Politics Did Farmers Vote for Trump Because of Racism?

Why the HELL did farmers vote for Trump? Racism.
And it turns out, the truth is even worse.
Because once you start pulling on that thread, you get into the money, the promises, and the politics of farm labor. The H-2A guest-worker system is supposed to provide agricultural workers legally when there aren't enough available U.S. workers, but the system also ties those workers to their employers. Then comes the story of Operation Blooming Onion, a massive human-trafficking investigation in Southern Georgia involving H-2A workers who were subjected to forced labor and horrific conditions. These weren't simply undocumented workers being exploited in the shadows. They had come to the United States through a legal guest-worker program.
After cases like this, under Biden, the federal government put new protections into the H-2A system, including measures aimed at preventing worker exploitation, protecting workers from retaliation, increasing employer accountability, and stopping practices like confiscating passports.
But in 2025, the Trump administration rolled back those anti-slavery provisions. The discussion investigates farm subsidies, migrant labor, H-2A visas, human trafficking, and a system where the ability of workers to leave their jobs can become a tool of control. And that's when the question of racism starts looking a whole lot bigger.

You are correct. If it benefits the American people, Trump rolled it back and blamed Biden. I hate it here.

My problem with these videos is that like Malcolm X once said, "they won't even admit that the knife is there." These people perpetrated real violence against us, akin to a knife in our backs. Also, their discourse is not our discourse. As a Black land owner and farmer also in SC dependent on migrant workers and seasonal migration, I offer dissenting opinions on politics. White people will be a minority here shortly so all of their discussions about themselves (with only themselves) are increasingly irrelevant. Run your race. They will not win. The United States of America has a legacy that must be faced in order for real progress to be made, and these people are unwilling to do the work.

Trump is going to deport less people than will be kept in detention and used as forced labor and taxpayers will fit the bill while companies profit from cheap labor.

I remember shortly after he was inaugurated and ICE was raiding farms, people were warning him that it was pissing farmers off, and he started talking about creating a sort of program for farmers to keep their immigrant labor. The farmers would be able to “vouch” for their workers, making their immigration status contingent on the farmer’s satisfaction. So basically, immigrant workers would have to work hard and not complain about anything, or they’d be deported. You know, slavery!

not that i don't believe you, but do you have sources for the Biden protections and Trump's rollback?
can't find anything in a cursory google search, much appreciated

It’s to preserve white supremacist systems. I used to wonder why white women largely voted for Trump too when he hurts women and then overtime I realized that the reason any white group majority votes for Trump is because maintaining white supremacy is more important to them than whatever suffering Trump may cause for them.

The part about liberals making up the idea that farmers were deceived and not being able to accept that they just aren’t good people
They do this with all of MAGA and are constantly making excuses about Fox News, cults, poor education and Trump’s lies. They still can’t accept that these are just not good people who WANTED the lies and propaganda as cover and knew what they were choosing.

That's it right there. Liberals are weirdly trapped in a reality where they believe that people who vote for Trump are all just misguided people who got brainwashed. Some people are but that's not a majority of them. A lot of people are bad people who already had these beliefs before Trump. They just didn't have the social license to vocalize them. I do believe that some people were just duped but operating by the assumption that it's all of them is ridiculous and limiting.

Right, absolutely some people got tricked and emotionally manipulated but they’re a small minority and that’s getting more obvious every day

They DO love being able to say and do racist things whilst denying actually being racist. That said, I believe they voted for Trump because the Republican Party lowers their requirements on standards and always provides them bailouts.

Look up Freedom Acres ranch to answer this question. Cattle theft, poisoning, vandalism, and a fucking drive by shooting wrapped in racism. All because of a land dispute
White farmers are deserve nothing but the lost of their land

Let's be clear, a lot of people voted for trump because of racist ideologies and bigotry. Not just farmers. Surprised that people have forgotten this is America.

And, as far as I can tell, this is the only reason anyone still supports him. So the floor of his approval ratings is the percent of Americans that support Trump because racism.

27% if Germany still supported Hitler after 1945
These are similar people

It’s so interesting watching white people come to certain realizations in the last three years. Did they really think farmers were “experiencing economic anxiety”? I thought we all could see and understand the blatant underlying racism?

u/MokpotheMighty 9h ago
The video is actually about Trump repealing anti slavery laws, at the behest of these farmers, and they are mad that he didn't do it enough.
Also the people in the video literally talk about how people don't talk about this part enough.
I'd really have hoped to see more mention of this in the comments.

Yes , of course. And sexism too. Even the white “liberal” women voted for trump.
6
u/MacabreYuki 10h ago
there's also the gender divide. there were a lot of black men that voted for trump out of sexism because Kamala was, obviously, a woman.
Sexism *and* racism both played very explicit parts in this election, and the more machismo-minded folks bought right into it. That's also why there was a lot of support amongst the Latine populace, with the obsession on masculinity/machismo.
To simplify it down to just one factor really helps ignore the ones amongst our midsts who betrayed their skinfolk and made it clear they weren't kinfolk.
You know which demographic voted least for Trump? black women <3

The red pill propoganda directed towards black men on social media is strong.

Yes, yes it is. It has unfortunately lead many a young black man astray, fed them the lies of the white "moderate". I may not be skinfolk, but I'm also on the receiving end of the "moderate" and their betrayal. i had to watch as they ignored these forces weaving the minds of young men into manosphere incels.

Did white farmers vote…YES! Of course they did. He gave them the audacity to say out loud all the hateful things they’ve always believe. He gave them someone to blame for all their problems so they didn’t blame billionaires! Once he got their vote, he was done with them.

This is a good video and the more I learn about Liberals, the more I understand what Malcolm X meant.

I may not be skinfolk, but I am of another minority, and I will never forget the words MLK wrote in that letter from a Birmingham jail about white moderates.
All ya gotta do is change the ingroup and outgroup, and the point stays the same. Hell, in this environment, you don't even have to change the ingroup.
edit: felt like posting his own words here
"I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: 'I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action'; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a 'more convenient season.' Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection."

"I never heard a farmer say that they were lied to."
Then maybe you should see more videos of farmers talking about this.

I think there’s confusion between white moderates, liberals and progressives. Just like you cant lump all black people and POC in to one big group that votes a a contiguous block.

Wow. I had no idea the extent of the abuse possible under H2A visas. Learned something new today that has completely reinvigorated my disdain for maga. Disgusting bunch of unprincipled buffoons.
Thanks for sharing this clip. It was a good reminder that writing farmers off as racists is not a solution. It’s truthful and accurate but not a solution.
