories that I remember "recovering" in sort of an a-ha moment, when I taste certain foods, see people's faces, see certain things, etc.

I know amnesia is rare, so I'm willing to answer any questions anyone might have for me.

I worked at a fairly busy Ross for four years. I mostly kept to the fitting room, stock room, and floor with only sometimes being on the register. You can ask me anything about working there and I’ll answer to the best of my abilities!

Lotta news recently about SCOs being dropped from retailers. I wouldn't know the larger industry trends or the corpo purchasing habits, but I do assist with selling and am the lead NCR Voyix FastLane technician/programmer for my company, as well as being generally around and knowledgable about our other Point of Sale systems.
